  1. AHHhhHhhHH! We'll be sending you ((GOOD VIBES)) tomorrow! Then you can join us on the next chapter! Walk, and sip and check in when you can!!!
  2. SO sorry about the vomiting. Does it bring you relief? I have to say I've wanted to vomit several times. But haven't. Wasn't sure whether that was a good or bad thing. On another thread on this subject several were saying it's much easier to throw up now than it was before surgery. Not as miserable. I've wondered if I should... um... try harder during those times when I've been nauseated. End the misery? I bet it's nice to be back to work. Helps distract from the eating and calculating?
  3. WOO HOoOOoOO! Inspiring. And HA! yes, I can. I forgot to look. ONWARD!
  4. @Groovymommy... What's your total loss? It's not bragging. It's inspiring!
  5. @Groovymommy Happy 1 month! Great to hear from you! Cheers to feeling unbelievably normal. And being able to poop. And having a "break thru" regarding the way you see food! You are killing it! @Repeatingthoughts How are YOU? I'm doing well. I've just started feeling "normal-ish" after some unexplained pain last week. My surgeon sent me in for an ultrasound to rule out gallstones. But by the time my appt rolled around the pain was nearly gone. Lasted about 4 days. So who knows. I went to an imaging center. Didn't get the results yet but don't expect any gallstones. I've lost 20 pounds as of today and today is the 6 week mark. I will say my daughter took a video of me dancing tonight and I watched it and was shocked at how heavy I am. I have avoided cameras and certainly videos for the last couple years since ballooning up in weight and I guess I was seeing myself as smaller in my head since losing the 20. It was a wake up call. To press ahead. Groovy I admit I haven't been taking my calciums. I decided to wait until my first bloodwork to see if I was calcium deficient. I've read it can increase your risk of kidney stones and I've had one and I don't want one again. I have several servings of dairy a day. So we'll see. I'll start them if I need to. My appt for blood work is at 7 weeks so a week from today. @613cnn I too have made a few discoveries I wish I hadn't. I've mentioned sugar in moderate amounts doesn't bother me at all. I was very happy about that at first. But now I'm seeing how that might, in the long run, be a bad thing. I did have a low blood sugar episode after walking in the park the other evening. Felt great when walking, then got home and realized I was low. I grabbed an oat and nut bar my husband had purchased at Whole Foods. It had chocolate chips in it but I picked them out, however it also had honey in it and as I was low I ate it. I had about a third of the bar before I realized it. Felt certain I was going to throw up for about 45 unhappy minutes. But I didn't., thank goodness (still wonder if I'm physically able). Anyway, the next morning I felt GREAT. It was interesting. That's about all I have to share. I'm getting 60 pro a day. Still working on 64 water. Eating about 600-700 cals a day and keeping carbs around 30. I'll update when I get the ultrasound results back and have my bloodwork done next week. Would love to hear from everyone. ONWARD BYPASSERS!! Thanks for checking in, Repeating!
  6. You're going to have GREAT results!!

Before & After - 100 Lb. Weight Loss Transformation

Your skin tone is AMAZING. Clearly hard work AND genetics at play here and the results are fantastic. Thanks for being an inspiration!
  8. I had arm lipo about 15 years ago and it was a breeze. I know the brac is very different but it sounds like you are really PREPARED. Congrats! Hope it's a breeze and you recover quickly. Love to see pics. Be sure to take "befores"

    STOP MAKING EXCUSES

Are you Superman?? Your posts are starting to sound familiar. They were always a little... agitating. I feel like you contribute so much to the conversation, Mikey. But you need to remember that you are not here to supervise or judge others. And your journey is nothing like anyone else's. Try being supportive only and ignore those who irritate you. It's good practice for real life.

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

Complain away. Those complaints are legitimate! You should have fast attentive service and a spirometer! I hope that was just a busy hour and you are being well cared for now.
  11. This does make me feel better. Thank you. I was pretty nauseous after my bypass and remained in the hospital for 2 days due to it. Even got a little delirious after so many hours riddled with nausea. Really hoping not to relive that.
  12. I've had unexplained pain for over 48 hours. I am 5 weeks post Bypass. I am not constipated. I have had a bowel movement every day for the last 5 days (rocks, but I go). I can eat very small amounts of solid food (like 1 oz moist chicken or ground beef) and while it does usually feel stuck up high and makes me uncomfortable for an hour or so, my body processes it. I can also drink water and protein drinks. I do not have a fever. BUT the pain is center upper stomach. It's always there and it ranges from moderate to extreme. It almost feels like a mix of gas and a sore burning muscle. It's constant but hurts more when I move. In a car the bumps in the road increase it. It hurts in my upper stomach when I take a deep breath. Like my diaphram is hitting whatever is causing the pain. And oddly... I feel air movement. Like maybe a bubble is popping and I would expect to pass gas but it doesn't happen. And that happens a lot. Like an air leak. WHAT IS GOING ON? To go to my surgeon's office and ask for tests seems overkill since I'm not throwing up, no fever and I'm able to take nourishment. But I've been slightly slumped over walking holding my upper stomach for two days and my husband (a physician) thinks I need to go in and be checked out. He asked out the blue "can your detached stomach fill with gas?? I didn't know the answer. Why not? And if it can does the Gas X get there? Any thoughts?
  13. Thank you for that boost, Cat. I've been keeping pretty positive about it. Tho'... one of the ways I was staying positive about being a bit "slower" than most was that it would be easier on my hair and gallbladder. So why is my gallbladder failing?? I think I had a premonition this would happen. It's why I was so hung up on reading the stats of this phenomena after WLS. I'll know more after the ultrasound. Thanks again, everyone! I feel better having the order in my hand.
  14. Thank you for the responses. It was the nudge I needed to call the office. Surgeon's assistant called me back and @Prestonandme he also believes it sounds like potential gall stones. Makes me want to cry. I do NOT want another surgery and I don't want to lose my gall bladder. I've only lost 18 pounds so I wouldn't call it a fast weight loss. I've never had a gallbladder issue. It's upsetting. But better to know. I'm being sent an order for an ultrasound I can schedule with a provider that my insurance covers. Maybe it's something that can be solved with a med instead. Thanks again, friends.
  15. @WishMeSmaller How are you feeling today? Wondering if that hernia repair is still keeping you from making strides. Happened to read a few posts today from another who seems to be struggling with the repair part of their Bypass just like you are. They had to go in for fluids and then were told to go back to their 1st stage of just fluids and protein powder for a week to give their body longer to heal. Made me think of you. Are you able to keep your fluids down yet? Have you spoken with your surgeon or nurse prac? I'm hoping it's a better day for you.
  16. Fellow Pre-mature menopauser here. Last period was age 42. I'm 47 now. I was not obese at age 42. Those who did not suffer the consequences of losing those particular hormones early don't really understand how it contributes to the gain. I am 5' 5" and was 217 on my surgery day. I opted for Bypass largely because of the way early menopause changed my body and my inability to lose even when following healthy diets like Weight Watchers. It's been slow. I'm post op day 35 and have lost 18 pounds. But I'm trucking right along and happy with my surgery choice. I believe my surgeon would say if you don't have GERD the choice is not significant. I was concerned about dumping and malabsorption. So my doc did a short bypass, 100 cm instead of the usual 150-200cm. Could also be why the loss is slower. But I fully believe my body does not want to feast on the fat that early menopause grew. Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" and I get it. And while either surgery is a fine choice I chose Bypass to combat the early meno. Best of luck! Keep us updated!
  17. Just popping in as the original poster of this thread to say... be patient! My surgery was postponed in early April but rescheduled to June 9th and it gave me time to really prepare emotionally. Now I'm 35 days post op and it sounds like things are being post poned again. If you are one of the unlucky ones... keep heart. It will happen. Use the extra time to get a jump start on the weight loss. I'm not sure it's that much easier after the surgery. Read up on this site. And spend time visualizing the whole post op process which is a little more than crazy. Best of luck to all!!

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

Most people have zero complications. And those that do are minor. I'd say do the hotel if it's close and they will have someone come check on you. Particularly if you have a partner who is on the ball.
  19. This is nice to read. I am on post op day 35 and I have had a handful of chocolate covered almonds every evening since week 3. Knowing I can have it at the end of the day if I've reached my 60 protein helps me. And I love them. But I feel guilty. My weight loss is slower than most (18 pounds in those 35 days) and I of course attribute it to the chocolate. Sometimes I feel like it's reasonable and other times I wonder why I can't just not have it. Just stop eating sweets. Am I hopeless? Reading your post reminds me this is a process. I can get to the place where I don't need the evening treat. I'm just... not there yet I guess. Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure I've heard anyone say, "Not so great in the beginning but doing great now." It's always seemed like people are rock solid in the beginning and falter later. So thanks again.
  20. Well... I went from 200 for 10 days to 199 this morning. ((sigh)) I'll take it! ONWARD BYPASSERS!
  21. Welcome! So sorry to hear about the water struggle. It does get easier! You've had some GREAT losses!!

    CAN'T STOP LOSING WEIGHT??

Again, this is a dream. I'm 32 days post op and stalled at a 17 pound weight loss. Been 200 pounds for 10 days. My surgeon did a "short bypass". Only 100 cm. Because I only had 65 pounds to lose and I didn't want to dump or malabsorb. I hope I will still lose the 65 pounds. I'd love to be saying what you two are in a year. Wishing you continued success!
  23. Only my husband and best friend (who cared for my kiddo when I was in the hospital know. My dad and sister think I'm doing a "physician directed diet." (not untrue)

    CAN'T STOP LOSING WEIGHT??

That's great. To be able to eat regularly and even have a treat now and then and continue to maintain and even lose... that is everyone's goal. Congrats!
  25. Oh no! It sounds like our little group is hitting a rough spot all around. I’m crossing my fingers you’re thru the worst of it. Too bad you couldn’t plot that patch right back on. But maybe it’s best to know what’s going on exactly and manage it actively with orals. Do you think the pain was causing the nausea? Do be sure to sip sip sip. I know all too well how the dehydration can make everything much worse. Maybe even try some real Gatorade. That has helped my nausea a great deal. Here’s to a better day tomorrow and the next for ALL of us!
