  1. Congrats!

I have three children from a previous marriage 😂 A little late for that.
Yes there have been major issues caused by my husbands actions, but it is something we have both chosen to work through. I love this man dearly and while his actions were hurtful, I couldnt NOT (ugh double negative) fight for our marriage because it is truly what I want. Obviously this thread only shows a negative aspect of our relationship, but there is a lot of good in our relationship as well. Otherwise, I wouldnt fight so hard for it.
As for an update, I did bring up the comment in counseling. As well as addressed me being able to come to him with any feelings I might have without him getting defensive.
He listened and apologized profusely for the comment. When he heard it from my POV, he totally got how that would hurt me.
As for those telling me to stop being so sensitive and just get over it, I am happy that you might be able to do that. However, I am allowed to feel however I feel (whether you think that is right, wrong or indifferent) and you dont know the background I come from...just as I dont know your background. Something that hurts you might not hurt me, and vice versa. Thankfully we all have our place in this world. I'm ok with being sensitive at times. Its not always a bad thing

So my marriage is a lot shorter than some here (15 years) but in my experience trying to avoid an argument only works when the thing you are ignoring is kinda petty and you’re overreacting. Like, it vaguely pisses me off that my husband keeps moving the damn bath mat, and that he wears his dirty work shoes on the carpet. But I let it go because at the end of the day, it’s not that big of a deal. If he said something about me in front of someone else that I felt was inappropriate? Oh, he’d be hearing it. But I tend to be a pretty assertive person in general, both before and after weight loss.

OP, I applaud you for fighting for your marriage. I recommend however that you fight for a marriage that will make you happy and will work long term. You can’t fight for a marriage that involves you hiding all your feelings and feeling uncomfortable with the person you are sharing your life with.

My husband has definitely called me on some shit I’ve said over the years. Did I always agree that he should feel the way he did? No, but it’s not about me agreeing with his feelings, it’s me acknowledging that he does feel that way and me deciding to not do that again because I love him and I don’t want to make him unhappy.

Ostflicka reacted to Jnfinney in What is your why?
My why is pretty complex. I’ve been overweight since I was about 9. At 11 years old I was diagnosed with hashimotos disease and hypothyroidism. I was bullied physically, verbally, and emotionally for years in school due to my weight. As I entered my 20s my cholesterol and blood pressure were creeping up to borderline needing medication. I suffer from horrible depression and anxiety and my poor self image doesn’t help with that at all. Last summer, I reached my highest weight ever of 235 despite regular exercise and attempts to eat healthier. I have just had it with my weight and decided I needed surgical intervention.

Ostflicka reacted to GFitz in What is your why?
When I turned 45 this year I realized that my weight was limiting my ability to do the things I want to do. Life is short and I want to live my life to the fullest. Aside from being overweight I am healthy, but I know if I stay as overweight as I am, that won't be the case for very long.

In the beginning it was weird - like it was just mind thinking I'm hungry. Now if I feel hungry I drink some more Water to see if it's that. I more feel like I try to prefuel myself if I'm going hiking - I try to eat the Protein Bar or drink a Protein Shake about 20ish minutes before I start. I have found for me if I am hiking over an hour or 2 by that second hour if I haven't eaten I feel weak. So I don't really get hungry while hiking but I get weak.
I've started to feel hungry now a days but again I always make sure I check in with myself to make sure I'm truly hungry or if I just think I am. Head games -
I think 🤔 my hunger is not as bad at all like before either. I use to be ravenous- HANGRY.

Ostflicka got a reaction from Tim C in What are some Sleeve friendly foods/meals(Regular Diet) at chain restaurants and FF Restaurant?s
I share meals with my husband, maybe she'll share with you. Take a Protein Bar with you and sit with her. I understand eating out is the most social thing we do. But try not to eat FF, if you want fillers find Protein Bars you like and have one. Drinkable Protein Shakes, add a piece of cheese if it feels it's not enough. My husband always laughs because I always have "pocket cheese" 1 ounce tillamok cheddar squares with me everywhere (just in case i happen to get hungry) Or 1 mozzarella string cheese.
Everyone just wants you to be successful- I have had Taco Bell - 1 taco bell supreme taco without shell and they put it in a bowl for me. I've tried to have 2 but never can finish it. I've had cheeseburger without bun from McDonald's as well. I ordered from kids menu from Red Robin had grilled chicken fingers (which was just cut up grilled chicken breast) Other than that I don't eat fast food. Out on the road there are so many Protein shakes which will give you 30 grams of protein that are so much better as a lunch option. But if you don't think it will work for you, then it won't.
Lasting life changes. I'm still only a year into this and I drink either protein Water or protein collagen water every day as a meal. On my yearly check up which was 2 weeks ago surgeon was impressed with my blood work all levels great.

I don't know if it happened or not, I didn't weigh myself for the first 3 weeks after I left the hospital - you need to be focusing on Protein, Vitamins, fluids - Water.
I know I know you want to have lost weight - seems like you should have, but yes pumped full of fluids and you don't need to feel bloated to be retaining lots of water. Also, I'm pretty sure no bowel movements yet either?
As other people have said it and I know easier said then done, get away from the scale.
Also I suggest picking a day to weigh - for me I weigh every Tuesday because that was my surgery date. If I happen to step on a scale any other day then that day, I don't freak out if I am up or Celebrate if I am down, those weights don't count.
Also if you've looked at other posts on the forums, after about week 6-8 a stall that happens for most people. Or sometimes it's only .2 losses for a moment and that freaks people out too.

Ostflicka reacted to Orig Ironman in Surgery a week out and having second thoughts.
I am 42 M and had similar thoughts. I put off even considering surgery for 3 years. I tried a bunch of dieting and exercise medications testosterone etc. I was pretty healthy at 29. I did sprint triathlons t try to stay in shape but couldn't really lose the weight. Then at 40 I had high blood pressure, borderline cholesterol issues, sleep apnea, tendonitis in my ankles, which got worse with more weight, knee problems. I was not going to become diabetic like my parents etc. I am only 5 weeks past surgery but I'm down 55lbs from my heaviest weight and down 23 from my surgery weight. I feel great. I'm down 2 pant sizes, my blood pressure is so good I don't need the meds anymore, my tendinitis is way better. My wife and I are happier if you know what I mean. Yes I miss eating big portions of food and I miss some foods that I won't be eating for quite a while, but everything I have gained in the last two months is way more valuable to my quality of life than the bites I am not taking.
I can speak to long term effects but the short term now is well worth it. Maintaing the diet is some work but it is a relief that I don't have to worry whether or not I'm going to see results this week. There are challenges to navigate but the benefits to your lifestyle are so much better. Plus we are saving a decent amount of money on groceries and there is always leftovers for lunch.

Its been over a year since I bought a bra (eff you Covid)....I just took my measurements and according to those, I should be wearing a 30C. At my biggest, I was a 38DDD.
Collectively we all could have pooled our lost boob fat and opened up a soap store.

don't miss mine at all (well, once I had plastic surgery to lift 'em up, that is - they look way smaller than before! (from before everything - before they deflated due to weight loss, from before I had WLS, and from before I became morbidly obese!)

Ostflicka reacted to David_L in How much weight did you lose the first 90 days ?
I lost 20 in my 2 week pre-op liquid. Had surgery on December 3rd and I'm down an additional 74 as of today. Personally, I think i'm losing too much too fast but the surgeon doesn't seem to be too concerned.

Hello everyone. Im in the process of getting approved for gastric sleeve. On 02/16/2021 I complete my nutrition class. I was told I was only required to complete 1 class. So once I complete the class I will be done with everything for pre approval. However, I heard I will have to do a supervised diet. So when does this start and can i get an early start on it? I have Cigna so how long do they require you to do the supervised diet? I heard it can be anywhere from 3 months to a year.

Ostflicka reacted to alissajs in Gastric Sleevr Vs. Bypass
Well I never had GERD, and really thats the primary reason for a revision. I may develop it later on, but only 30% of sleevers have this issue. My sleeve was done right, so it definitely isnt an inferior surgery.

Actually, the weight loss between GB and GS is very very similar at 5 years post op. Because it is so similar and the rate of complications with a sleeve is lower than with a bypass, this is why my doc recommended it.

Weight regain is not a side effect of the surgery (either one...regains happen with bypass just as often), but rather choices made by the patient. I am still losing. I'm confident in myself and my choices. I will check back in July 😊

I never had much of sweet tooth before the surgery, but the last month or two I will eat cookies/crackers as before bed snack. I am still under 1100-1200 calories/day with the Snacks but I need it to stop, I do not want any new bad habits. I will try pushing my last meal of the day by an hour to 7PM to stop the cravings in these cold winter nights.

I have been more hungry lately particularly in the afternoon.
I've gained about three pounds this month but according to my Renpho scales, it's 2.8 pounds of lean body mass. My dietician also said my muscle mass was increasing. I am spending about eight hours a week lifting weights. I also walk about 5 miles a day. I'm not too upset. My body fat is about 17.5 %.

(Wo)man vs. Ginormous Salad: An Update 😂
Am on day 2 now of working on that huge salad I fixed yesterday afternoon.
Mr. saw my leftovers in the fridge after dinner tonight and asked why I was saving “crumbs”. Well, because I was full, duh. Lol
Dawned on me that my eating habits have sooooo changed. Pre-op, i was of the mind that I had to clean my plate, and if there was just a little bit of food left, i should just finish it to get it over with. Not anymore.
Here’s a pic of the “crumbs” I’m saving for tomorrow because I didn’t need (nor want) another bite:

AHH!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Anyways, their guac is one of my favorite items. It's seriously addicting and you don't even taste the yogurt in it, and I hate yogurt.
