Try Isopure Protein mixes they are smoother and offer more flavors.
i made a good one with chocolate protein, unsweetened applesauce and a small scoop of Peanut Butter, a couple slices of banana and coconut almond milk. You can make it as thin as you want. It was delicious and curbed my nausea.

What? They cut out PART of our stomach, not the whole thing. We still have nerves and sensors in our stomach.
We also still have other nerves and sensors in the rest of our body that are sensitive to nutrient levels. Your rapid post-op fat loss is going to cause a rapid drop in leptin levels, because leptin is made by fat cells. Leptin normally makes you feel full - dropping levels make you feel hungry. Also, your muscle cells are sensitive to insulin, Protein, and glucose levels.

There are multiple mechanisms that control hunger in the body - bariatric surgery affects only the gherlin pathway because gherlin is made by the stomach.

There's no way a person can be eating only a few hundred calories a day after bariatric surgery, but the "hunger is all in their head."

THANK YOU! ♥️ I’m honestly doing much better. I’ve balanced my diet to include as much Protein as I can handle and the hunger isn’t my constant companion anymore 😂

I’m 16 days out and on the soft foods, purée phase. Once you are off full liquids and can start consuming more substantial food the hunger will ease. I was very discouraged at first with the hunger pains and yes. It is a mind game for sure! Keep following your dr instructions and listen to your body. I have been hungry or so I thought a couple of times on the soft foods phase but when I began eating, I fill up sooner than I thought I would. You’ll figure it out day by day.
oh and yes, the incisions do get itchy. I e always heard that means your skin and wounds are healing so that’s a good thing. 😊

    NO NO NO-
None of you are hungry! You are addicted to food like everyone else on this site! You are bored and you head is playing games with you. You do not need to eat and consume non stop.
We all had to get thru this phase! You are in the head game stage and you are not hungry! You head is tricking you to think you are hungry. Your nerves and sensors were cut out. So how the heck are you getting hunger pains when you only have a 4 oz pouch. Tv marketing and packaging is everywhere. There are so much more things in life then a box of Cookies or chips. I had the same issue until I started taking the BariatricPal Complete Multivitamin 45 capsules. I'm not being paid for this endorsement either, I truly have flipped my nausea issue around after starting to use these instead of all the others that made me want to barf.

Hi all, sleeved in March 3, so it's been 3 weeks. I've lost a total of 16lbs. I'm trying to be happy about it, but honestly, I thought it would go quicker. I'm measuring my food, sticking to 2 premier shakes a day, sticking to lean Proteins, measuring my 1.5 oz servings. Drinking my Water. I lost 9 lbs the first week, 4 lbs the second, and 3 lbs the third week. I'm averaging between 60 and 70 grams of Protein and about 600 to 650 calories a day. I think my calories are too high. Suggestions?

19lb in three weeks is great, some people lose more some people lose less. It's hard not to do, but comparing our weight loss at this this with others really robs of us joy. If your doctor didn't give any expectations of rate of weight loss at this perhaps you are placing undue pressure onself by expecting to have lost weight quicker?
I was advised my my doctor and dietician not to worry so much about weight loss in the first month or so, body is still healing, lots of inflammation, hormones as well as people progress through the food phases there will be days or even a week or so without weight loss.
While it may feel concerning that weight loss appears to be slowing down, it is still only early stages and once your body heals and you are more incidentally active hopefully things will improve as long as you are following your post op guidelines. Is your doctor and/or dietician happy with your progress so far? You will find many posts on here about the 'three or four week stall' a lot of people experience it.

Yeah, I wouldn't weigh but once a week. The weight will come off over time. Once I get more energy, I'm going to start to look into exercise tapes on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

This question “comes up” all the time. I think the best response I have read is that generally they prefer you to wait until you are home from hospital

    @Mello1
The wrap should help a lot. I used it quite a bit. I just sleeping on my side yesterday, so you are doing very well in that category.
I am surprised that you have an appetite, but everyone is different. I too had a hard time with meeting hydration and Protein goals. I finally found a good unflavored Protein Powder. It's by Isopure, its unflavored and I added it to my unsweetened applesauce this morning and couldnt taste it. Last night I had Soup, and couldnt taste it in the soup either.
Everyone says walking helps...keep it up!!!

Hey all. Day 8 post op. Been so hungry and been difficult to get all of the Liquid Protein in, but getting the Water in. Finally can sleep on my sides-somewhat; helps to sleep better due to back issues. First day of taking Vitamins and will have some full liquids later today. Will bubble wrap myself and attempt a short walk (probably just around the parking lot).

its a life sentence, However it may not be 60 You can do a hydration test and back it down a little. For example I only drink 48-50 oz now a day and I am fine and hydrated. But this is a long way out Many months.
Also if you hate Water as much as I do, eat a Soup for lunch every day it has water, Suck on a popsickle lots of water in that, offsets the drinking it a little

Go to a Mexican restaurant and carry out refried Beans. They are already pureed! Or if you can find an open Chinese restaurant (for some odd reason all of them are closed in our area) and get some egg drop Soup. Bon appetit and thanks for thinking of our economy!👍👍👍

Hello beautiful people of this site!
just saw on Twitter where US restaurants are encouraging a Great American take out day to help the economy. Now I’m all about helping the economy in what we can do...
I’m in the purée / soft foods phase. Did any of y’all have a go to from your favorite restaurant that you just had to have in soft food form? You brought it home and put it in the food processor? Or what will you be taking out because you’ve graduated to full foods?

I'm only 9 day post op, but I prep new foods with hesitation. I was provided a very inclusive binder for weight loss surgery. It includes macros, examples of receipes to use at each stage, and examples of a daily menu to mimick at home to meet nutritional needs. I use it as a guide,to say oh...I can have this and that, eventhough I have no appetite.
I downloaded a bariatric cookbook yesterday, it includes options for each stage. Most is for the pureed and general diets, but I picked it because it tells which recipe is okay for which stage. And reviews say that people have been using it years after their procedures to stay on track. There are some a few taboo things in their bypass people can't eat, but sleeve or band people can so you have to know your personal dog's and don'ts. It's called "fresh start bariatric cookbook by sarah kent if you want to check it out.
The reviews were mixed, I checked b&n and Amazon. I figured it was worth a peek. That's if you are into receipes. I'm usually not, but I knew I would need a little help with this nutrition stuff.

Did you throw out your big clothes as motivation to never return to your pre-weight, or did you keep your old clothes 'in case' you regained your weight?
I am tempted to throw away my clothes as I (hopefully) lose weight post-procedure but I am worried I'll need them again in the future.
    What are your thoughts?!

Sorry, somehow didn't see this notification til now. Weird!
Talked to Zare for my 2 wk check up today via phone due to the virus, even though Monday is technically 2wks. Took total of 3 mins since I"m so lucky thinks have been going well.
I blended up some cooked mushrooms last night to add to my chicken bullion and was in heaven! And today had a little bit of bolognese with my lunch Tomato Soup So far so good, but won't push it beyond that. Just felt so weak after walking workout.
You're totally right, the hunger seems to be related to Water intake, so pushing that as much as I can. I'm having trouble w/the daily Vitamin mix they gave. It seems to activate my asthma a little which in the early days was a big deal since the coughing killed, but now the incisions are almost healed. I'll probably switch to some other version, although it does force me to drink more water.
So sorry to hear about the shots! Haven't heard about those before, but sound miserable! I start the gallstone meds on Monday (eek.)
Well, hope you and yours are staying healthy through all this & thanks for the encouragement!
