    So disappointed in people

This site has really proved invaluable for support & I'm so happy I joined. I'm so excited for you- Monday is almost here! My surgery is September 9th. I'm looking forward to seeing your journey!
  3. I'm confused on making protein shakes. I thought it was pretty darn simple- liquid, powder, blend. But I'm getting a ton of foam & all flavors taste disgusting all airy like that. I made a drink with water, flavored water powder, & unflavored protein for lunch. I couldn't handle the taste right away but now I'm seeing that the foam reduces the longer in sits in the fridge so I'll be trying it again soon. Can y'all please tell me the different methods you use so I can get some ideas? Thank you!

    So disappointed in people

I've got a funny update for y'all. Yesterday the supervisor in charge of scheduling put out the schedule for the first week I'm off for surgery. Anytime someone is out for a full week (vacation, sick, whatever), their name is left on the schedule but the days/times are blank since they won't be there. Well, I look at the schedule today & she completely removed my name. Interestingly, another co-worker is off for vacation that entire week but is her name removed? Nope. These petty people have me laughing now! 😂🤣😂

    Pre Op diet started

Oh wow, that's awesome! I get to have 1 piece of fruit and a small dinner along with 3 protein shakes. I thought mine was generous! I'm starting my pre-op diet today too. Good luck to us!!! ☺️

    14 days & counting!

Today I start my 2 week pre-op diet! I’m super lucky in that I get to have 1 serving of fruit at lunch & a small high protein/low carb meal for dinner along with 3 shakes a day. I know 14 days will come quick but right now it seems a million years away!

    Protein foam?

When I add protein powder to my water & shake it, I get a lot of foam. Do I have to drink the foam too to get in all the protein the drink is supposed to supply? This feels like a really silly question!

    Protein foam?

Ok, thank you! I’ll do the same.

    Protein foam?

I’m mixing in unflavored protein powder & an individual Crystal Light water powder and I can’t tell any difference in taste.
  10. Is/was anyone else just worn down & exhausted before your surgery? It’s not from expending too much energy because I don’t have much to spend. It just feels like my body is done with the strain of carrying this extra weight around for two decades. (I’m 40) I’ve had my pre-op tests so if it’s actually something medical, it would hopefully show up. It really doesn’t feel like symptoms from a disease or anything. It just feels like my body has had enough.

    Feeling so weary

Thanks for all the feedback, y’all! Now that I’ve been given a surgery date (Sept. 9th) I have a bit more energy. I think my adrenaline is kicking in from being in “preparing for surgery” mode. 😁

That last line got me, I laughed way too hard! 🤣 Hey, I probably burned a few calories, yay!

    So disappointed in people

Thank you everyone so, so much. You have all made me feel so much better. Honestly, your kind words brought tears to my eyes and now I'm smiling again. 😁 We only have 19 employees & that's including our finance manager and janitor. There isn't even a HR department to go too! My director is a very kind soul but she hates confrontation. I'd have to go to our library board & that would cause a HUGE stink so I'm just going to power through the next 2 1/2 weeks and enjoy the month I don't have to see their faces! They will certainly see a different co-worker when I return. I will do as y'all suggested & not let their attitudes effect me in the slightest. Thank you for the heads up about relationships changing too. I have read about that & I've talked that over with my husband. We are going to do our best to recognize issues before they turn in to full-fledged problems. Knowing y'all are here to support me means more than I can say.

    Anyone for September 2020?

Hi! My surgery date is September 9th. I'm so happy to be a part of one of these threads now! I'd love to have some surgery buddies too. 😀
  19. I won't miss the bruises I get when sitting in a lawn chair because I'm squished in so tight. I won't miss needing a shower directly after my shower because I've sweated so much after drying my hair.

    The Waiting Game

I finally called the surgeon's office this morning & received my surgery date of September 9th. I'll be counting the days! It's time to get my head in the right place, purchase all the necessities & do the prep work, as well as get my mess of a house cleaned up! Woo hoo! DwGirl, any update on getting your phone call? Thanks for all the support, y'all!
  21. Hi y’all! I’m a few weeks away from starting my 2 week pre-op diet so I’ve started replacing breakfast or lunch with a protein shake. Every time I get nauseous after. The whey protein isolate I’m using is lactose-free. I’ve done some research so I know the sweeteners could be the culprit. But I’m wondering if it could just be too much protein too soon since I’m just starting out. I’d like to explore that route first. Has anyone else slowly increased their protein powder intake to avoid nausea & it actually worked?

    Nausea from protein shakes/powder

I've really had a hard time getting the way notifications work for some reason so I didn't see a lot of your replies until now. 😶 I bought several trial packs of Nectar when I went for my pre-op testing. I've really enjoyed some of them & some not so much. I like the fruity ones that I can mix in water best. I'm able to do the unflavored Isopure whey protein isolate without issue so I think I'm going to stick to that & protein water. I'll probably add a protein shake every once in a while. Thank you all for your advice and commiseration! I hope all of us who are having trouble figure out what works best for us soon!
  23. Google how body builders make weight when they need to lose. I had to do this one time during the 6 months of appointments & that advice is how I lost 8 pounds in just a few days. The weight came back, of course, but it was a "quick fix". Good luck!

    Protein Water Question

Hi! I'm having a hard time with the protein shakes. I'm trying all kinds of flavors but I just don't like them. I know I may have to force them down & I will if it comes to that. My question is can I use protein water & unflavored protein powder to get my protein in every day after surgery and not drink shakes? I tried the unflavored protein in water and it tasted just fine so I know I can use that. I've got a case of protein water on the way too. Any advice would be helpful! Thank you! (I'm sure this question has been asked over & over but my search results were 17,000+ and nobody has time for that, ha!)
