  1. I would like to take a moment to share how I am feeling today. First, thank you to my Higher Power for being there every day on my weight-loss journey. I began the process at 285 in November. I had surgery December, 2019, and weighed 264 morning of surgery. Today 4 months and a week later, I am 215. I have more to go to reach my goal, and perhaps to some observers I might have lost the weight quite slowly because it has taken me 4 months, but I am very grateful for my own journey. I am feeling healthier day-by-day! Congratulations on your own successes, and be gentle with and kind to yourself. Thank you, and be well.
  2. Thank you for the great advice all and Happy New Year!
  3. Hi all. I am now home from the hospital. I was told by the surgeon that surgery was successful. I am asking to please give me your feedback on what I am physically feeling. I am on clear-diet, but am feeling some heartburn even when I try to eat diet free Jello or drink a clear protein. Also, my stomach is semi-upset all day, a bit nauseous. I have started walking, but feel I need to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes for #1 or #2 although all is liquid. Just wondering if anyone else felt these symptoms after 3 1/2 days post-surgery? Maybe I am doing something wrong. Oh and even the thought of drinking broth is grossing me out. I pray things get better, but I would appreciate your wisdom. Thank you, JoeJohn
  4. Thank you for your inspiring words. My surgery is tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. I noticed that in my original message I typed in the incorrect date of the 25. My surgery is tomorrow, Dec. 29th. Thanks again for your support, JoeJohn!
  5. Wow! That sounds great. Thank you so much for the inspiration! Good to hear you are doing so well!
  6. Hi all. My name is JoeJohn. I am 280 40 BMI 5.' 7" 57 yrs. old I have already been diagnosed with Diabetes 2, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep-apnea and am taking medication for all, including insulin. My hope is that I can in the near future overcome some of these conditions. I have been told by doctors that they are weight related. My surgery is on Monday, Dec. 25, 2019. So it is now just over 3 days more of clear liquid diet. I don't feel hungry because of all the protein shakes, I guess. But, of course, I did have a dream that I had lost my sober/clean time by sneaking out of my house and chasing a cheeseburger all over the city. I am hoping those kinds of dreams are normal. Anyway, I feel both anxious and excited, a bit of both. I work a 12-step program of recovery and have a strong faith in my Higher Power, so I believe the spiritual principles and living tools will now help me in this new era of my life. So we say the prayer: "Take my will and my life, guide me in my recovery, show me how to live. . . " and I begin each day at that point of surrender. God bless you all, and thank you for sharing your stories as they are giving me strength. Happy New Year!
