  1. I am hopeful my state (Washington) doesn’t stop elective surgeries, ours was the first to have COVID in the country. My surgery is next week on July 7. Already been waiting more than 6 months and 1 week into my pre op diet. Just holding on for 1 week 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    July 2020 Surgery anyone?

I am super excited! My surgery was moved up to July 7. I was originally scheduled for the 15th. I am super happy. And I want to wish you all a safe journey. Incoming prayers for all ❤️🙏🏼❤️
  3. Wow! That is an amazing transformation! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
  4. Welcome Mil, while I am waiting for my surgery I can’t give you much advice yet. I can tell you that you came to the right place. This forum is a wealth of information! People are so kind. I am so happy you are taking this journey too.
  5. @Keatsy I was approved yesterday, still waiting to get the call from the Drs. Office to schedule the surgery and the 2 week pre-op appointment. I would imagine the surgeon or the nurse case manager would give that information to you? I will also meet again with the nutritionist I am sure she will be the guidance for calories, and liquid, soft foods, etc... As far as the exercise you will be given guidance on that too. If not please take a list of questions to ease your mind. I do that all the time. 😂 I hope to find out soon. I will most certainly take the first available appointment 😁 Good luck with your surgery!

Optum/UHC Choice Plus BRS Nurse ?

@NurseJaci13 That is crazy, only $15,000 lifetime max. 😳 I totally understand the self insured policies being different, so crazy. I feel bad that the companies buy these really awful insurance policies for their employees. My husband has a really bad policy as well. I am disabled so I have a Medicare advantage policy. This particular insurance is pro bariatric surgery for health reasons. 🙏🏼

Optum/UHC Choice Plus BRS Nurse ?

A similar thing happened to me at the start of my journey in January 2020. The nurse case manager told me at the consultation that my insurance required 4 months of a medically supervised nutrition program. I had already called my insurance and that was not a requirement. So once done with my Consult I called the insurance again and was told there were no nutritionist requirements other than what the bariatric program requires. I spoke with the nurse case manager and she said that I had to complete the 4 month requirement. I called the insurance again and was assured that my insurance did not require nutritionist visits. I decided to keep this information to myself and not continue to call the nurse. It is odd to be told two different requirements but I would tend to lean to the insurance on this occasion. I did speak with my insurance again yesterday as I still am waiting for my surgery and was confirmed what was told to me the first 3 times. I understand your confusion because I too feel it.

    Needing a pep talk!

I really feel for you and understand what you are going through. I have had my surgery pushed back along with my last requirement. The delay is so frustrating because it is out of our hands and if it would have happened just a little while later I would be already done. But as it stands I am still waiting. I am watching lots of people in my surgery group get dates and now the doctor is booking into July! At this rate I won’t be ready until winter 🙁
  10. That is a lot on your plate. You sound like an amazingly strong person with a great support team. Just know there will be a lot of be sending prayers and love ❤️.

    Dry/Scaly Skin?

I was wondering if it could be due to the decrease in consuming fats? Seems logical...🤔

    Struggling with preop diet

I love all of these ideas. These are very helpful. My favorite thing right now is chai with vanilla premier protein as creamer. It is delicious. If it is night time try the decaf chai.

    Pre op Appointment

So the last couple weeks have been crazy.... i had my consult appointment which was about 2 hours and it went quite well with only one hiccup. There was some discrepancy between what the insurance told the surgery center and what I was told by the insurance. I called the insurance 4 different times and got one person twice and I was assured the information I was given was correct. So here goes, the insurance told the doctors office that I needed 4 months of nutrition appointment and follow ups. The insurance told me only one month. So, my nurse who is the bariatric “Navigator” said after my second appointment which is on March 11, with the nutritionist she will submit the Pre-Authorization form the insurance sent me and if they sign off on it we are good to go. I had a cardiologist appointment last week also and was scheduled for a echo stress test which I had yesterday and passed easily. 😃👍🏼. Saw the Cardiologist right after and he gave me the green light for surgery. I have my Psychology appointment at 1:30 today. I will report back in when I have more information. Nina
  15. I go for my first appointment today in about 2 hours, a consult. And I believe the RNY is the surgery would be the best fit for me after all of my research. This site has been a wealth of information! Looking forward to my journey and following along with others who are taking theirs.

    Pre op Appointment

I will check back in Tuesday night or Wednesday. Good luck to you. I am really looking forward the surgery. Not having talked with the surgeon yet, I am thinking I will probably go with the bypass since I have had GERD issues. Logical choice it would seem.

    Pre op Appointment

I am having my first appointment on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. From the paperwork they sent me to fill out and bring to the appointment, it looks like it should take 2-3 hours. After reading the Pre-Auth form my insurance requires, it looks like it might be a fairly uneventful approval process. My BMI is over 40. I am happy I found this forum and especially this thread, since some people have similar stories. Nice to meet you all, Nina
