mary77450 got a reaction from No thanks in Breakup Because I Had WLS
Wow. Good riddance I say. My husband lost 70 lbs taking a weekly injectible for diabetes before I had my surgery. I know he wanted me to lose weight too. I had the sleeve in Dec 2019, and lost 104 lbs in 12 months and am maintaining that weight eating and drinking what I want but in tiny portions. I eat healthier than I used to, but I definitely still eat things on occasion that I did not eat in the first year at all, and I had no alcohol for the first 12 months. I am lucky like that, he was very supportive and even did the shake diet with me in the beginning. He's a great cook and it was my love of his good cooking and my liking to eat that got me to 304 lbs in the first place. I ate it all willingly, but he cooks healthier for me now. After 30 years I can't imagine my life with out him. That guy wasn't the right one for you, be glad he helped you see that before he broke your heart or it cost you money.

If you don't like the milky shakes, try Isopure zero carb. They taste like fruit juice and have forty grams of Protein per bottle, no carbs, no sugar and no fat. I don't care for the thick shakes either, except the Premier Protein cafe latte flavor. It tastes like a starbucks latte but has 30 grams of protein. I live on those, beef, shrimp, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, cheese and eggs pretty much. Surgery was 12/18 and I am down 80 lbs

I hear ya on the shakes. I like Built Bars they have tons of Protein and they are nothing like your typical Protein Bars. Almost like eating a candy bar. Low sugar. Really good. I was also doing eggs everything. Good luck.

mary77450 got a reaction from Lily66 in Never could have done this PRE OP
This is so true. There were fun things I was missing out on because I couldn't walk without being in pain in one hip. I limped around as little as possible and was missing all kinds of fun things I couldn't do due to my weight. I am not done losing yet, only 5 mos post op, but at 71 lbs lighter, I physically feel better and can do more and my hip hurts only occasionally instead of constantly. I am glad you too are enjoying your new found freedom to do fun things you couldn't before. Have a safe holiday weekend and enjoy!

Omg! I definitely thought it was a hot flash and I drink a Premier Protein with my coffee. I have been having 2 cups of coffee lately instead of 1 and I guess that coupled with this increased florida heat just finally caught up with me. I try to keep Water and Gatorade on me if I go anywhere. I’m finding it hard to find surgery free Gatorade in most of the stores around me. So I’m back to keeping a small one in my bag like I did immediately after sugar and just ordering a cup of ice to pour it on if I go out. This is my first summer post op.

mary77450 reacted to Arabesque in Losing my hair! Anyone else, and what can help??
My doctors said the surgery & sudden reduced food intake is a shock to our system and one of the side effects is that our normal Hair loss cycle accelerates.
My dietician advised there was nothing much that could be done except keep up my Multivitamins & ensure I meet my Protein requirements. Biotin, silica, collagen, & other supplements to benefit your hair will only make your new growth stronger & not reduce the hair loss. Your hair itself is dead and regularly sheds like our skin cells. It’s just happening faster.
My loss began at about month 3 and started to slow at about month 10. It’s pretty well back to normal now & I can feel it’s thickening again. I lost a good 50% of my hair. Thank gracious I had a lot of it to begin with.

I agree with the person who said some people are afraid to. Some people might think you've lost weight because you're sick or something. Or some people might just think it's rude to comment on other people's weight. I lost over 200 lbs and have had people not say anything. Surely they noticed ???

I think sometimes people are scared to ask too. I’ve lost 50 too and people that I see everyday don’t really notice but I seen a friend that I hadn’t seen in a couple of months before my surgery and she was like wow you lost a lot of weight. Weight is a fragile subject. Great job on the 50 pound down!

I’ve lost 50lbs since 12/18/19.... not one person has said anything! Nothing! Haha Saturday I did back to back spin and ran into a woman who I hadn’t seen since November and she didn’t say a word. BUT! She tells this other girl setting up next to us she looks like she is losing weight. She lost 5lbs! 5 freaking lbs (good for her - not hating on her) and I’ve lost 50 and nothing hahaha

Haha I’m about to make a shirt that says “ask me if I lost weight” or something lmfao desperate times and such

Thank you all for the feedback. After a sleepless night and a discussion with my insurance and the hospital billing office for 2 hours, the bill is being adjusted to $1100. Big difference, right?

It was really easy and quick. They knocked me out and I don't remember a thing. I woke up and my throat was a little scratchy for a day or two but otherwise I would have never noticed any difference

I was sleeved on 12/11/19. So far I am down 23lbs. I hit a two week stall, but I realized I wasn't eating or drinking enough Water.

I had my first appt in very early Dec and got my psych eval done, endoscopy, cardiac clearance, and surgery on the 18th of the same month. My insurance approved in less than 24 hours.

I’m glad you’ve found something you like!! I bought the Isopure unflavored Protein Powder and so far I’ve only mixed it with my Water and a crystal light packet, can barely taste it! Next week when I start purées I will try mixing it into my food. I also got the fairlife chocolate Protein Shakes and I actually like them, tastes like chocolate milk. Other than that I’m good! I think I had hit a little stall because I wasn’t eating much but now that I’ve started on a Protein powder and shake that I like, I’ve started losing again

hi all! had my surgery christmas eve and currently sitting in the waiting room for my first post-op appointment. feeling great but REALLY struggling with the liquid diet, i’m getting everything in without difficulty i’m just so over ten days of this that i’m actually getting really depressed and anxious. i had no idea this would be the hardest part, it’s not even that i’m hungry or crave anything i just hate the taste of these Protein Drinks and they’re so artificial that i hate the idea of investing them. i’m hoping i’ve been doing well enough that maybe my doc will let me start purée early so i can get Protein through real nutrients, fingers crossed.
my first post here so i look forward to posting more and hearing about all your journeys as i embark on mine. happy new year!
