  1. Can anyone tell me the best option for protein powder packets for water? I would like to know if there are packets or powder you can buy to mix that has a lot of protein per serving?
  2. Anyone had the sleeve surgery done robotically? My surgeon called today and ask if I would be ok with him doing it robotically. He said it is more precise and gives him a much better view and recovery most likely will be easier! I said ok, but just wondering if anyone else has had it that way?

    Robotic sleeve surgery

You will do great! I ended up having a 4 hour surgery instead of 2 because I had a huge hernia that we did not know about. That being said I got right off the table when they brought me to my room from recovery and sat in a chair instead of getting in the bed, put my pajamas on, and was walking within an hour! My recovery has been great. The only real pain I had at all was the gas pain from the CO2 they put in. That lasted a few days and was pretty bad but that was it! No problem drinking water, no nausea ect. I really think the robotic surgery is the way to go and a much easier recovery!

    Scared to eat?

I still have 2 more weeks on shakes before moving to pureed food. I have been on liquids as of tomorrow for 4 weeks. My biggest fear is I won't feel any restriction or fullness when I start eating. I have had no problem whatsoever drinking more water than what is required nor drinking any of the shakes. I don't feel any pain or restriction and have not had any episodes of nausea or vomiting! Not even immediately after surgery! Has anyone ever heard of anyone else like that or experienced that? Sometimes I feel like I didn't even have the surgery?

I would call my surgeon if I couldn't get in touch with the dietitian. Keep drinking chicken broth too!

    Too much water at once?

I pray it gets better for you. I think I was really out of the norm because most people do have a hard time in the beginning. the weird part Is I never have liked water and really hated the idea I would have to give up my mountain dews. I really have been worried that something was wrong with my surgery since I could drink it like that. I dont know why there is such a difference. I hope it turns around for you quickly! Lol💗

    Too much water at once?

I was able to drink all of my water while still in the hospital. I have been home from the hospital since Saturday afternoon and probably drinking 100 ounces or more. I am shocked. I have not had any nausea or anything!

    Robotic sleeve surgery

Mine went very well. I ended up having a huge Hiatal hernia that had to be repaired and surgery lasted 4 hours. 2 hours more than expected. Even with that happening I feel very little pain in the abdomen area. My biggest issue is I had my surgery on Thursday 2/27 and still have a lot of gas pain.

    I’m so nervous!

I had surgery last Thursday. I ended up having repair on what they said was a very large hernia. I was in surgery for 4 hours. I had mine done robotically. I can tell you that one of the 1st things I heard the recovery nurse say was they put a lot of air in you. I guess because the hernia was unexpected and I had some scar tissue. I have almost no abdominal pain, but a lot of pain from the gas which is getting a little better each day. I have and still am taking my pain meds because I just figured I might as well instead if being in pain. However I am reducing my dosage and will probably stop taking as of tomorrow! You will be fine!

    2nd day post op

So I had my surgery Thursday. I ended up having a very large Hiatal hernia that was repaired which caused my surgery to last 4 hours. I stayed in the hospital Thurday and Friday and came home Saturday afternoon. I still have a lot of pain from the air they put in. I was even told by the recovery room nurse that used a lot of air on me. It is starting to get some better. My biggest concern is I have had no problem at all drinking my water. Most everyone on here says they can't get close to getting it down. I can drink even more than the 64oz they want us to drink. It makes me wonder am I going to be able to eat normally instead of just a small amount? I will be liquids for a while but I sure hope i am not going to be able to eat without restrictions! Anyone else experience this?

    2nd day post op

I hope you will too. I am just a little shocked and confused because so many people have a struggle getting the water in. I don't know if the fact I had my surgery done robotically has anything to do with it or not?

    2nd day post op

Thank you I feel better hearing that!
  16. I am a bag of nerves and weak as a cat. Been on this all liquid diet for 2 weeks, but today I don't get to have the protein shakes, cottage cheese ect. Nope, today is crystal light, chicken broth, Gatorade, and magnesium citrate. I see now what a difference the shakes made every day. I don't drink the magnesium citrate until 4, and can't imagine what that is going to be like since everything coming out seems to be water. All kinds of thoughts running through my head like being on this 2 week liquid diet, of course there is weight loss and I am feeling skinny. It makes you think why couldn't you have just done this on your own? Wondering how everything will go tomorrow? Hospital in the morning at 6. Will I go immediately to a room and have IV's? How soon will I be put to sleep ect? I really hope things happen quick so i don't have a lot of thinking time! Tomorrow starts a whole new healthy life!

    Tomorrow is the day!

Well guys, I had my surgery. Turns out I had a very huge hernia that I didn't know about! I was in surgery for 4 hours. I am doing great though except for the gas pain. I have walked, and I have drank a total of 20 ounces that also included 1 packer of injury clear protein drink. I have 6 little holes. Throat is a little sore but I am doing way better than expected. God is so good! Now can't wait to get over the air pain. My shoulders are really hurting!

    The Lord's Supper

So this morning in church I told my husband IDK if I should participate in the Lord's Supper or not. We partake by drinking a small medicine cup maybe 1 ounce of grape juice and an oyster cracker to represent the blood and body of Christ! I said that grape juice has sugar in it! I finally just said you know I am going to do what I always do every week and take it because I know the Lord will take care of me. Somehow I ended up getting the biggest oyster cracker I have ever seen. I think it was honestly the size of a dime! I made my granddaughters laugh so hard on the way home because I told them that the Lord blessed me by having me pick up the biggest cracker in the plate!😂😂😂😂

    Struggling with preop diet

My surgery is Thursday! I had a few ounces of deli ham yesterday! I left off my protein shake. I felt shaky and just got to the point I felt I had to have something! I know it wasn't the right thing to do but it was purely protein. We are all human and if I had to bet money I would bet most everyone cheats in some way! At least I didn't cheat with carbs or something really bad. This morning I went to church and we take the Lord's supper with a medicine size cup with grape juice and an oyster cracker to represent the blood and body of Christ. I told my husband I don't know if I should participate or not. I sat there and thought you know I am going to participate as I always do, I know the Lord will take care of me. On the way home I told my family like wow I got the biggest cracker in the plate. I think the Lord just blessed me by having me grab the biggest oyster cracker on the plate! They were dying!😂

    Pre-OP diet ugh!

My surgery is Thursday the 27th. I have been doing the 2 week pre-op diet. It is soooo hard. I have had protein shakes, daily, jello, cottage cheese ect. that is called for. Last week when I started I make this chicken santa fe soup all the time for my family( a family favorite)that consist of chicken breast, black beans, onion, taco seasoning, chicken broth and tomato juice! Since my diet consist of up to 2 cups of tomato juice daily and unlimited chicken broth I would eat the broth part of the soup that was more flavorful than just having tomato juice or chicken broth by itself. I have a very active job sometimes walking anywhere from 6-10 thousand steps a day, so this restriction has been hard. I have had 3 premier protein shakes a day, the soup broth, and 2 cups of cottage cheese a day mixed with jello and cheated with a little sugar free cool whip on top. Today I have felt very weak and very tired and instead of having 3 shakes I had 2 but I ate a little bit of deli ham. No bread or anything just maybe a couple of ounces. I felt like I just had to have something I was starving. I really hope I haven't sabotaged my surgery. I have also been in the bathroom a lot today to the point there is just water coming out today. I don't know what to think. I feel like I have already had the magnesium citrate and that is not until Wednesday? IDK what to think?
