Miss215 got a reaction from lizonaplane in Covid Test!
It is actually quite horrible lol. As a nurse, I’ve taken swabs of that sort plenty of times from my patients, but boy was I unprepared for the receiving end of it! It’s definitely uncomfortable, especially if they are getting an adequate sample with correct technique. Just concentrate on your breathing and it’ll be over before you know it.

Miss215 got a reaction from Hop_Scotch in Unsupportive Boyfriend
He is an a-hole. Bottom line. I tell men from jumpstreet...”what you like is not my concern. I may inform you or run things by you, but rarely if ever will I be doing it to have your consent or blessing. EYE am the boss of me, and no one else. “ Your story is a familiar example to me as I’ve seen things like this happen to multiple relationships..it’s as if they see the success as a threat to the fortitude of the relationship. I think some men may be scared that you’ll “outgrow” them, which could very well be true, but it is an act of outright selfishness to try to put you down for bettering yourself. If he’s no longer attracted to you once you become smaller, oh well, his loss, but how could you deter someone you love from doing everything they can to live a healthier life?...
I say you go out and find another man who will love and support you unconditionally. You deserve it!

Miss215 reacted to 2Bsmaller18 in Period
My first one was horrible, heavy and cramps. I thought I would need to get a transfusion after. Make sure you are eating foods with high Iron to compensate. I used a warm compress for cramps. The next few months were heavier but not as bad and now at 8 months it is almost back to my normal.

Miss215 reacted to fizz_gonza in 3 periods in 5 weeks
Same happened to me. I'm 3 mo post op.. periods are getting more spaced out now, but they're also really light compared to what they used to be? Not complaining about that bit...however cramping/tiredness seems to be worse which blows.

Miss215 reacted to catwoman7 in Spotting, periods & cramping after VSG
some people experience "hormone dumps" after WLS that affects their moods and menstrual cycles. It can last a few weeks or sometimes months, but it does eventually normalize. That may be what's going on

Miss215 reacted to Annasteph in Spotting, periods & cramping after VSG
I had my surgery 6/18/20 and I do have the nexplanon birth control implant and my periods have been so out of control. I spotted before surgery and keep having it on and off coupled with cramps and nausea to the point I don’t even feel like eating. Has anyone else had issues with period after VSG?

Miss215 got a reaction from Lady Zae in How much did you lose on your pre-op diet?
Exercising!?....I feel tired and weak mostly, I think I might pass out if I tried to workout. -
Miss215 reacted to Dale P. in Breads & the such
Thanks for the responses! Yes I am planning on having these foods once in a while and not a regular thing. I took the rest of my burger home to go and today I just ate the patty with no yearning from the bun. I've been doing a lot better on meeting or exceeding my Protein and fluids intake! The MyFitnessPal app has been a big help as well and noted that the aforementioned foods weren't very helpful with protein. I'm down 107 pounds since my pre-surgery diet and 83 since the surgery itself so I'm hoping to stick with what got me here!

Miss215 reacted to JAKE H in Stalled for a week
Almost every single person who has had WLS goes through a stall at about this time. Stick to your diet. All is well!

Miss215 reacted to Sosewsue61 in How many years after surgery could you eat a plate of spaghetti without feeling nauseous?
Your desire for this food is very apparent, you are asking an emotional question - not a nutritional one. Right now your mind needs to realize that it will never be the same again, unless you want to ruin the surgery.
Your body needs nutrition, so work within the guidelines to simulate Asian food, use the spices and vegetables and some chicken.
Pasta - no, a couple bites here and there, but it isn't that appealing and feels too heavy. You can still have the sauce and meatballs. I suspect you are missing chewing this texture too. All of us had to face the food funeral.
You are among friends here, so don't be rude to sleevers, they are trying to help.

Miss215 reacted to catwoman7 in How many years after surgery could you eat a plate of spaghetti without feeling nauseous?
I'm over four years out. I eat sushi, but I can only manage half a roll.
Chinese food - yes. I don't eat the rice, though. I order something with non-fried meat (and veggies) and eat a cup or so of that.
Pasta - I avoid that. I don't feel well after eating a carb-heavy meal, so I haven't messed around with pasta dishes.

Miss215 reacted to Recidivist in Leakage
I had a leak, but as someone said earlier, it occurred while I was still in the hospital immediately after surgery. They suspected it due to an extremely fast heart rate and high white blood cell count, and it was confirmed by an x-ray after swallowing barium.
I'm not sure whether leaks can occur a few weeks after surgery--but in case that turns out to be the case, you'll be relieved to know that mine was quickly and easily repaired and there were no long-term issues.

Miss215 reacted to Christina.Rose in Reflux remains after revision 😩
I'm actually 3mo (sleeve to bypass for GERD) out and am still having acid. This bypass surgery has not been worth the effort, money, pain, misery so far. If I wasn't so disappointed and depressed, I would be pissed off. Sorry, no advice, but it is not just you.

Miss215 reacted to catchthewind in Protein shakes and nausea
I get nauseous just THINKING about Protein Shakes. There is something about their taste and texture (and I've tried several) that is just disgusting to me. For the first few weeks after my surgery, I was okay with clear Protein drinks, but those started grossing me out after a while, too, and now the thought of those makes me gag.

Miss215 reacted to skyewolfe in Nausea treatment
Ok so update: just saw my surgeon, he’s scheduling me for an endoscopy in two weeks to check for strictures. I’ll let you guys know how it goes

Miss215 reacted to CammyC in Nausea treatment
I had my surgeon call me in a prescription of promethanzine?? It’s generic for fenegran or phenegren I don’t know how to spell it. It does make you drowsy but helped me so much.
im 3 weeks too and the only thing I’m eating right now is scrambled eggs and my Protein Shakes. Mostly anything else makes me super sick. I’m lactose intolerant now and hoping that will go away, but I can tolerate cottage cheese.

Miss215 reacted to MrsGamgee in When is my period going to come back?
My first cycle post op was on schedule... ish. It was a really wacky cycle, with several days of spotting before anything really happened, and then it was hard core intense for 2 days, then done. Surgery itself can mess us up royally, and then throw in the estrogen (was stored in fat) that's currently being dumped into our systems, the sudden lack of nutrients/vitamins, and our poor bodies get thoroughly confused. I've read some women take a few months for things to regulate again post op.
My personal hormonal battle right now is wicked acne. I've never had acne like this before, even in high school.
Hope things even out for you soon!

Miss215 reacted to MzToya in Period
I had the same experience as 2Bsmaller18...it was bad. It's the hormones that are out of wack. You know the portion of our stomach that was removed played a major part in hormone production, so it just takes time to get right again. I'm 8 months post op and they are normal and I'm on birth control again. I just took pamprin and Tylenol. Hang in there lady 🤗

Miss215 reacted to catwoman7 in Missed period?
it seems to be pretty common that people's hormone levels get screwed up for a few weeks or months after weight loss surgery. It should normalize after awhile. The reason is that estrogen is stored in fat cells, and it gets released and floods your system during rapid weight loss. Or at least that's the claim. Makes sense to me! At any rate, what you're experiencing is not unusual.
