I can totally relate to your fears. My gerd was so bad presurgery, but bypass was not going to be one of my options. I wanted the sleeve. My heartburn was terrible right after the surgery, the heartburn pills helped tremendously! Then I changed my diet drastically, to mainly plant based. My gerd will flare up if I eat too fast...sometimes that damn tofu scramble just gets me all excited š Also I am very careful to allow about 45 min to an hour before and after my meals before drinking anything. The longer I wait the better off I am. I donāt take any heartburn meds now.

I went from fried pork chops and smothered potatoes with gravy to Roasted root veggies with kale And a Veggie sandwich...(Broccoli sprouts, arugula, microgreens, tomatoes, olive spread, hummus, smoky tempeh, plant based cheese, and vegan mayo...this was made for the whole fam! Bless their hearts, my husband went plant based with me, and my son is learning to like Veggies.š„³š

My WLS gave me a whole new love for food! I have went to a good 95% plant based way of life now. No meat or dairy. I enjoy cooking, and eating healthy foods. I love to try different Protein recipes from scratch. I use Monk Fruit for tea sweetener. My NUT said with my lifestyle change I will never have to count a carb or calorie again, and I can eat as much fresh veggies, nuts, tofu, and Beans a girl can handle. I am 5 months post op and have lost 68lbs. I feel the best I have ever felt my whole life! I do limit my breads to the extreme. And for pastas, I switched to chickpea Pasta and it is absolutely delish! I have a whole new respect for food now. The saying holds true, we are what we eat!

Iām so grateful I had my surgery. It has given me a new healthy, appreciation, and love for food. I have went plant based since my surgery, and my results are flabbergasting! I feel the best I have ever felt in my whole life. I have taken time to learn and study a healthy plant based diet. I put love into food with everything I cook. I make my own oat milk for Protein coffee. I make healthy veggie burgers from Varieties of Beans. Itās challenging, fun, and it makes my body love me! I know with sticking to my new way of life, I will never return to the old me.

I add tumeric to every dish just about. My inflammation has went down so much since the surgery/weight loss. I had a lot of ulcers from over use of Tylenol and Motrin for some many years. Iām all for natural now.

I just passed 7 weeks and honestly I feel like eating is a chore. There is no enjoyment in it anymore. I rather drink everything, but nut said I need to stay away from āsliderā foods. So I try to eat at least twice a day now. meat and eggs are just horrible to eat anymore. Itās Hard to describe, but itās not enjoyable. Does anyone else have issues?

I managed with two weeks off, it was exhausting though. I really limited my activity the best I could, but even then I was still walking 5+ miles a day. I just felt so weak, with such little calories and activity, I guess thatās to be expected.

I was wondering when does the tummy swelling and recover from the trauma of surgery really go away? Iām 5 weeks PO and still am very sensitive, and still feel as if Iām swollen.

You have lost a lot of weight very quickly, your body may need time to just catch up. How much Protein, calories and Water do you get every day? I was sleeved on the 12th so we are neck and neck. Keep up the good work!

Im so proud of everyone! You all are truly doing amazing! I canāt thank each and every one of you enough for being here and helping me. Iām 4 weeks PO. Two maybe three bites Iām full. I try to eat 3 times a day, sometimes it donāt happen though. Iām eating stuff like vegan meat balls, soft veggies, tofu, avocado, PB2. Iām doing real good with fluids and Protein Drinks. Iām maintaining minimum 60g of Protein, and almost reached 85oz of Fluids. Whoot whoot!!

As far as loose skin, I feel pretty lucky, mine is super minimal. Iām pretty sure with a little exercise I wonāt have any.

Before the surgery I loved the Protein Water in all flavors. After the surgery I couldnāt tolerate them. I like the muscle milk, chocolate and vanilla, I like making coffee and mixing it the night before, refrigerate over night, and cold chocolate coffee for Breakfast is the best! Bulletproof unflavored Protein Powder is good too. Iām about to switch to plant based protein powder and hoping to find one I like too.

Weāre glad your here Rosie, your not alone in this journey. I was not eating chicken yet at 3 weeks, but stuck with soft foods (2 bites) at most, of yogurt, avocado, or mashed vegan ball in Bone Broth. I mainly still did the liquid diet. I wish you the best of luck. You have been through a lot. Your body has been through even more. Big hugs, and remember to take everything one day at a time.

Congratulations for working towards a plant based diet. I am 5 months post op, and it is absolutely doable! As for Protein, there are so many options. Let me count some ways....broccoli, Beans, legumes, nuts, Peanut Butter, chia seeds, hemp hearts(omega 3), nutritional yeast, tofu, tempeh, setian, viral wheat gluten, most plant based pastas, quinoa, sprouted grains, oats, nut butters...ooh boy! That was a lot š¤£š There really is a lot of options out there. I have started to make my own unmeat crumbles. I didnāt learn this way overnight, but I didnāt get this fat overnight neither. My thinking on this WLS for me, is I took a drastic change to lose the weight, and I took a drastic change to keep it off. I comend anyone who is changing there lifestyle after this surgery. My surgery date was 12-12-19, and I have lost 68 lbs. I am living my best life, and I feel the best I have ever felt!
