    Pre op tests

My gastric bypass is 3/11/20. Testing began last October: EKG, Cardiac Stress Test (I’m over 60), Echocardiogram, Gall Bladder Ultrasound, Upper GI, Psych Eval, Bloodwork, 3 Months of Dr. Supervised Diet. Granted, it was a LOT, and sometimes time consuming, but SO reassured to know my surgeon is thorough, and I’m going into this with a clean bill of health. I, too, wondered (feared) I may not pass one of these tests and be rejected, but quickly decided Hey Wait! What a blessing and RARE opportunity to get all of this baseline testing BEFORE a problem became evident! In our medical system, tests are only approved once a problem has manifested itself which can sometimes be too late!😪 Thus, I decided no matter the outcome, I WON either way! I walked forward in Gratitude of all that was being done on my behalf, willing to accept whatever outcome presented and make the BEST decision at each juncture. It all went fine and it also made the past 6 months FLY BY because I was joyfully knocking out one test at a time!😀 Stay positive! Live in Gratitude every day and WATCH the Blessings unfold!

  6. Proud of your courage, determination and tenacity biginjapan! Well stated post and ohhhh so true. You deserve all the success in the world with this and I send all Best Wishes with Estonia! Shame Shame on the Mexico Dr.’s who did not serve you well! You’ve got this now! May success be even sweeter because of your journey!🏆
  7. Tamarita, you (we!) are SO not alone in this! Just look at the obesity statistics in our nation. We’re gathered here on this board because we’re the ones who are deciding to deal with it.🏆😃👏💪🙏 We have SO many food options that weren’t there years ago, and supersized everything to boot. We’re eating because we’re happy, sad, bored, depressed, sleep and energy deprived, and boy does some of it taste good. For some of us, food is a drug that, for me anyway, I will own it that food is one day at a time. Be VERY PROUD of YOUR STRENGTH to BE HERE, brave and determined to conquer this beast before it conquers us as it is doing to so many very good people who sadly, see no way out.😞Today I am implementing tips above from Darktowerdream, smaller plate/utensils and also from Catwoman7, keeping track of what we’re eating and STOP there. WE CAN DO THIS!!✨🌟✨

    I must announce....

YOU GOOOO RUSST!!🏆👌....Such an Inspiration to us! Thanks for sharing what once seemed impossible to now being REALITY!✨🌟✨ ”The Only Place Where Success Comes Before Work Is In The Dictionary.”

  10. Mello1....Forgive me for not figuring out how to see previous threads! Ugh..so much to learn😟.
  11. I take Duloxetine 30mg capsule for nerve pain following a back surgery. Will ask Dr about it at my 3/2 pre-op appt., but wondering if anyone here has had experience with it? And if able to take it post-op, any issues with dosage after Gastric Bypass? Thanks!

    Preventing Pouch Stretching

I thought he was hysterical!😂 Spot on in his grasp of things, too. I will continue seeking him out—-just not a candidate for MLM. Lol
  13. Wonderful, Shelly! Thanks so much and Congrats on your great results! 32lbs in less than 2 months! Wooo-Hoo!! Continued best wishes!
  14. Ohhh, IamBinkyBink Sooo True!! I’ve been practicing pre-op diet past few days, tho my real pre-op start date is 2/26. I must really be carb addicted b/c I am so sluggish, dragging and blah since I started. And yes, if not for cooking for hubby and not being in a stressed low mood, it might be easier.😪. Please forgive my wha wha wha, that’s not who I am nor want to be! I need to back up and realize how hard I’ve worked to get to this point, how thrilled I was getting approval, then the surgery date, and not sabotage myself after all of that! This board and knowing others have walked this walk and felt much the same yet came out victorious and thrilled by triumphing over food for good health, enjoying clothes again, not having to ignore the mirror, is a Huge Blessing! Hugs and Thanks to Everyone! WE KNOW IT IS WORTH IT, WE ARE WORTH IT!
  15. Briswife15...With your G bypass, were you 2 nights in hospital or 1? Not sure what’s average... Thanks!
  16. Congrats, Kingteresa2006! So Exciting and yes! I have nerves as well. Doing my best to ditch sugar, white flour, rice, etc. now, still 5 weeks out from surgery. Not sure if smart to go through those withdrawals sooner rather than later? It does seem to slow time down😞being hangry in the wait for surgery. I can see pro’s/con’s both ways. Anyone’s experience woyld be helpful AND appreciated!
  17. MsMocie...I looked up difference between mini & standard, no need to explain! Sounds very interesting and I wish my surgeon would have mentioned it. Thanks again and continued good health!
  18. MsMocie, may I ask what the difference is between Mini Gastric Bypass and regular Gastric Bypass? Thanks!

    Preventing Pouch Stretching

    GREAT videos ladies, Thanks!!👌😃
  20. VRox33, Hello, and I’m a newbie as well😅. When I saw surgeon last Oct. my mindset was same as yours—set on sleeve, and only sleeve. He asked re: acid reflux and yes, I do have it at times. His explanation and picture drawing of what happens to GERD/reflux after sleeve was a major let down, but I (secretly) still held hope for sleeve. As I researched more, and especially the very real experiences on these support boards, I realized he’s SO on target. The risks/dangers/incidents of increased reflux after sleeve seem far riskier to my situation than RYN. Yes, we’ll perhaps have a few more challenges with absorption and medication adjustment, but hopefully, ideally, our surgery will not only be a “one and done” requiring no revisions, but our acid reflux will be greatly alleviated, as well. I also feel great trust and confidence that RYN has been around the longest, and still considered the gold standard by many people. Just my experience...Best Wishes in your decision!

    Safe meds for arthritis?

Briswife, You Go Girl!!! Sooo proud of you with our “relatively diminutive height”😉 and knee pain challenges for you to have lost 102 lbs in less than 12 months is Amazing to me!! Fantastic that your knee pain is 90% better-gives me Hope! I pray you can get relief for your neck..hopefully someone here will have answers. I’m also currently taking Cymbalta (duloxetine) for nerve pain and I fear at pre-op he’ll tell me no more of that, either. Along with diclofenac substitution, does anyone here have experience with Duloxetine/Cymbalta after Gastric Bypass? Thanks and keep up the Great Work, Briswife!

    Safe meds for arthritis?

Briswife, Thanks for asking this question as I am right there with you, and hope someone has answers for us! My gastric bypass is scheduled for March 11th. I, too, am 5’4” and depend on diclofenac 75mg daily for knee pain arthritis. I know I have to give it up—but nothing, and I do mean nothing comes close to helping like it does. Congrats on your near 70 lb weight loss! Have you noticed reduced knee pain since the weight loss? I’m hoping for that, too. Continued good health to you!
