Lanie992 got a reaction from L. Knight in Feeling frustrated at week 3
You're in a stall which could last 10 days to a month. You will start losing again. Your body is just confused right now. I know people advise to stop weighing yourself but for some of us - it is a compulsion. I've weighed myself every day since my surgery...
Once you accept that stalls will happen in your journey - you won't get as frustrated at the scale. Good luck!

Someone said in one of the groups I am in - that if you don't take Calcium supplements.. you could lose your teeth. Not sure how true that is. I already take calcium though and I am VERY good with my oral hygiene since the surgery.. since I get that nasty "keto breath" or whatever it is when you don't have a lot of carbs. Now I am brushing my teeth WAY more per day than I used to, ESPECIALLY with having to wear a mask because of Covid.

That makes sense. I will just see what I end up looking like in a few months when I lose the other 20 lbs. I didn't mean to hijack your thread!
You look great.. That is what hard work and determination did for you. Congratulations.

I made meatballs with Rao's marinara sauce yesterday. For the meatballs - you use ground beef, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, eggs and spices.. There are tons of recipes for low-carb meatballs - if you google.. it was so good. Ate some of the leftovers today & will have the rest tomorrow.
Also a favorite of mine is taco meat with lettuce and cheese served over Quest Protein Loaded Taco "chips". It taste just like a real taco! I eat that a few times a week - I love it so much. I only use 1/2 a bag of the chips per meal.

There is nothing you can do now about it - don't feel guilty. It solves nothing. A lot of the feelings of guilt lead to depression, then overeating in people with addictions to food. So don't look back -- only look ahead. You can't change it, so don't waste your time with it or risk doing it again by getting yourself down.
Just concentrate on sticking to the diet from here on out. Chin up! Good luck! And let us know how you're feeling once you have the surgery!! Much ❤ to you.

Me too. I think I only have one picture of me during my pre-sleeve op and I was hidden behind people so you can only see my face & can't tell my weight. I do wish I would have taken some of myself to keep for comparisons, but out with old and in with the new.
Anyway congratulations on the plastics. I hope everything goes well for you and there isn't too much pain. I will be keeping tabs on your progress, so keep us in the loop.

Oh my gosh! You are so tiny now! I bet you look amazing! They approved me at my "low" BMI (sounds weird saying that because I was still obese by BMI standards) because I had preexisting conditions: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and borderline diabetic.. also possible sleep apnea.
It absolutely is work -- nothing super hard but it does take dedication. I can easily eat over 1,000 calories now, so I really have to track my food intake.
My appetite came back when I started exercising aggressively with 1.5 hrs of cardio / 6 times a week.. I guess my metabolism sped up, but I was eating WAY more. I hope I haven't stretched my tummy.
I went down to exercising 3 times a week and my appetite is a little more controlled.
    Anyway - you're doing fantastic!!

I was 192 lbs and 5'5" - at my highest weight (besides one week after surgery when I gained 10 lbs from the IV fluids/air they fill you with/swelling??)... I had never been over 200 lbs.
I wore a size 10-12 in pants... and X-large in shirts.
I lost ALMOST 50 lbs pretty quickly and I can't seem to get below 138 lbs... I lose like 1 lbs per month since September.
It is one of the best decisions I've made for myself.
    I am a size 4 in pants now & a size small/medium in shirts.
I still want to lose weight and get down to 130-135 lbs so I can have some room to gain and lose... but I know that some of my weight is saggy skin in my underarm region and some on my lower belly. Which isn't bad, but I think without that skin - I'd likely be 5-10 lbs lighter.

I am 8 months out and nothing really tastes great to me, tbh. I don't have cravings really... I usually pick the thing I am wanting most, then I start eating it... and it's just, eh. Only thing that tastes great to me --- which I hadn't had really since my sleeve... was mayo. Yesterday I had a turkey sandwich on Aldi's Keto bread and only the mayo tasted good to me.
My favorite things in the world: chicken and ketchup - I really don't like anymore.
Thing is - I am hungry a lot. Like 2 hours after I eat - I get hungry again, so I do still eat but it is merely to stop my stomach from growling/feeling hungry... not because I enjoy it.

Great suggestions from others... if those don't work for you, then maybe try intermittent fasting.. Only eat during an 8 hour window. That seems to work for people. I am on a 10 day stall & I am so close to my goal. It is so frustrating.
I ramped up my exercise routine yesterday... and I am hoping that will work. If not, I am going to do intermittent fasting. Good luck!

Lanie992 reacted to GreenTealael in Has anyones portion sizes increased back to how they used to be?
    Hi!
At only 3 week's post op, it's possible that nerves in your digestive system are not fully functional yet, so you don't have the ability to feel fullness or restriction. That may change in time.
Try to stick to the measurements your Team has advised (e.g. 1/8, 1/4 cup over a 30 minute period) to prevent dramatically increasing your intake ahead of schedule.
Over time your portion sizes may increase, but not usually to pre surgery sizes.
    Good Luck ♥️

Yes! And so sorry about the depression -- I have it too unfortunately. Winter months, even in warmer climates, can be depressing. You're doing great and will do just fine!

Thanks friend, you’re so right. And I’m prone to depression this time of year (Seasonal Depression due to the darkness, we’re in sunny California, so it’s common!). I have been sticking to the diet since Christmas Eve (when I indulged a little), and I feel better with regards to the guilt. I’ve forgiven myself. It’s ok to make mistakes as long as you learn from them and move on. Much love to you as well.

I found the liquid diet to be far more mentally challenging than anything. It's hard to get through it, but challenge your MIND to stay strong. Focus on what you are nourishing your body with. You ARE getting what you need even though it doesn't feel like it. You got this. The 2 weeks of struggle are worth every. freaking. moment. You go this. ❤️

I had a little food at my mother-in-law’s today, but it was our only Christmas celebration, but I also had mostly Soup. I chewed slowly, and told myself that was the only solids I was going to allow myself to have in this whole liquid diet phase. Doesn’t matter, still feel guilty as all hell. I’m back to liquids already (had a Protein Shake for dinner), worked out an extra 40 minutes today to make up for it. Back to liquids tomorrow. 6 days until surgery (12/30)!

don't cheat anymore. Just white knuckle it. This is the worst part of the ordeal. If you don't cheat, it does get better by about day 3 or 4, because that's when your body goes into ketosis.

Honestly I feel like it could easily become a whole different type of eating disorder for some of us. It is so easy to replace eating with obsessing over losing weight/obsessing over the scale/calories, etc.
