    Eight weeks post op
Very thankful to have the physical stamina and healthier lifestyle now in place to face these unprecedented times. It almost seems trite to talk about myself or my plastics in this current climate our nation now faces. I am beginning to experiment with foundations weaning away from the compression garments. Purchasing fitted clothing has become a rewarding and most satisfying experience after plastics. My favorite aspect is the new 28" waistline that works perfectly with an array of new belts. I have lost a total of eight pounds since January 21 surgery date - five were Excess skin removal. Now on lock down and home bound mode - I have the time to explore new recipes and cook books. The chia pudding recipes are especially delicious and highly nutritious, as well as permissible comfort food. Also, have been enjoying PBS Masterpiece Theatre - Vienna Blood. An excellent mystery production and worthy diversion.

    Statistics
Cost: $16,000 for BREAST LIFT AND FLEUR DE LIS STYLED Tummy Tuck (saved up and self paid)
Date: January 21, 2020 surgery date
Surgeon: Dr. Dana Goldberg, Jupiter, Florida
Three days before surgery Hibiclens antispetic showers and application of Mupirocin ointment. I ate my regular routine and variety of high quality salads, fresh fruits, nuts, veggies, baked seeded crackers (Firehook brand) with cheese nibbles along with hot tea/1% milk + 80 -100 oz. Water per day.
    Day One
Surgery 9:00am - 3:30pm yesterday. Was administered Experal, Valium (if needed) and Enoxaparin. Recovery time until 6:00 pm. Hubby takes me home and I'm in bed by 8:00 pm until 5:00am to empty pressurize drains (3) + urinate. Off balance a bit and slumped to the floor. Puppy to the rescue! Not a fall - just loopy and off balance a bit. Walked around the house with my walker device twice. Surgeon does not want me bent over but standing straight up.
    Day Two
Today follow-up appointment at surgeons office 9:15am. Everything looked great and they were amazed with my healthy appearance. I believe this is attributable to clean and simple eating, water, no sugar or salt or little processed products. 5 pounds of skin was removed and I feel so much lighter! That puts me at 124! - Of course, after swelling and settling in the next weeks and months to follow maybe more.... I had them take a picture of the removed flesh. I see it fascinating, not morbid. After all, it was a part of me once. Got a glimpse of the girls aka. breasts today and I love them!!! Perky and pretty. No longer the inherited elongated missels downward from my mother and Aunt! Haha.
Other supplements to help with pain + wound healing are daily Juven drink, Arnica, stool softener, Oxycodone graduating to Tylenol as needed. In other knee surgeries - I found keeping ahead of the pain was better than when in pain.
Overall, so far, this whole process has been intriguing AND not as bad as I thought. Sensing a good premise of what's to follow. My compression garments and socks actually feel really good - stabilizing me + fit well. They placed pads between the stitches and garment. So far feeling not pinching or discomfort. We are having crispy cool whether and enjoyed a walk down the block with hubby and puppy this afternoon. Tonight Hubby's making our favorite navy bean Soup with loads of veggies, cloves + baked ham cubes for flavor. He also made Chia pudding to die for made with vanilla, pear, orange, macadamia nuts, cacao powder... Nice winter recipes.
Very excited and feel most fortunate to take this next step to what will become another game changer. I want my 60's to be a fabulous decade!
Do hope all the ladies in our winterized plastics group continued best wishes and quality healing. Addie ;]

Hi my name is Michelle and I am 50 years old and live in North Carolina. I have my first all day appointment where I meet the surgeon, nutritionist, psych evaluation etc. I was told I have to do all my pre op work same day. I plan on being there all day. I do have to do the endoscopy but I think that is a separate day.

i was told to bring a healthy snack because there are breaks. No fast food or junk food. I am a big Water drinker so no problem there but I need some ideas for healthy Snacks. It’s an hour drive so something that doesn’t need refrigerating.
Has anyone wanted to have a “last meal” you know stuff that you can’t eat after surgery? Is it a bad idea?
Also I am listening to the audio book and was told to download app for this forum but I can’t get it to work on my iPhone. Anyone else have this issue?
i am excited to make some new friends here and read everyone’s stories of how things are going.

They just called me with a new surgery date... June 11 and I start the pre-op diet on Fri. I need to go buy all those Protein Drinks I need. I'm so happy that I won't have time to worry about the surgeries. I wish I hadn't been such a slug these past 8 weeks, but I have two weeks to exercise.

All my pre-op appointments came to a standstill on March 12th, except for the 2 last pre-op education modules that were done with Zoom online. Last week most of the specialists re-opened. Yes! So now I have four things left to do: sleep study, mammogram, colonoscopy and cardiology clearance. Fingers crossed for all of us!

I will note the part of the message above which says "For those of you who think you are too old, I'm 73 and did it." Well, I'm 81 and did it
GREAT BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU SANDRA.

It has been a journey, the last several months the hardest! The down 2 up 1 is driving me crazy after the dropping easier for the first 6 months. Now I struggle for 5 pounds a month. But today I'm going to sit back and enjoy the loss and feel very proud of myself. I never thought I'd be here a year ago. I was still trying to qualify for the surgery and gaining weight each day. Today is the start of my new me and new life. I can walk every day without knee pain and look forward to it too. For those of you thinking about it just do it. For those who think you are too old, I'm 73 and did it. Good luck to everyone out there and please stay healthy!

Just got an email saying to expect delays in my pre op approval and prep program process. Trying not to feel selfishly bummed when I’m so ready to jump into this. Anyone hear of surgeries being postponed due to the growing seriousness of the pandemic? I imagine it’s inevitable.

I have have been waiting for almost a year for this process to start. I had my first appointment with my surgeon on January 2nd and it went well. My doctor has scheduled the following appointments.
    01/28/2020 Physiological Evaluation
    02/03/2020 Endoscopy
    02/06/2020 Nutrition Visit
    02/06/2020 Diet Visit
    02/12/2020 Exercise Evaluation
    02/18/2019 Pre-Op Classes
The insurance coordinator said as soon as I am done with the Exercise Evaluation they will submit to insurance for approval they said this could take from a few hours to a few weeks to get it back. I have Blue Cross I hope the turn around time will be short. Once insurance approves me they said surgery would be scheduled for 3 weeks after the approval. Thankfully my insurance has no waiting time or mandated diet before surgery. Has anyone else had things move this fast? I am not going to lie I am getting nervous/excited at how fast its all going.

Everything moved extremely fast for me. I started the process in December 2018 and had surgery the following August. I have two insurances and paid ZERO for my surgery and my Vitamins are all covered as well. Everything happens for a reason, trust the process.
