  2. I dumped a couple weeks post RNY revision with a protein shake. I’ve also dumped on eggs. I don’t have any experience with bananas because I developed an allergy a few years ago but I do miss them.

The only option: Revision sleeve to bypass!

They usually have hernia patients on the same phases of diets as WLS patients to let the hernia site repair. Besides, mashed potatoes and gravy are one of the best thanksgiving sides anyway!

    Food Before and After Photos

Had to add the fork to know which was the after picture. 😂 Also, I did eat a piece of pork before taking this picture.

I don't know what to do first!

First thing I’d suggest- BREATHE! You can do this. Just make sure you have everything you need for your pre-op diet and don’t overly stress yourself. The rest will work itself out.
  6. Right now I’m eating 600-800 calories a day most days. Varying the calories seems to help move things along for me when I get “stuck” with a stall. Breakfast is usually coffee with protein shake as creamer most days. Usually paired with cottage cheese and diced veggies (kimchi for probiotics and tomatoes usually, sometimes bell peppers). Sometimes I’ll have protein oatmeal or pack of instant grits with turkey sausage in it. Lunch is usually soup with unflavored protein powder mixed in and a wasa cracker, lunch meat a cheese stick and veggies, or leftovers from the night before. Dinner is usually either shrimp or a plant based burger with veggies. Once a week or so I might make a pizza out of extreme wellness tortilla or have a curry or something. Snacks are usually seaweed snacks, pretzels, or yogurt or a 90 calorie protein bar. Sometimes I’ll have apple slices with peanut butter or maybe animal crackers or almonds.
  7. After I had my sleeve I had a stall that lasted almost 6 weeks. It was frustrating. I readjusted my diet (wasn’t eating enough) and made sure I was getting enough sleep. The weight eventually started coming off again. Just try and be patient. I know it’s hard. Maybe talk to your nutritionist and see if you’re getting enough protein and calories for your post-op stage.

    Food Before and After Photos

Turkey, fat free shredded cheddar, and spinach pocket. With 2 bell pepper rings and 2 pickle slices and mustard. I’ll post the full nutrition info. This was the first after picture. And then the second after. Ive officially relinquished the leftovers to a couple kids who happily ate them.

    Beyond scared and nervous

You’ve worked so hard to get to this moment right now. You can do this and it will be okay! That said, everyone has different pain tolerances and your doctor is there to help you so doing be afraid to ask for something if you need it.

    Protein drinks vs. protein snacks

Most protein bars and shakes I’ve seen are fortified with things like calcium, potassium, magnesium and even vitamin A. On the other hand, most protein snacks I’ve seen, aren’t. I think that might be where the difference lies and why they aren’t on the approved pre-op diet lists.

    Period starting around surgery day

Totally get it. I switched to tampons same day after surgery but I did miss my cup (wasn’t going to have my mom bring it to me so tampons it was). Talk with your surgeon and see if a menstrual cup is okay with them for surgery day.

    Period starting around surgery day

My surgeon wouldn’t preform surgery if I was on hormonal birth control because it can increase the risk of clots. That being said, I started my period on VSG to RNY revision surgery day. They gave me hospital mesh underwear and a pad. Mine are super heavy if I’m not on birth control and causes menstrual related anemia so I did end up getting iron through IV while in the hospital but any pain was covered by the pain medication I received.

    Yogurt...

Sometimes I’ll mix in- peanut butter powder vanilla protein powder matcha powder frozen fruit Fiber one cereal couple tbsp granola sunflower seeds a pinch of monkfruit sweetener It really all depends on how I’m feeling that day.
  14. Oh wow. I didn’t even realize that some were limiting what you could sell. That’s crazy!
  15. I was just thinking about this today. I still have loads of 3/4X clothes and am now wearing a L/XL. Even my wrap skirts are too big and they were one of my favorite buys ever. 😭 But on the plus side, if I sell all my bigger clothes I can buy cute new ones! 🤩

1 week post surgery and I haven’t lost any weight?

Surgery day I was 212. I left the hospital weighing 234 which was 4 days later. At my week post op I still weighed 215. Fluids and swelling will do that. It happens. I know it’s hard but try and stay off the scale for the first month or so.

Now I need to buy some gelatin or sugar free jello.

It’s a small plastic container that divides them into sections. This is what it looks like without the top wrapper.

    Food Before and After Photos

Well, this is definitely and afterthought picture. But this was dinner with a sugar free jello. I think my stomach didn’t like me trying to make oat bran everything bagels earlier. 😬

    Dry, brittle hair

You might need a different shampoo and conditioner. Maybe call the stylist that suggested your current products and explain what’s going on. They might have a new recommendation for you.

At my house it’s always soup season. 🥣

    Dry Heaves

Have you seen a gastroenterologist? I know bypass messes with the way our internal plumbing works so maybe talk to them. They might suggest a daily stool softener so you aren’t constipated. Constipation can also be a cause of loose stools and vomiting- think overly constipated and impactions can come with seepage. (I was chronically constipated as a kid).

3 weeks post op sleeve gastrectomy

It may seem judgmental but we don’t want you repeating some of our mistakes. I can answer this from both a VSG and an RNY standpoint. High sugar so soon out from surgery is a BAD idea. For example, a couple weeks ago I was 2 months post RNY revision (for GERD) and had 4 bites of a chocolate frosted donut for my daughter’s birthday. To say I felt like I was dying is an understatement. If you don’t want to be spewing from both ends while it feels like you’re running a marathon, I would suggest a different choice. However, if you are craving chocolate I’d suggest sugar free chocolate pudding made with skim milk and extra unflavored protein powder. It’s better for you than an actual piece of sugar filled chocolate and you may find you don’t enjoy the taste of chocolate anymore anyway.

3 weeks post op sleeve gastrectomy

Maybe you should look at why you want to fuel your body with empty calories. Chocolate will offer you nothing but disappointment and an insulin response. It offers little to no value in protein or fiber. There are so many better options than the fat and sugar bomb that chocolate provides. However, it seems you’ve already made up your mind. Just remember that while one piece of chocolate didn’t lead you to being 3 weeks post-op from WLS, it did contribute to it. Now is your chance to build a better relationship with food and really question why you are craving something and look for alternatives to turning to food for comfort and a serotonin boost that is short lived.

    Food

I think that would be a question for your nutritionist. That being said, I eat turkey bacon on occasion but turkey sausage still has a lot of fat in it. I don’t eat hot dogs so I have no advice on that at all.
