You're almost there! The liquids is the hard part. My advice. Order a clear Soup from a restaurant you love. I have two, one is chicken noodle from a specialty chicken place in MO called Strouds and the other is a limey Thai broth. Strain one cup broth in a strainer (or less with Water mixed in if it's really salty) and mix in a scoop (or even half) of genpro Protein Powder (30 grams of pro a scoop). It mixes and disappears. Then pour your broth into a mug and sip. I do it 3 times a day with half a scoop of genopro for 45 grams Protein and it's easy and tasty. Saved me on those long liquid days. Ate an egg today. It was HEAVEN!

Hi gang. Making an attempt to check in again. First let me say I know that I’ve had a rougher time than most so if you’re reading mine and it concerns you don’t think that my experience is the normal. I still find getting on electronics makes me queasy and I’m thinking that’s because of all the meds I received in the hospital. So I’m dictating this on my phone please forgive the grammatical errors and wrong words.
  5. Thanks

SO proud of you, MaybeMeow! You’re coming right along. You and I share a similar philosophy: “I am determined to not let MY CHOICE to do this surgery make them feel guilty for indulging.”. I’m right there with you! Hubs is 6ft and BMI of 21, can and does eat whatever he wants. Why should he suffer my journey? If tables were turned I sure wouldn’t want him placing that control on me.
At first, post op there were tough moments, I was green eyed monster over his Chilli’s Steak quesadilla carryout, or his home made key lime pie in fridge, but each time I resisted and let myself feel HAPPY for him, I grew stronger in my resolve and strength—and HE grew stronger in his love and respect for me. food was NOT scaring nor tempting me ANY LONGER. I have since then taken one bite of his ‘this or that’ to find I no longer have a taste for it and THAT WAS WONDERFULLY LIBERATING!
Keep on Keepin’ on Strong Woman!💃💪💝

How’s everyone feeling today? We’ve got some newly post ops and a couple about to go. @Groovymommy I’m getting excited for you! Today is decidedly better for me. Less soreness. Less queasy. I had some fat free Greek yogurt with a little unsweetened applesauce ( about 3 tablespoons) and my Protein broth. My family is currently eating burgers with all the fixings including guacamole and fried eggs, seasoned curly fries and chocolate cake. So I am hiding out in the bedroom. I am determined to not let my choice to do this surgery make them feel guilty for indulging. Those fries smell amazing. But frankly I’m just relieved I think so cuz that is the opposite of nausea.

    Check in Bypassers!

    ONWARD!

Also have cysts in my breasts. Every mammo turns into an ultrasound. Maybe we were separated at birth. Never heard of EP helping but definitely going to try it... after recovery. No stomach upset with either?

Propel Water (lemon flavor is my favorite) is also good. I learned that from a youtuber. It has electrolytes in it & it is flavored but not as intense of a flavor as Gatorade Zero / G2 .. Hope you are holding up okay.. Day 4 was my worst day. Everything has gotten better since then-- keep that in mind.

Hello Gang! So sorry for going MIA on you. I just got home from the hospital one hour ago. While my surgery went well, I became extremely nauseated in recovery and stayed that way for the next 48 hours. Gang... if there had been a death-button I might've pushed it. I can't describe the misery and I won't try but I did at one point become delirious because I was so miserable for so long. ANYWAY... they did everything they could to relieve me and eventually it just stopped. So then I was in this glorious high. The pain, which I only noticed AFTER the nausea left is mild to moderate and tylenol helps. I am home and sipping and walking. I just ate a 1oz Jello shot with 2 grams Protein and it seems to be going ok. I was thinking about my Bypass buds and hoping Lici and Chubby were faring better than I. I am so happy to be home in bed surrounded by a body pillow and my dog and listening to the happy sounds of my family in the house. I will post a play-by-play as I really appreciated when others did it for me but I'm going to close my eyes for a bit first. Thank you so much for sending the good thoughts. Lici it sounds like yours was a breeze and I'm so pleased. More soon!

Hi Gang! I'm Meow. I was scheduled for a 100cm Bypass on June 29th and they just moved me UP to June 9th! AHHHHHHH! I'm usually pretty grounded with life's hurdles but all the sudden my mind went blank and I thought "I'M NOT READY!" Any other May, June, July Bypassers want to join up and share and support? I'm not sure how to put my stats in my profile but I am 5' 5" female. Late 40s. 220# at the Doc yesterday. Goal weight is 150. Having BYPASS instead of Sleeve due to life-long reflux. Told I only need to do 3 days liquid liver shrink beforehand since my BMI is only 36. Feel both overloaded with info and under-prepared to say goodbye to the contrasting albatross/joy that is food in my life. Both glad and nervous about the timing as it feels like an easier time to stay away from friends and family who social-eat until I get a handle on my new digestive system. But also I'm pretty bored as my line of work is largely halted until the conditions are far safer. Likely won't have regular work until 2021. I'm ashamed to say the last 2 months have been more of a food funeral than I anticipated so I have a lot of mind-prep to do in the next 2 weeks. I am keeping this a private journey. Only my husband and best friend know. Even keeping my tween daughter in the dark at least for now. Would love some buddies who check in frequently to go thru this with. I've been posting on other June thread but thought a BYPASS thread would be great. And of course Veterans are WELCOME to pop in and share. Share your stories with me! Let's do this together!!

Hi everyone! My nickname is Gata. Im 62 years old and weigh 314 lbs. I’m scheduled for Dswitch on the 16th. All the information I’ve been reading from such sincere hearts is helping me tremendously. To hear some say they’re nervous and excited. Others saying that while waiting nervously they’ve gained weight helps me feel better. I can relate to so many of your comments. My Dr. snapped at me today for gaining 5 lbs (made me feel really bad). I’ve been waiting since January, but what little I lost , came back in no time from the nerves! Anyway, I’m still super excited, I started my liquids today (so far so good). I purchased a variety of fat free cream Soups which I added Protein Powder to. Also purchased jellos and nonfat yogurt and low fat cottage cheese. All recommended by my dietician. I feel a little lost, but I will continue reading. I wasn’t sure wether to let my family know, but your texts have helped me make up my mind not to. Thank you all again for sharing your experiences!

    Note to self:walk, walk, walk🙂

So glad to hear you are home and doing better.
I always get bad nausea from anesthesia. The worst in my life, though, was motion sickness on the ferry back to the mainland from Cozumel. The waves were so high and I was bent over the rail constantly. The thought went through my mind, "If I just jump, it will all be over."
Six months later, that ferry crashed in a similar storm and 100+ people were killed.

@MaybeMeow so sorry to hear about your difficulty with the nausea! Is this the first time you've been under general? Have you had problems with anesthesia before?
Anyway, get plenty of rest and THANK YOU for the update. Also for reminding me to go find my body pillow from when I was pregnant, so glad I kept that thing!

Hi Gang! Well, my surgery is at 1:45 tomorrow! (unless I get a call saying it's moved earlier). Today is bag packing day and setting things up for my friend to care for my kiddo while hubs and I are in the hospital. So relieved he can stay with me. Worried last night about a possible UTI. I get 2-3 a year. Took an at-home test this morning and it was negative thank goodness. But feeling the twinges. Wondering what happens if you get one right after catheter? Never had one and hear they can cause them. Particularly in those prone. Anyway, maybe just irritation from the 90 ozs of drinkable Protein I'm guzzling each day? Hoping nothing gets in the way of getting this DONE. Sending allllllll the good stuff out to you guys!!! And I'll take some in return. ONWARD!!!!

Today was a list making day. .. Things I need to accomplish to prep my family. I'm assuming I won't be helpful to them for about 2 weeks. Also a list of things for the hospital. One for Meds and comfort items for the first few weeks at home and finally a grocery list. I'll go shopping tomorrow for my 3 day liver diet (starting the 6th) and first week of "food".
    My list:
    Bone Broth (chicken and beef)
Several different kinds of Protein shakes
sugar free Jello (plan to mix in some Protein Powder and premake into 1 oz shots)
    Sugar free gatoraide
    Sugar free Popsicles.
    Unjury powders

I've also got plain fat free greek yogurt, P2 powder, eggs, and liquid stevia on the list to jumpstart week two.

I'm also planning some socially distant coffee dates in the next week with a few close friends who I'm not telling about my surgery but who might notice I'm off the radar for a while.
Would love to know what you guys are doing to prepare?

    ONWARD!
