DeadSpaceGrave got a reaction from catwoman7 in My Story:
My name is Yvonne , I'm 29 years old and I'm from Texas. I have one child that is 5 years old going to be 6 soon and shes my only one so far. I been wanting bariatric surgery since I was 16 because weight has always been in control of my life. I previously lost 86lbs on my own but regained it after I got out of the Army. I had the RNY gastric bypass 10/16/19 and I've lost 51lbs since. I feel great other than a occasional cramp every now and then. I dropped in shirt sizes from 3X to 1X and a pant size from a 22 to a 14. I feel much healthier and I wished I had done it sooner!

DeadSpaceGrave got a reaction from Slownstedy in How important is the no drinking before?
To give your body a opportunity to digest it better. When I have eaten and drank at the same time, my stomach can cause a dump . Where food enters your intestines too fast. And by drinking when you eat, Water or the liquid you consumed takes up alot of space where nutritious food could've been. So you'll lose nutrition that way

im post op 2 months also. You don't want to rush extreme lifting though because i have a abdominal hernia from my daughters cesarean that happened 5 years ago because i went working too soon and lifted too much. I goto the gym now but im not bench pressing anything . I started a light workout with a weighted ball that was simply 10 pounds and i would sit on my butt and place the ball to the left , right , then back left again and it didn't strain anything. Everybody is different but just be on the safe side.

its absolutely normal to feel that way, your body is in shock right now because it doesnt have the same intake of calories and carbs like you were before. I slept on and off most of the time the first 3 weeks . Its a normal adjustment , sometimes even walking around the house had me exhausted before. totally normal!

In my honest opinion, doctors are trained off of the universal scale to height measurements. This , however, doesnt prove the "true" healthy weight for YOU. I am also large build and have always been overweight most of my life. I plan on having my weight at 150 is my goal. if a doctor tried to tell me that it was too low , i would tell them to shove it! that is just me . nobody was made with the same structures. For example like in genetics, my skeleton is not the exact same as yours and i have muscle mass already.Goodluck!

Im wondering what preworkout foods are good to eat before hitting the gym? I went today and my muscles acted like they werent ready? and my weightlifting was slow to increase today so im thinking more carbs ? or do i need more Protein beforehand? i know carbs are the energy source

DeadSpaceGrave got a reaction from Lynda486 in Tortillas Anyone?
Ok so i was thinking of making myself a healthy meat wrap with butter lettuce, easy melt cheese, and black Forrest Ham. I then made the wrap out of 1 tortilla and i was only able to eat half taking my time with chewing good. I felt better eating this tortilla wrap than with the sandwhich i had the other day . I guess its because its thinner?

I have also heard of other substitutes you can buy that are egg related bread wraps? or do you have one you recommend for me to buy somewhere? I feel pretty great after eating it and i did alot of yard work cleaning up garden beds today .
thanks, and im finally out of this plateau. I guess i needed some carbs to kick it! 🤗

I think you should be asking about gastric bypass successes, and focus on the positive! If you adk about complications you're going to hear from the minority, myself included. I hesitate to tell you, but just 5 weeks out from bypass I developed pain when drinking or eating, and couldn't keep anything down. It felt like I had eaten a whole pizza! Turns out I had the most severe stricture the surgeon had ever seen, and lots of ulcers. It took months. And 6 dilations to fix the problem. I'm 8 months post bypass now. And am fine. I was totally unprepared for this. But had a great attitude, and just went with the flow. It's really the only thing you can do when faced with a setback.
Now, I'm praying you don't have any complications at all. I was a very rare case!!

DeadSpaceGrave got a reaction from New&Improved in What percent of your stomach do they take out?
They dont take anything out. Your natural stomach is stapled shut from the top and is fixated to your body inside. What is left of your new "stoma stomach" is usually enough for 1 to 2 oz. of food.

Hope you don’t mind if I suggest some things that helps me with that. I take Natures way Alive! hair skin & nails gummies with 300mg collagen. I also take omegas, my favorite is hero nutritionals Omega 3 with chia seed (also gummies) and my Multivitamin is Garden of Life mykind organics Whole Foods Gummy drops (it’s actually a prenatal Vitamin which is common in bariatric patients) I was going to switch to a one a day tablet but can’t find any without added iodine and the whole food based nutrition absorbs better. (I get them from vitacost.com)

I find certain Vitamins help a lot with dry hair and skin. Also any itching or irritated skin I recommend Tamanu oil, even for blemishes.
