I just went to a concert and was able to buy a shirt too! I mostly wear xl now but they didn't have an xl in the one I wanted so got large and it fit. I couldn't believe it! It is so cool to be able to buy a concert shirt!
It sounds like you are doing great with your weight. You're almost back down to where you were before your hip surgery. That is a big surgery to go through!
I know what you mean about still seeing a bigger person when I look in the mirror.
It is hard to look and the mirror and not see the bigger person, but sometimes I get a glimpse of myself and don't recognize myself. And just remember, those smaller clothes don't lie!!

Hello fellow losers! You know how you read that Sleevers lose 80% of their desired weight...well, that's me! I would LOVE to lose another 10-20 pounds, but I'm down 82 pounds and feel GREAT! I did not work out and still don't...but I have been so happy with my results. I keep saying that I am going to get serious and start tracking again...and lose a few more pounds, but then something comes up (like visits, vacations, happy hours, dinners out) and I am just happy to stay below 200 pounds! One-derland!

I’m glad to see this thread popping up again! I was reading it OBSESSIVELY this time last year. 😄 I’m doing well…far better than I imagined I would do. I’m still glad that I’ve done the surgery. I’m down 145 lbs from my pre-surgery weight of 299, and surpassed my original goal. I’ve reset my goal to 145 lbs, so just another 8.4 lbs to go. I honestly don’t know if I’ll hit my new goal, but I’m okay with that.

I feel good, I’m off all prescription meds, my resting heart rate is waaaaay down, and a 4-mile daily walk has become a pleasurable habit. I love that my legs look muscular, that I can shop for regular sized clothes and can tie my sneakers without a fuss.

I still am very uncomfortable with having non-healthy foods in the house, and don’t trust myself with tempting foods being close by. I worry about ‘boredom eating’ so I’m working on that. I am trying to adhere to the philosophy of making good choices most of the time. I am in the process of figuring out what “most of the time” means to me.

I’m working from home so it’s been a slow process of encountering my friends and coworkers. I can see the shock in their faces at my weight loss and just say that it’s been a ‘year of health’ for me. I am continually surprised at all the diet advice / opinions I get from people now, and so much of it inaccurate! I’ve been told that walking for exercise is useless (!), metabolism never changes (I am 55 and it most certainly has), the types of calories consumed doesn’t make a difference (I wish that was true so I could go back to eating more carbs!). It’s all stuff that we’ve all heard before. I’m thankful that I’ve had the past year to log my food and figure out for myself what works.

@IWantTheDream I know a hip replacement is in my future, and I worry about that. When did you know that it was finally time to get it done?

How is everyone doing. This chat has been very quiet for along time. Well we are all now 1 year out. I’m doing ok. Still not where I thought I would have been but I guess it’s at least healthier. I am 101 lbs down. I still want to loose another 35 lbs but am seriously loosing hope. The scale just doesn’t want to move for months now. Very disappointing. I had a total hip replacement one month ago so I can’t really do crazy exercise right now but all in all I am doing fine. So how is everyone doing? Hopefully everyone is doing good and is healthy n safe where ever you are.

I did regret getting the surgery for about four weeks after because recovery was ruff I also had a hiatal hernia repair and my hip got messed up some how during the surgery and could barely walk on it for a week and a half. Mind u the hip was in bad shape before surgery so it didn’t take much. How ever I am 11 months out and 88 pounds down n I do have trouble digesting steak it doesn’t sit well and I really don’t miss anything and now my only regret is that I didn’t do it 10 yrs ago. Hershey Reese’s Peanut Butter cup are in sugar free ! Just so you know the sell them at target. I love just know if I really need a peanut butter cup I can have one. Good luck 🍀

I was sleeved in beginning of July and by August I was walking an orchard for exercise and picking peaches n Apples by September 1 and I lived on them that was my favorite thing granted it took me two day to finish an apple but I never got a leek you just make sure you chew good n listen to your pouch it will tell you if it doesn’t like something. Trust me when it happens you won’t do it again lol

I’m nine months out and started at some 20’s and some 18’s and two months ago I dropped to size 16 however my friend gave me some jeans n most are 14 n 12 but one is a 18 and it is skin tight way way smaller everywhere the my 16’s are . So yeah sizes are different all over in different brands and it can make you feel really like your not achieving what you want so I feel your pain I do. I thought I would be in a lower size by now and am disappointed but I just keep hoping everything will work out sooner rather then later.

I personally range from 800-1000 cal each day. But honestly I don’t know if I’m doing to many or not enough. I only lose an average of one pound each week now at six months out. I’m very slow looser and it’s very stressful and discouraging. Hopefully you are doing much better then I . 🙂

I am incredibly restless and antsy today. I think its because the sun is shining but its still too cold to hang out outside and I'm ACHING for summer to arrive. That and I have had like ZERO real exercise/activity in the past week cuz of a sore toe.
Sooo...decided to GET DRESSED. lol. Put on a pair of jeans (first time in weeks), did my hair and makeup (first time since xmas), even shaved my legs (first time since summer!). Put on a tube top to feel summer-y, but i got too cold soon after this pic and put on socks and a sweatshirt. Sigh.
The Kid when she saw me come out of my room in this outfit : "My, you look skanky today. I like it." She cracks me up. ❤️😂

Congratulations 🎊 so happy to hear that you are almost at goal and doing great. I also bought a spin bike and signed up for Peloton app I love the classes. This morning it was supposed to be a rest day because I love doing the classes so much I very rarely take a day off so I make myself take a low impact class at least once a week so I did a Disney spin and was singing the whole time lol. Enjoy your bike . # JustKeepSpinning

Woah... I just updated my weight on my profile, and I knew that would put my BMI under 30, but I still cried a little when I saw 29. This is the first time in my adult life that I am not obese! I can hardly believe it!

IWantTheDream reacted to BigSue in Jordan's Skinny Syrups Haul
I've been purchasing Torani and DaVinci sugar-free syrups for a while, and I found another brand, Jordan's Skinny Syrups, on Amazon. I decided to try it out and I purchased this Caramel Collection Trio with Caramel Pecan, Salted Caramel, and Caramel vanilla Creme:
    https://amazon.com/Jordans-Skinny-Syrups-Caramel-Collection/dp/B07B8PDS4V
I loved these so much that I wanted to try some more flavors, and they have A TON. Some are available on Amazon, and I've heard that Home Goods and TJ Maxx have them for a great price ($3.99), but I don't live near either of those stores, so I went to their web site (http://SkinnyMixes.com) and... I went a little crazy! They were having a 25% off sale at the time, and I bought 13 different flavors for a total of $52.22 (including shipping) -- that's $4.02/bottle. Not bad! Here's what I got:
6-bottle Dessert Sampler Peanut Butter Cup Glazed Donut Mint chocolate Chip Chocolate Coconut Macaron Iced Cinnamon Roll Caramel Creme Cheesecake Hazelnut Chocolate Caramel Truffle Caramel Fudge Waffle Cone Caramel Pecan (this was my favorite from the Caramel Collection Trio, so I had to get more!) Maple Bourbon Pecan Raspberry Cherry I can't wait to try them all! I mainly use flavored syrups in tea and Crio Bru (brewed cacao). I don't like coffee, but I think most people use them in coffee to make fancy Starbucks-like flavored coffee drinks. For those struggling to drink enough fluids, I highly recommend trying flavored teas/coffee/cocoa (I also find that warm beverages are great for filling me up between meals). They're also good in yogurt and Protein oatmeal. I imagine they would enhance smoothies as well. There are SO MANY awesome flavors available that it was hard for me to narrow it down to "only" 13, but I decided to buy the minimum to get free shipping and save the rest for my next order.

Well I have officially found Onederland! I got on the scale his morning and almost freaked out and woke everyone up when it said 198.0. Yes I did it . I have not been below 200lb since elementary school age. Crazy I know. I have found exercise I actually am happy doing and can’t wait to get out of be and do everyday. I bought a sunny health spin bike and downloaded the Peloton app and I am obsessed big time. I now look forward to waking up at 5:30 am and exercising. Wow! I still have 48lbs to hit my goal weight but I think I am just know starting to enjoy this journey. So how is everyone doing? This chat has been pretty quiet for a long while. Hope everyone is great and experiencing great things on there journey.

I'm happy to see all these success stories! I have lost over 100 pounds since my surgery, and over 170 from my highest weight. I am literally HALF the person I was a year ago! I've been working out almost every day for several months, and I got a new Fitbit for Christmas that has motivated me to walk more. I got pretty bored getting 10,000 steps just walking around the house, so I've started taking walks around the neighborhood (1-2 miles) every day.

Congratulations everyone! It is truly thanks to everyone on here that I was able to stay involved and engaged for this journey! It's not easy but I feel great! I'm not in w"one"derland yet, but I hope (if I can break this stall) I will be there before summer! I need to work out...but this pandemic and not going to the gym has really stalled me on that. Let's see if I can get motivated by your success! Thank you all!

Meh, to each their own. But I'm tired of lying. These surgeries fix our stomachs, not our heads. Our heads will never be well if we keep lying. And we are CHAMPION liars about food and hunger (and fitness and body image, etc.) We're also prone to extreme thinking. If it's not one extreme it's the other. I want something truthful that is moderate and sane and not so EXTREME all the time.
1000 calories a day indefinately...is eventually called an eating disorder. We can't avoid food. We need to make peace with it and be honest about it.
If we've been lying about food and hunger to ourselves, we are much more at risk of regaining or developing an eating disorder in the other direction or another addiction.....which does happen.
I'm personally not interested in an eating disorder. I'm not interested in being someone who stands in the sun and believes the energy is flowing into me. LOLOLOLOL.
I have no interest in the nonsense of "skinny, perfect, beautiful". I like how I look, and I always have. Even when I was 270 pounds.
I want to be someone who is an average weight for a woman my age...who feels strong and healthy and has excellent labs and no medications. I want a long healthy life. I want to stop the weight obsession/identity/cycle of madness.
I want to be someone who relates to food in a normal way. Someone who can enjoy everything in moderation who has the self control to stop and self regulate. Someone who doesn't think about food every minute of the day.
And I think my chances of getting there are a hell of a lot better if I'm honest. So does my bariatric therapist.
I am nearly 50, and I'm just getting this figured out after a lifetime of diets and extreme thinking. I love my moderate, normal weight.... and my moderate normal eating habits.... and my moderate normal fitness.
Here's a current pic of me. Not perfect. Moderate. Normal. But exactly who I want to be:) And yep...this chick gets HUNGRY when she's not eating 1400-1600 calories a day:)
