MaybeMeow got a reaction from New&Improved in CAN'T STOP LOSING WEIGHT??
Again, this is a dream. I'm 32 days post op and stalled at a 17 pound weight loss. Been 200 pounds for 10 days. My surgeon did a "short bypass". Only 100 cm. Because I only had 65 pounds to lose and I didn't want to dump or malabsorb. I hope I will still lose the 65 pounds. I'd love to be saying what you two are in a year. Wishing you continued success!

I lost 16 lbs the first MONTH and had a stall during weeks 2 & 3. It broke during week 4 and I dropped like 6-8 lbs within a couple of days. You may be the same. As long as you're sticking to your program, you're good. We all lose at different rates due to a lot of factors - age, gender, genetics, activity level, metabolic rate, whether or not we lost weight prior to surgery. Most of these are out of your control. The one big thing you CAN control is how committed you are to your program. I was a slow loser but almost never "cheated" while I was in weight loss mode, and I ended up losing 100% of my excess weight. So don't despair. As long as your weight is gradually trending downward, you're good.

Doing really well with my Protein today, especially since it is my first day with full liquids. I am at 32g so far and plan to try to get a shake in tonight for dinner, which will take me up to 60-ish g. No problems with getting my Water. I am always thirsty and just keep sipping. I will probably be close to 80 oz water by the end of the day. I did go for a short 15 minute walk. I can assure I did not set any land speed records with my 23 minute mile pace. Lol. Looking forward to feeling better each day.

Meow, I am impressed with you eating chicken and the Soup sounds amazing. I can’t wait for purées, next week and then off to mushies. I want some baked tofu when I get to mushies at day 14.

@MaybeMeow, this weight stall WILL pass. You are doing the right stuff. Your body just needs to catch up. 😜

Yes, it is exciting and scary, but you will get through it and it is not bad on the other side. Give yourself a day or less, but do walk as soon as they let you up to walk. I walked, walked, and walked some more after they left me get out of bed. It made a huge difference in my recovery and now over 2 years out I strive to make 10,000 steps per day. Some days that doesn't happen but try.

Hi Gang! I'm Meow. I was scheduled for a 100cm Bypass on June 29th and they just moved me UP to June 9th! AHHHHHHH! I'm usually pretty grounded with life's hurdles but all the sudden my mind went blank and I thought "I'M NOT READY!" Any other May, June, July Bypassers want to join up and share and support? I'm not sure how to put my stats in my profile but I am 5' 5" female. Late 40s. 220# at the Doc yesterday. Goal weight is 150. Having BYPASS instead of Sleeve due to life-long reflux. Told I only need to do 3 days liquid liver shrink beforehand since my BMI is only 36. Feel both overloaded with info and under-prepared to say goodbye to the contrasting albatross/joy that is food in my life. Both glad and nervous about the timing as it feels like an easier time to stay away from friends and family who social-eat until I get a handle on my new digestive system. But also I'm pretty bored as my line of work is largely halted until the conditions are far safer. Likely won't have regular work until 2021. I'm ashamed to say the last 2 months have been more of a food funeral than I anticipated so I have a lot of mind-prep to do in the next 2 weeks. I am keeping this a private journey. Only my husband and best friend know. Even keeping my tween daughter in the dark at least for now. Would love some buddies who check in frequently to go thru this with. I've been posting on other June thread but thought a BYPASS thread would be great. And of course Veterans are WELCOME to pop in and share. Share your stories with me! Let's do this together!!

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. Secondly, congratulations on your weightloss! :) Bravo to you and I am so happy you are now able to concieve. Of course there are complications associated with pregnancy following weightloss surgery. And there are complications associated with obesity. They can be serious and your concerns for your child's nutrition is valid. However, with proper monitoring and a specialized nutritionist, there is NO reason you cannot have a happy, healthy pregnancy. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Be patient and listen to your doctors. Be upfront about your medical history and current diet. ASK QUESTIONS. Be an advocate for your pregnancy and your baby's health. Don't let anyone shame you for your wonderful news. Of course it's "ideal" to wait a year to get pregnant because your numbers stabilize and so does your health. But 4 months post-op is not the end of the world, even if people tell you it is. (Hugs) My dear friend fell pregnant with her first (at 35 years old!) Just 7 months following her surgery and has a healthy, beautiful baby girl now. I wish you the best of luck. Smile! You're having a baby!

Congrats on joining us on the other side! So SO sorry to hear about the nausea and dry-heaving. I remember it , and my extra night in the hospital for it, too well. Glad it subsided. Here's to a smooth recovery and that cough just being the intubation tube irritation. Make sure you're doing deep breathing exercises several times a day. Hoping the insulin adjustments are a good thing! And I know lots of people who don't poop til close to a week. You might start some colase. I find that to be the mildest "helper". Keep us updated and Happy Healing!

Hi Gang. Checking in on 3 weeks post op. 15 pounds down! I'll take it. Had a scare on Sunday with sudden stomach pain after trying 1.5 oz fish. It got so bad I dry heaved for nearly 2 hours. Almost went to the ER. Violent heaving and pain. I felt like my new separated stomach was trying to come up. Then it just stopped. Never threw much up besides a little Water. Slept the rest of the evening. Decided I'm going back to my previous food stage which is a handful of soft foods; eggs, cottage cheese, Beans, broth at least for a few more days. Felt mildly nauseous but nothing serious pain-wise or heaving. I am REALLY hoping it was a one-time thing and my body just wasn't ready for meat. My program does seem to move faster than others. Otherwise things are fine. I've increased my evening walk to 30 minutes. No more incision or stitch pain. Still going a little covid-crazy with no projects on the horizen. My whole day is spent (besides caring for kiddo) counting Protein and water. Still need to do my taxes! Ha! How's everyone else feeling? ONWARD!

Hi I was 5'5" and 209 just like you during my first pre-op visit. 35 BMI. 47 years old but post menopausal due to early meno. Self pay. Came in wanting sleeve but doc convinced me RNY was the way to go due to my long history of moderate GERD. Covid postponed my original surgery date and I ate like crazy during those 2.5 months. So I had surgery 20 days ago at weight 217. My goal is 154 which is considered the healthy weight for my height. I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 15 pounds In 3 weeks. Not gonna lie. It's been rough. Yesterday had an odd episode of vomiting/retching for 2 hours due to unexplained pain in my stomach after eating 1oz fish. Miserable. Almost ended up in the ER. Then it just passed. Today I'm focusing recovery (sore everywhere) and on pooping (constipated). I don't feel great. Not even good yet. But I'm following the program and forging ahead. I could always lose weight on diets. Lost 30 pounds on Weigh Watchers 3 different times. But I always gain it back. Plus a little more. 209 then 217 were my highest weights ever. Decided it was only going to get worse with my pre-mature menopause slowing my metabolism down. Was getting so I couldn't be active with my family. So I took the leap. Feel free to ask questions. Good luck with your decision!

Love this update! Thank you so much for a glimpse into the future. I really relate to the "Am I focusing on Protein or Water today?" thing. You put what I've been doing into words. And yes, that is a work in progress. Mind if I ask... what foods can you NOT tolerate so far? I'm almost 3 weeks post and on my first week of soft Proteins and the only thing that made me sick was avocado. It was not on my safe list. I'd just read someone else had it and it helped them poop so I wanted to try. Boy did it. Wishing you continued success! Those are great loss numbers! You're doing this!!

@Groovymommy @It's time. @Lily66 and All! How are you feeling today?
I'm doing well. Still pretty weak. Each morning now I have the squirts which is kind of a depleting way to start the day. Can't tell if it's the artificial sweetener or maybe the whey Protein doing it. So I'm cutting out the AS today and reducing the whey trying to make up for the grams of pro in plain fat free greek yogurt. Getting 48 fluids and 40 pro isn't easy. That's been my goal for weeks 2-4 and I'm not sure I've achieved both in the same day. My incisions are still hurting. Sometimes they ache horribly. Other times it's a dull muscle thing. But, drinking Water is easier each day. My Vitamins seem to be going down well (a real worry). The family left for a canoe trip and won't be back until late Sunday so all I'm responsible for is myself and the animals. Hoping to get my pro and liquids up and increase my energy. sleep is a stranger. I get about 2 sessions of 3 hours a night. But better than nothing. Each new food tastes like heaven. Sent my 88 year old dad (who lives 15 minutes away) a Father's Day box of overnighted Lobster rolls and Whoopie pies from Maine. All the fixings. He called and practically begged me to come share them with him. It was so hard to tell him no. I told him I was on a physician directed diet that was very strict. My father is old and set in his ways and does not admire heavy women. So of course he was very supportive of my new "diet". ((eye roll)) But it was hard to say no. I do love a fresh lobster roll. Check in when you have a moment! ONWARD!!

PS: I feel a little guilty speaking about food when I know some of you are struggling with fluids BUT I am also your future so I want to give you hope. Last night I ordered out for the first time since pre-op and I ordered a piece of plain mahi mahi with lemon. It was lousy. Dry and fishy tasting so after one bite I tossed it. Then I spied by daughter's scallops. She did not want to finih them. I took two and weighed them. 2 oz. I rinsed them off as they were coated in butter. Then I ate them tiny bite by tiny bite. THEY WERE SO DELICIOUS. And they went down like s DREAM! I felt the same as I did after having an egg the first time... but even BETTER. REAL food. I kept waiting for a price to pay. No price. So I saved the other two for lunch today. Put them in the toaster oven under broil for 3 minutes. JUST AS DELISH. And I can make scallops. So this feels GREAT!! Went down so easily much better than the ground chicken. So... GET YA SOME SCALLOPS when you're trying meat Proteins. The End.
