Good luck on your upcoming procedure. I’m getting ready to schedule mine. I’m having sleeve revision to the D Loop. Please let us know how the procedure went for you, if it was an easier recovery and how it’s working. You’ve got this!!

Statistics show better long term results with DS. I’m revising from sleeve to DS for this reason.

In retrospect I wish I had the chance to do it all at once instead of sleeve only. I’m not a super high BMI.

Then again at the time I had sleeve done 6 years ago, I didn’t think there was any way that I would ever regain so there’s that. 🤷‍♂️

He did not touch the sleeve, he said it was the appropriate size. I think most of the time it is..I had already had my gallbladder removed.

    Yes, here is update.
It took a little longer for me to heal for the DS over the sleeve. My belly was sore and bloated for a solid 2 weeks, with painful gas. It was a pretty uncomfortable recovery in the hospital. I had mine in Mexico and they really don't give you any pain meds.
I now have figured out what I can eat. Pretty much anything I want!! Minus sugar...I have found I can still eat bread on my sandwich with no ill effect, and can have just a few bites of dessert. I can have 1 slice of pizza, steak and corn on the cob, roast beef, ... nothing really bothers my stomach. Since I am trying to lose, I do limit my portions, but I'm fully satisfied. Do not feel like I'm missing out at all, nor do I have uncontrollable cravings. I have found that if I eat too much of a carb or sugar, I will have gas and alot more loose stool the next day. It's not like uncontrollable diarrhea or anything, just have to go alot. For that reason it's really not worth it to overeat on carbs, and it keeps me from doing it. And I try to limit my carbs for the weight loss effect, not low carb by any means... just do half a piece of bread with sandwich, etc.
The bathroom situation is not as horrible as a lot made it out to be. I had problems with constipation before, so it's actually nice to have looser stools. It is more stinky, but it's worth it!! I have not had any accidents..when I'm traveling I take Devrom tablets, and it takes the stinkies away.
It took awhile for me to trust the weight loss from malabsorption. At first I didn't trust it, and was eating hardly anything at all, and it actually slowed my weight loss. Once I trusted it, and ate like a normal person (about 1000-1300 cals a day) the weight started coming off. I have lost 12 since July 20. It's slow but steady. I average about 2 lbs a week... before my DS when I would try so hard doing Keto, or 1000 cals a day ( which felt like starvation) I absolutely would not lose.
For Breakfast I usually have 4 sausage links or low sugar oatmeal. For lunch a deli meat sandwich with cheese and mayo, usually on just one piece bread. For dinner, usually grill a meat with a veggie, or do tacos, or bacon avacado sandwich, or egg drop Soup with 2 crab rangoon. Or I also love Amy's frozen cheese enchiladas. I try not to snack between meals, because most Snacks are carb heavy. If I do, I'll do cheese sticks.
Any questions, please ask. Would I do it over again, heck yes.

good morning.... Pretty much the same status i started with .... it was 2009 and at 5'2" and 232lbs. I had NO self confidence and NO sense of self. My x brought me to nothing. He (6'4" not overweight) is the most self-centered, selfish, controlling, norcicistic man you will ever met. I took it for 26 years... technically 29, we dated for 3 years. It was a gradual thing... At first it was my friends, then my co-workers, then my family. We would only do things with his friends and family. I could never do anything with friends and co-workers only if he was there. Family, i could on holidays and he would never come. He controlled everything even though i work all the time (2-3 jobs sometimes). He took all of my main jobs money. I was able to keep the cash of the other (waitress). This is what i used to buy personal stuff and my kids things. I couldn't even buy underwear without his approval. I would sew up the holes just to avoid an argument. Cut my kids pants for shorts for school.... it was ruff.
I thought all those years ago, if only i were skinny i could make him happy. Make him love me again, make him want to be with me sexually... and life would be fine. But NO, life after the band got worse. From day one he hated the thought of me losing weight. He was very degrading to me and one of the biggest was my weight. Of course, he told me all the "normal" things you tell a large person..... Your fat, no one will ever want you, you are disgusting, Lazy.... that i was ugly... But when i tried to lose weight he would always sabotage it. He knew and would still make me bring him home cake, pie, ice cream...., Then say, you don't have to eat it. Well when i decided to have WLS, he fitted out... he did everything in his power to get me to change my mind, and when i didn't and was doing my 2 week liquid diet..... he decided to go on a 4 day bike drive to the mountains. I stood strong and didn't cheat not once. As it would turn out, that trip saved me.... My company did a massive lay off and i was to be part of the over 100 to be let go. But because i wasn't there they couldn't lay me off. That Tuesday i had the band sx and went back to work the following Monday and lost my job and insurance.... It was a blessing in disguise. Over the next year, i lost 69lbs. the next year i lost 20lbs and that's pretty much where i stayed. In 2012 without him know till two day before i had a TT w/MR and Lipo to the flanks..... HOLY HELL was he mad. I thought i didn't come all this way to be left with saggy skin... As my confidence grew my tolerance of him got less and less. Even with him still degrading me.... I was too skinny, looked like a bag of bones, still ugly, but now he pointed out the wrinkles. And through it all...... Why are you losing weight? You must be cheating... NO. In 2014ish.... i got to the point where i hated going home. My oldest was out the house and married and my youngest was on his way. There was nothing at home except my dog and a hateful miserable husband. I asked him so many times for counseling... he said, if you pay for it, i'll go, but i don't need that, there is nothing wrong with me.... It's all you. That was it, the last straw... i started preparing my self to be on my own. In July of 2015 i told him that if things didn't change, i was filing for divorce come January. He of course didn't believe me, well January came and i filed. He still didn't believe i would go through with it.... but when i started going out and leaving him home he finally got it. I was gone forever. I made him move out July 4th.... My independence day..... It was like the world was lifted off me. I could breathe. And i figured if i had too, i would work 3 jobs again... My weight went up and down over the years, but never more than 20lbs.... i was at my lowest when he left 130ish. But got back to my normal 143lbs.
Dating was exhausting and fun all in one. Then in Oct i signed up for Match on a "free" week just to see what was out there in crazy land. And i met the man of my dreams.... we talk, texted for a few weeks and then met in person. I never knew men could be like this. Opened doors, pulled out chairs, walk nearest the road, carried my luggage, complimented me, listen to all my crap... Including that i was dating others and was NOT interested in a relationship. But i found myself comparing all the other men to him... and my friend said, men like him and one in a billion, take him before someone else does..... and i did. He is the most incredible man, supports me in everything including my revision to the sleeve a year ago..... and our 1 year wedding is on the 28th...

I wish I knew that the sleeve won’t in any way help keep weight off past year 2 and that it is normal for the sleeve to stretch to regular capacity by that point with no reduction in appetite.

I’m done with him personally. There was an OOTD For Men thread where a handsome man with a great outfit posted his picture and this “new and improved” completely fat shamed him. It was disgusting and I don’t see how he’s still a member here. If I can find the thread (I think the man deleted it) I’ll find someone to send it to to put an end to this crap. I’m not spending money or even advertising clicks here any longer while people like that are allowed to insult and degrade people who are trying to better themselves.

Yes year 3 weight gain very common. The sleeve effect wears off somewhere between year 2 and 3.

Agree with suggestion to track your intake to see what you are really eating in terms of calories now.

I am a revision patient from sleeve to modified DS. I haven’t read Wisconsin_Gals post but from my personal experience any strong odors or diarrhea is from my own bad behavior. If I’m playing by the rules I have neither. Good luck with your decision!

Best wishes to those of you getting ready. On hair loss: you will 99% chance have hairloss from about months 3 to 6 post surgery.

The losses will be apparent on your hands, brush, pillow, stylists comb, but not necessarily noticeable on your head. That will depend.

Anyway you can’t likely avoid it, so my suggestion is save your money and focus on your program. The hair will surely work its own dang self out. Soon you will be slim and trim!

I am so sorry you are having a hard time!

Have you tried other liquids than plain Water, such as regular or herbal tea or flavored waters, sports drinks or broths and also try them hot or even at room temperature as well as cold. My favorite drink in my post op months was hot chai latte made with a celestial seasonings chai tea bag steeped in hot water for 5 minutes, then add 1/2 of a Splenda packet and one single serve tub of half and half or mini moo.

Personally I still cannot drink plain cold water to this day at 6 years out...still gives me nausea.
