  1. I have saved a ton of money. I used to spend around $20 a day on food. Definitely not doing that anymore! That's a HUGE plus for me.. It has helped lessen the blow of my deductible.
  2. It was for me -- I got the sleeve. It was on my liquid diet itinerary that started when I was still in the hospital.. As long as it is a "clear liquid" with no sugar and without carbonation, then it should be good. Gatorade Zero is considered "clear" even though they put dyes in it.

    4 Weeks and only 10lbs!

I stalled for over 3 weeks and it felt like eternity. I am now losing fast - I am 3 months out and losing about 4-5 lbs a week. I am preparing for a stall sometime soon though. I don't go over 600 calories - mainly because I pick and choose what I eat by carbs, sugar, fat AND calories. One thing that has helped me tremendously is eating the 1 net carb bread for Aldi's --- it is only 40 calories per slice. I toast two slices and put a little avocado on it (just a very thin layer) and the entire meal is about 110 calories! I buy the avocado cups at Sam's club.. Also I exercise every single day. If nothing else, I will do Leslie Sansone "walk at home" videos that you can find on youtube.

    So disappointed in people

Crazy. I am glad you can laugh now though~ And I am glad you came here for support. This is a really encouraging, supportive and non-judgmental group of people. I've found his site invaluable to me for an array of reasons.. Sometimes I just read & am just grateful to have this group. I am so sorry. I know how it feels and how much it hurts... and makes you feel alone. I cried many times because I felt so lonely and felt the drain of their negativity. I finally told myself I could do not go that route - it wasn't healthy and that's why I put all of it out of my mind... and concentrated solely on myself and my surgery. Maybe in a way their negativity helped me - I was NOT nervous at all because I was SO determined after dealing with that. You ALWAYS have our support here so just know that you DO have support. You can private message me anytime - if you need someone to talk to.
  5. I forgot to add that part in my post. Mine required two comorbidity as well. I know that these were considered comorbidities: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and diabetes.
  6. I guess it depends on the insurance, because high cholesterol is considered a co-morbidity with my insurance (BCBSTX). I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and I got improved with a 32 BMI. First attempt too. I will say I had a long history of those - guess they were sick of dealing with it. I was borderline diabetic too, but borderline definitely does NOT count. You have to be officially diagnosed with diabetes for it to count. Have you read your policy requirements thoroughly? I honestly did not think I would qualify but somehow I did? I'd wait until your sleep apnea test is completed and find out the results... and perhaps try another surgeon who would be more willing to help you.

    Protein shakes

I love chocolate Premier Protein... but the best protein drink, imo, is Fairlife Chocolate shakes. They are SO good.

    Reflux and Gastric Sleeve

I had a hiatal hernia repair with my sleeve too. I had daily reflux before the surgery but no longer have that issue. I will say I had some reflux yesterday after I over-ate. That was my mistake though.

Help! Ate too much! Pain in the middle.

Oh no. I've done that before too! Not paying attention to how much I was eating... it takes a minute to get to your stomach and by that time - it is too late. I am so glad it wasn't something major. Just take it easy and keep us updated.

Help! Ate too much! Pain in the middle.

Just wait it out... it will feel better.. It took me like 2 hours to feel better after overeating in the beginning. I rarely overeat now, but I did tonight and I am paying for it now.. just laying down waiting for the pain to subside.
  11. It was my first surgery too, but I was eerily calm as a cucumber. It's not that bad. The first few days are a little rough, but it gets easier each day. I am SO happy I had my surgery -- I feel so much better. I've lost 40 lbs in 3 months..... Just 17 more lbs and I will be at my goal. You got this. Do not worry. Just think about how much your life will change for the better once you have it done. I feel on top of the world right now. So happy and content. You will too! You will do great! Good luck and keep us updated on how it goes for you.

    Weight Gain Post VSG

There are keto options for ice cream, but you have to be read the ingredients to make sure it is still low carb/low sugar.. Some say they are keto, but they're not. But if you are eating a pint at a time - I don't think Keto ice cream is a good idea either, because the calories and carbs can add up. The serving size for Keto ice cream is three per pint. I would try to stay far away from ice cream, if you can. Get back on track and stay away from carbs and sugars.
  13. Yes, the same thing happened to me. I had never been above 200 lbs in my life, but I was post-surgery. The others are right... you are full of the air they pump in your stomach, the IV fluids AND there is swelling. Just wait a few days and it will go away. Don't worry. I flipped out too!

    So disappointed in people

I had ZERO supporters. None. Not one. No family or friends wanted me to do it. Everyone said it was too dangerous. One of my best friends told me - "just go the gym and not take the easy way out"... (as if this is easy, at all). I finally told everyone that I was going to do it regardless of what they think... and to just not talk about it with me at all, because I did not need their negativity. I know you have the added stress of needing your shifts to be covered, so your situation is a lot worse. I would say to just completely avoid the subject with them, but then you do need to have some communication with them to be able to make sure your job is covered. They really should NOT have gone to your director and said it was "too dangerous". That is over the line, in my opinion. No advice really... besides I wouldn't talk about it on social media. People seem to be really against the surgery & all the negative comments can really make you feel alone and isolated... I was so depressed leading up to my surgery - I can not put it into words... all because of the lack of support and what I felt like was negativity... (although they said it was out of concern, which I believe them... but it still FELT like negativity to me). Let us know how it goes.

    Water after Surgery

I am almost 3 months out and I still haven't been able to get 64 oz per day. I only get about half that. Hopefully no one judges me but I just can't sit and sip water all day either. I feel hydrated and haven't had any issues yet. But I know it is not optimal. when you are further out from surgery -- you will be able to drink more than just a few sips at a time.. I am hoping sometime soon I will be able to get more down, but it is just not happening right now.
  16. I had to wait a 7 weeks because my surgery hospital closed elective surgeries for the month of April... then I was scheduled the third week of May. Would have been WAY sooner if CoVid hadn't struck.

Oh, Just Another Plastics Story pt 2

That makes sense. I will just see what I end up looking like in a few months when I lose the other 20 lbs. I didn't mean to hijack your thread! You look great.. That is what hard work and determination did for you. Congratulations.

Oh, Just Another Plastics Story pt 2

It looks perfect - so natural! We are close to the same weight, but your weight is just dispersed perfectly. Mine is mostly in my stomach. I hate it so much. I hadn't planned on plastics, but it is so tempting!

    Protein shakes

It is SO good. I actually crave their chocolate shakes. I have 1-2 per day. It is very hard to find them, unless you have a Sam's membership. Luckily my mother does, so I stocked up on them. I sometimes will mix my Premier protein shakes with the Fairlife. Fairlife has a much more traditional, frothy milkshake taste..... while Premier has a bit more chocolately flavor, so I like to mix them sometimes. But if you can get your hands on the fairlife -- definitely go for it.

Oh, Just Another Plastics Story pt 2

You look amazing! Your stomach is so tight. You said you had lipo -- was it in your tummy region? Your butt also looks incredible. I doubt anyone would ever guess you had WLS or plastics!
  21. I had the same experience after I posted about walking 4 miles. I didn't walk at all on Sunday and Monday because I was so exhausted. I am still tired today.. lol. You are doing well though.
  22. Oh wow. I am amazed that you were able to walk for an entire hour just 6 days out. My first 3-4 weeks - I was so tired ALL the time. There is no way I could have walked an hour until week 4. I walked 4 miles yesterday for the first time.... usually I only walk 1-2 miles a day. You are going to be a marathon walker by the end of this. A lot of the rest is all very common unfortunately. I would stay away from sleeping on the tummy until your incisions are completely healed... like 4 weeks, if you can.
  23. I just realized this was for BYPASSERS, not all WLS. It only was in caps in the title....and I still missed it. 🙄 Sorry for posting in the wrong thread.
  24. What were your symptoms & what prompted you to go to the ER? I went to an emergency clinic once for dehydration from a stomach virus a long time ago... my legs literally would not work. I could not walk. I crawled it was so bad. Hope things get easier for you (and me too lol).

    Is this it?

I think you're doing great for your height! You really are in the "normal weight" realm as others posted. But I understand - we all have a goal. Definitely try the intermittent fasting thing. It has helped a lot of people and it's not hard to do at all.
