Chelsea0604 reacted to Tufflaw in Weight loss with revision
I've noticed the weight loss is slower after the revision but still moving at a steady clip. I had my revision to bypass in Nov 2021 so still losing but I'm noticing more plateaus and slowdowns, it eventually starts moving again though so no concerns.

I did sleeve to bypass revision. Same number of incisions, except they had to put a drain in for a week after the bypass. Same level of pain/uncomfortable, which was not a lot in my case. I only took the painkillers for two days and stopped because I didn't need them. I think I felt worse immediately after surgery when I had the bypass, but that may be because I was out for a longer period of time so I was more groggy. That was just in the hospital though, it felt about the same when I got home.

I'd sure love to know the answer to that myself. The sleeve was laparoscopic, so I had a LOT of referred shoulder pain. Is the RNY laparoscopic with a few small incisions, or is a larger incision than the sleeve incision(s)?

stalls will eventually break as long as you continue to follow the rules.
and weight loss DOES slow down the closer you get to goal. The last 20 lbs for me was an absolute BEAR to get off - took probably a good 4-6 months. That's true of more normal-weight people, too. I used to roll my eyes at these slightly overweight women at Weight Watchers who'd moan and complain about how hard it was to lose 10 lbs. Now I totally get it...

pain is all across the board with these surgeries, but most people seem to have little to no pain with it. I've never had kids, but most women who have report it's WAY easier than childbirth (or C-sections)

I had difficulties & pain on swallowing for the first couple of days after surgery due to swelling. My back then went into spasm due to the tension I was holding. But as to surgery pain I had very little. Was easily managed in hospital. First day home I took one of the strong prescribed pain killers in the morning, the second day home was a single over the counter pain med & then nothing else. I don’t think I even needed those. I didn’t even have gas pain (very appreciative of that after hearing about the experiences of others).
    Good luck with your surgery.

I have 2 days left and I'm excited. Can't even sleep because I've been hyping myself up all night. I'm sure I'll be nervous when I'm laying down being carted into the surgery room though. The people that got their surgery before the pandemic are so lucky they got to have family members and friends with them before they got to go in. They won't even let my family past the main entrance.

I go in tomorrow for my surgery. Nervous, Nervous, Nervous and trying to pass the time and keep my mind busy, because it's nothing but fluids today. My husband will be about to enter with me and meet me at recovery, but not allowed once I get a room. This replies are helping me out, like you can't believe.

I was excited and nervous and second-guessing myself up thru the time I saw the surgeon the morning of surgery. I even asked him if he thought I was doing the right thing right before they rolled me in! I'm 6 weeks post-op - and no real regrets yet!

Yes, I felt the same way. It was a 15 month process with me from my first consultation to my surgery. Even the day before I was thinking "this is nuts, why am I doing this" but I'm so glad I went through with it.
YOU WON"T BE SORRY STAY THE COURSE!

Not my first surgery but by far the easiest recovery! The gas pain sucked, but I knew that going in and walked and walked. I really had very little pain at the incision sites. I think I took one Norco and then just used extra strength Tylenol. Good luck!

It was my first surgery too. I wasn't in the pain when I was still in the hospital (day 1 & 2). They had me on morphine every 2 hours.
Day 3 and 4 were pretty bad.. not gonna lie. I had no idea how much morphine was helping me.. Things progressively started getting better from day 5 on... . I only took my pain meds (tylenol 3) for 3 days (through day 5) and then I was off them.
I was uncomfortable for about 2 weeks after surgery, but not in pain.. I didn't even bother with regular OTC pain meds.
The pain level wasn't excruciating though. I'd go back & have it done again in a heartbeat, if I needed to.

Hello! Everyone is different of course but I have to tell you that my recovery was pretty easy with no complications. I did my sleeve back in July 2018. Best decision I ever made!! Good luck to you! I wish you a easy recovery and much success!!
