I am lucky that my kids moved out, savings lots. I have just started the process and I don’t start the pre op diet till July 1st and am saving for the added costs of getting the foods listed on my dieticians diet plan. I am just, like you, trying to figure out the diet when I finally make it to solid food again. Keep smiling, you will find a way. I have just started exploring this site and find it very informative so far. So hopefully I will find good alternatives for more expensive items.

I finally received the call today that my surgery was approved and will be on July 16 for Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. I’m a ball of emotions! I started this journey back in September 2019 to complete the long list of insurance requirements with different doctor’s & specialists, and attended WLM each month. Then Covid hit right as I had completed everything on my checklist. I have been in limbo land waiting to see what would shake out.

Honestly, even though it’s overdue I was still surprised that they’re getting me in as soon as they are. I just hope nothing goes sideways from here to there with my date, because that would just be my luck at this point lol! I’m excited to get more active on here with a great group of knowledgeable people! Good luck to all you fellow July surgery patients! See you all on the losers bench!

I had a food funeral before my presurgery diet. Went out and got chinese buffet and ate as much as I could until it was painful. Kinda made me hate the food, honestly, but... it's rough, but the farther out you are from having the surgery, the more likely you'll realize you don't miss those foods. Or, if you're missing them something fierce, once you can eat regular foods again, look for healthy alternatives. I still eat pizza a lot, but I make a ground chicken crust and put a lot of veggies on top. I still eat Chinese-style foods, but I make them at home with very little oil and a lot of protein/veggies.
The fear of missing food is pretty rough at first, but you'll realize that feeling good and healthy is a lot nicer, too.

WOW ..... First of all welcome and there are a bunch of us here that had the same issues you do!
    1. Is it worth it? This is really a stupid question but i will answer it .... You need to read my history of posts because every question you have here I have answered 20 times already! You have two options,
    a. Stay the way you are addicted to food and on a direct path to disease that will make you miserable and you will end up dead shortly. You have a addiction like everyone on this site and it will kill you!
    B. Put on your big girl panties get the surgery which is only a tool and get you life back, You are huge right now and i will tell you if you use this tool properly it will save you life!
NOBODY HERE REGRETS SAVING THERE LIFE AND GETTING HEALTHY! NO REGRETS
    2. is life normal? There is no normal! Yes my life is better I can actually breath move and do things i never could do when i was fat, unhealthy, overweight and getting ready for the URN!
    3. Support Group? F@#ck your support group. This is you decision and you have to do it, Poeple will help you and you have all the support you need right here! But WTF are you already looking for others to carry you when this is your problem, reach deep and be ice queen and get this done. Any support you get will be a benifit but you have to have the mind set to do this! Just do it!
    4. Lose weight first? Depends on how you are paying. I payed cash so i did not have to lose anything just sign the papers and 7 days later was under the knife! But some insurances i have seen run you thru the ringer first. You are already reaching for excuses to not do it. Not a good sign
    5. skin? Really you are worried about skin, So you have some lose skin...... Beats carrying 240 plus pounds on you heart and body that will kill you! For me as a male was not a issues. and BTW loose 300 pounds and then go in for the Mommy makeover sugery. Once again you are lookin for a out to not be healthy!
    6. hair lose? Not really a issue and it does end so no long term issue.
Ok now that you know me i am a straight shooter that will tell it like it is! Do not take it personally just the facts. What i see from your post is someone who is making every excuse and reason to not get healthy. this tool will save your life bottom line and everyone here will help you do it. Read this site and look at how many people have saved there own lifes and become healthy.
    Including me@

Just got the Revision from a 2013 LSG to DS 10 days ago. I'm recovering well and seeing excellent results. Everything went better than expected. Just graduated to Puree stage today after four weeks of a liquid diet. The diet was satisfying and I never went hungry. Now I'm adding some new foods to my diet for this 2 week stage.
In these COVID-19 times, the hospital does not allow visitors so no family could visit during my 5 day stay. I had four other required procedures that week for a total of 3 surgeries over 4 days.
I've seen a lot of great, relevant information on this forum. I look forward to getting through the journey with all of you.

I used to see it the same way you did until I spent some time researching how challenging it is to function after WLS. Weight Watchers and the treadmill is NOTHING compared to this. Now I see it as being the hardest thing I will ever do to try and cure my obesity. I hope I'm strong enough.

I’m also in Indiana. I was originally scheduled for March 24. My new date is June 4. I was told they are evaluating each case individually and not just by original date. They are slowly resuming all surgeries and there is a lot of competition for operating room time. They said I am getting in early because I am low risk. I was also among the most screwed by the Governor’s executive order. If I were just a week earlier, I would have made it through.
Long frustrating story short... No one really knows anything about what to expect from the fallout of this pandemic. We can share stories, but it’s just anecdotal and won’t provide any hard & fast realistic expectations.
I have spent the extra time reading through education resources, experimenting with Protein sources, cutting bad habits, and trying to drop a few pounds.
Hang in there. I know it’s hard.
