RainbowBrite57 got a reaction from Maribelle76 in Failing miserably
Hello everyone! It's been a hot minute since I've posted or even visited this page. I need to rant about myself & I know this is a safe, non-judgemental place to do so. I had my surgery on 9/13/20. When I got home from the hospital after a 2 night stay, I was SO HUNGRY. I told myself I wouldn't be a casualty of going off the rails, especially right away but that's what happened.
I hold myself fully accountable. I've most definitely stretched out my stomach although I know it's no where near what it was. My surgeon made my follow-ups for a month out then six months out. The surgeon's office had just switched from doing a month, three months, then six month follow-ups, although I've been told I can make an appointment anytime I want to, free of charge for the rest of my life. I wish I would've made an appointment right away for guidance, instead I listened to the lies my mind was telling me. Now I'm almost 7 months out. I'm down 40 pounds which I'm very happy about but I don't feel like I've "earned" that loss at all.
I know all the things I should be doing. I read & read & read before surgery- on this forum, books, other online resources, etc. I felt so ready. Silly me. I know I can get back on track right this minute & stop any more harm to my health and to my stomach size. I have a book sitting at home that I know will be fantastic at helping me. I ordered an adult tricycle that should be getting put together today or tomorrow. I even bought a $1,400 elliptical trainer I've used maybe 5 times.
I'm just so very disappointed in myself. I'm hoping this confession to y'all will relieve me of some of this guilt I'm carrying around. I feel like crying & if I could kick my own booty. Thanks for listening y'all.

RainbowBrite57 got a reaction from PecanFrost in Woke up in recovery rm in severe pain , pain so horrible
I was in horrible pain when I woke up too. At the very beginning the gas pain was overriding my surgical pain. That quickly changed. They kept wanting me to take pills for the pain which I knew wouldn't kick in for a while. I'm also already on a low-dose narcotic for back pain so I knew my tolerance to pain medicine was built up. I finally made sure my nurse knew that & begged for my next few doses of pain medication be delivered through my IV. She was able to do that & it helped so much. If you haven't asked for something stronger or told them the amount of pain you are in, please do. I hope things get better for you!
  3. Thanks
RainbowBrite57 reacted to catwoman7 in Benefiber for fullness?
not Benefiber - but I've done it with plain Metamucil (for those early out, Benefiber is safer than Metamucil if you need extra Fiber for whatever reason. I was allowed to do either once I was a few months out).
I actually learned that trick from my former PCP (from way before I had WLS). She's not heavy, but she said she's ALWAYS struggled with keeping her weight down. Since her main problem time was at night, she'd have a beverage with Metamucil in it after eating dinner. It usually kept her full until bed time.

I add 2 tablespoons Benefiber to my large bottle of Crystal light each day. Good question about fullness! I was doing it to avoid taking Miralax.

I didn’t realize that fiber helps keep you full. I mix it in my crystal light three times a day though to keep me regular but that is a pleasant side effect.

I've recently started adding a serving of Benefiber to my 2 Premier Protein shakes a day & it's helping me feel fuller longer as opposed to just the Protein Shake. Does anyone else do this? Just curious. 😀

    1. Who moved my car seat back? Oh, nobody. My butt is smaller and I'm sitting further back.
    2. What? Do gold necklaces stretch? Oh, no. My neck just got smaller and now the chain looks longer.
    3. Painting my own toenails.
    4. Fitting in most any chair.
    5. Not worrying about getting stuck in chairs with arms.
    6. Not worrying about a chair breaking (mostly outdoor chairs). Been there, done that.

Here are just a couple of the silly things that have made me smile the last couple weeks:
    1. I can buy cute underwear that are not made out of white flour sack material.
    2. I can put on my socks in the morning with out making strange sounds and grunting.
    3. When getting dressed to go somewhere the first thing out of my mouth is NOT "does this make me look fat!"

I’ve noticed that I have already been able to handle the heat a little better in south Florida after 30 pounds. Granted it’s not summer weather yet and I won’t lose it fast enough to be able to handle it this year but next year I should. You reminded me of that because my husband lives outside and in the summer I rarely see him cause it’s just too hot for me.

Being able to help my husband build our new fence. I wouldn’t have been able to help much a year ago. Not sure if this is really a good thing 🙄😂

I also love being able to fold into smaller spaces.

Today I had an unexpected and surprisingly satisfying NSV. I noticed that my belly button shrank. It's about 50% shallower than it used to be! Who knew I would be so pleased about less depth to my belly button? 😆

I've only lost 30 lbs and I haven't had surgery yet, but I just noticed this yesterday. My shoelaces came untied and I didn't have to sit down to tie them; I just bent over and I didn't want to vomit!

Being able to buy clothes "off the rack" rather than having to go to a DXL store. It's amazing the difference in cost. When I started the journey I had a 56-inch waist, which non-Big&Tall stores just don't stock.
I've been reluctant to invest a whole lot of money in clothes as I've been losing weight, as ideally I will continue to lose sizes for a bit longer, so why pay for clothes I'll (hopefully) only wear for a couple months. It's like the reverse of being a kid/teenager, when Mom would get frustrated that I outgrew clothes yet again.
However, at some point the old clothes start looking awful, like you're wearing a tent... not to mention heavy and uncomfortable AF. Being in a transition state with sizes and not wanting to spend money, I went to Wal-Mart and bought some $10.97 jeans... first time wearing jeans in over 30 years. Hard to wrap my brain around it... the jeans weren't unbearably uncomfortable. I was able to buy 44-inch waist and now several weeks later, they're already feeling a bit loose. My next shopping trip, it might be 42.
They had a bunch of dress shirts on clearance that rang up at $2. The XL (down from 3XL) fit easily. At that price, who cares if they fall apart in a few washes.
A whole new world: Being able to shop clothing sales and clearance. That hasn't been part of my life in many many decades.

Also, um how shall I put this...feeling confident that I can comfortably reach the "in-between" crotch spot to give it a good wash.
