Stinkerbells2ndact reacted to mi75 in Bought some new protein powder today...
Well upon the advice of my bariatric team, I bought some new Protein Powder today. SIX YEARS post op. Yup, it still works though! My surgeon wants me to work on a specific health thing and feels like doing a 'pre op' style diet for a few weeks will trigger my body to do what he needs it to.
Since I've developed a serious lactose intolerance post op, I'll be using some unsweetened almond milk as a sub.
I'm actually looking forward to getting this level of focus back in my life. With all the chaos going on in the world around me, it will be good to let me focus on something else....

@CammyC Thank you! I have been trying to be consistent with my "laps" around the block while the gym is closed. I thought I had some weights around here but I think I will have to order some from Amazon.

Stinkerbells2ndact reacted to CammyC in Going back to work tomorrow and I’m scared
I’ve been on LOA since my surgery date of 3/3/20. I’ve asked my surgeon to extend my absence as long as I can and I go back to work tomorrow morning.
I work at one of those megabanks where people like me - not in the upper echelon - don’t get to work from home.
I’m considered one of those essential workers that must report to work regardless.
I’m scared. From what I’ve heard moral is super low at my office due to those of us that are forced to go into work.
I live with my family and that includes my 74 year old mother who has diabetes, my brother and his wife and their kids—my niece and nephew—who are 6 and 4 respectively.
I work in metro Atlanta in the same county with the highest amount of cases in all of GA which is Fulton County.
my sister-in-law were in tears earlier today anticipating me going back into the office where I can bring this virus home to my mother - she is whom we all want to protect the most.
I’ve been with my this corporation since 2006. They’ve been really good to me and protected me and helped move me when I was fleeing my abuser from my past DV relationship.
My brother and his wife both have jobs that allow them to work from home. I don’t. I am also grateful that I have a career where I am still going to get a paycheck. So many others are hurting for money right now.
Im just scared and I wanted to say so. I’ll do everything I can to protect my family. But I’m about to go out into this mess. I wanted to say thank you to all those others in essential fields required to stay open and in operation during this pandemic. I’ve had it good for a few weeks. I wish everyone out there stays safe and healthy. May God watch over all of us and our families. ❤️

Hi and welcome,
I’m relatively new too. Just joined a couple days after my surgery 3/9.
If I remember correctly you put your stats in under your profile under “My surgery” tab towards the bottom. I remember some stuff being laid out very different in a computer vs. your mobile device. Hope that helps. If not, lmk and I’ll do more investigating.
Best of luck ❤️

You're not asking a stupid question. And it's not TMI. Goddamnit, people depress me sometimes.
First: when did you have surgery? Have you done coke before, and is this typical? Had you had alcohol since your surgery?
Just based on the timing, I'd guess that you've got a stomach bug and that this isn't related to the drug use. Anyone vomiting for three days would feel ache in their stomach. Did you have a flu shot this year? Are you drinking a ton of Gatorade or Pedialyte to make up for the dehydration? If not, your symptoms are just going to feel worse.
Even if this reaction has nothing to do with the coke or booze, you know that introducing a rogue element into a healing system isn't a good idea, obviously, and you'll be more careful in future. Good.
Few things make me bristle with rage. Idiotic responses like this would be one of them. Her question was related to WLS, since she's concerned there's been an interaction between the drugs and the surgery. She's asking for help because she's worried. I am incredibly angry that your response was the first here, as it is worthless.

Stinkerbells2ndact got a reaction from CammyC in How often do you weigh?
I’m weighing twice a week. Wednesdays & Sundays. Originally was trying for once a week, but couldn’t hold back.
Super frustrated since I actually gained a pound this time! WTH! So unfair when I 🤮 yesterday due to Vitamins not settling. Seems like I’m checking all the right boxes, so, who knows? Trying to not obsess, but don’t get it. As Scarlett says...”Tomorrow is another day...” although in this case it’s a Wednesday since I’ve got to wait til next weigh in for hope, lol.

I was only supposed to do 2 weeks to begin with but i took it upon myself to do an extra week because i have fatty liver disease so i thought i would be helping by doing the liquid diet another week. When they cancelled they just told me to wait for them to call to tell me to start the 2 week diet again. Thank you for the advice.

Stinkerbells2ndact reacted to catwoman7 in Wondering WHY I did it!
most people lose 15-25 lbs the first month. Yes some lose more and some lose less, but the majority seem to lose somewhere in that range. So you're absolutely normal! I lost 16 lbs the first month, if that makes you feel any better. And I ended up losing 100% of my excess weight, so...

Stinkerbells2ndact reacted to Lily66 in Wondering WHY I did it!
Hi Grace, I totally understand! But we have to be patient and take things with a grain of salt. For instance, my profile shows a 21lb loss. But 12 of those were pre WLS, so in 2.5 weeks that’s only a 9lb loss, not 21. I get why they suggest we not compare ourselves to others, because we cannot see the entire story.
During my post op I mentioned to surgeon that I wasn’t losing as much as others...he cited pre op WL often results in a slower early post op loss as the body wants to preserve itself, but being patient, following the program, we will lose! Also, you and I Grace are a tad bit older than some, and our metabolism doesn’t kick it like in our 30’s, 40’s, even 50’s!
So this morning I said to myself, “Myself? Yea, a lot of work, angst, etc. for 21 measly pounds.” BUT, I have NEVER been able to lose 21lbs before so WHAT A VICTORY! Gracie, we may be slightly slower in losing, but perhaps our skin will benefit from the pause and not need surgery. Surgeon also cited those with a higher starting BMI will usually lose much faster.
You and I had this vision of pounds seemingly effortlessly, rapidly melting away! It’s happening! We just have to envision it melting away until we can see. Love and Hugs!

Stinkerbells2ndact reacted to alissajs in Stalling for TWO MONTHS.
What type of foods are you eating? I had surgery 1/7 and there is no way I can get close to 1200 calories at this point...not to mention 90 grams of carbs. I have to struggle to get 500 calories at this point.

Stinkerbells2ndact reacted to biginjapan in Stalling for TWO MONTHS.
90g of carbs is still quite high. Have you tried cutting back on carbs? That might help kickstart your weight loss again. I'm only 3 weeks out but I'm trying to stay under 40 net carbs/day (although I'm not always successful at that). Also, have you talked to your surgeon/nutritionist? If you stopped losing weight then there may be something else that is impacting this.

Yes, I'm cold all the time! I didn't think this would start until I lost a substantial amount of weight. I'm sitting here with two blankets and a shawl on and sleep with an electric blanket on at night.
