I think you're still healing...I had mine on November 6 and still feel little twinges and things here and there the location where you feel it is actually where your stomach is situated.

That sounds about right..i had my surgery on Nov.6 2019 and I've lost about 60 lbs myself. Like you u thought it should've been more by now too but from the comments it sounds quite typical. A month after surgery I lost quickly though. I thought it'd be around the same pace.

How tall are you, Grace? If you only weighed 200 on day of surgery and are 5’8”, you didn’t have much to lose, and maybe that’s why it seems slow compared to others?

Hey guys so long time no see. Here’s what’s happened. I have lost a grand total of 258 pounds I now weigh 415 pounds. However I have hit a MAJOR stall. I’m talking about a few MONTHS. I exercise 5 times a week, eat healthy (IE: I meal prepped ground turkey avocado wraps this week as an example) and my body is not having it. It says it loves this weight and will fluctuate slightly but will not go down. I’m at a loss. Help!

I’ve lost 50lbs since 12/18/19.... not one person has said anything! Nothing! Haha Saturday I did back to back spin and ran into a woman who I hadn’t seen since November and she didn’t say a word. BUT! She tells this other girl setting up next to us she looks like she is losing weight. She lost 5lbs! 5 freaking lbs (good for her - not hating on her) and I’ve lost 50 and nothing hahaha

Haha I’m about to make a shirt that says “ask me if I lost weight” or something lmfao desperate times and such

I haven't had surgery yet, but I have been dieting since July 2019 as my surgeon wanted me to get my BMI down to 50 before surgery. I started at trying to stay at or under 2400 calories per day and as I lost weight I dropped it to 2000 per day. After about 3 months I was comfortable on 1600 calories a day. I also noticed that if I stalled or even wasn't stalling that if I had a couple of days closer to my upper limits and then cranked it back down to lower I had my best week of weight loss. I haven't done much research but I think this is labelled as a calorie confusion diet or metabolic confusion diet. This is where you alternate between high calorie and low calorie days. I also did 16:8 intermittent fasting. Your body thinks it is starving on the lower calories and then you bump your metabolism back up with high calorie day.

Hey guys had a very slow week only lost 2.2lbs.
But I am getting very close to the end of my weight loss journey.
    I started my diet before surgery;
Today is 5 months and 1 week from start of my diet and 3 months 1 week since RNY surgery.
    Highest weight was 322lbs.
    Surgery weight was 257lbs
    Current weight 185.8lbs
I've actually surpassed my dietitians goal but I'm not totally happy yet still got some stubborn fat on my lower stomach to lose so I'm going to try get to 180lbs I think 😀
I really need to start working out I think.
BMI down from 43.6 to 25.1 so very close to healthy lol
    THANKS everyone for your support.

Congrats on your great success!!! Yay you!!! I totally understand where you are coming from! I had those feelings too. I was crazy determined though! And I probably drove everyone here nuts! LOL. It's pretty natural. We've had a lifetime (most of us) dealing with the disappointment of "failing the present x-diet we were trying". And each time the pushback metabolically was worse.
My doctor first set a goal of 156lbs for me. I thought I'd never see it--even though my goal was 150lbs (what I weighed in high school). But never did I believe I could reach 130lbs. So I made 3 goals and a 4th top secret BDG Goal (Barbie Dream Girl Goal) which I still don't fully believe in. LOL.
You can do this. It takes fierce determination and mixing things up and not cheating. It takes doing the headwork and using this time to break up with unhealthy food relationships. If you emotionally eat, fix that now too while you have the honeymoon in your favor. I'm coming up on 21 months right now and I'm still losing when I go back into WLM from maintenance mode. This week I lost about 5lbs of bloat from Fatsgiving. I'm gonna see if I can break the 130lb sound barrier. You can do this!
(OH and my doc nor my RD thought I would be able to lose this much weight. My highest was 325lbs and the most recent high was 287lbs.)

️️️️️️️️ Awesome advice!!! Thanks so much!! Yes it was definitely about to become the same pattern and you're so right this surgery was suppose bro be life changing for me so I need to break up with bad habits of feeding sugar cravings. I give into my unbalanced hormones and appear especially week near my monthly but your words are so empowering I haven't thought of it like that until now. That's the very root of the problem!!

I'm sorry you are struggling with this. I think it's fairly common?
And I'm gonna (of course) take the other angle on this one. You had this surgery to give you an opportunity to REFRAME how you deal with food and to learn new behaviors and relationships with food. Right?
You didn't get this surgery just so you could take yet, ANOTHER scenic route, meandering towards weight loss. Did you?
    Cuz I know I didn't.
When you feed a craving you do a couple things...the biggest one is you behaviorally hard wire that action into your brain through repetition. That makes it even harder to break. And then actually using the substance like sugar makes it even worse. But also, using sugar free stuff STILL lights up your pleasure center and activates insulin (fat storing hormone). So....
My advice would be to break up with it. Get an action plan together. You are in WLM (weight loss mode right now). You need to be lean, mean, and green! Don't cheat. Eat meat! Right? So when you're hungry behaviorally, do something else. Get busy. Make sure you aren't thirsty. Deep breathe. Do relaxation practices. Change things up. Do a puzzle. Color. Do something that engages you creatively rather than passively. Exercise. Take a walk. Drink water!!! Pound the Water down til you can't take another sip. Brush your teeth. Or drink black decaff coffee or decaff black tea unsweetened. NO sweets. Avoid sweets!!! Avoid sweet water, sweet Vitamins, fruit, ANYTHING sweet for now.
If you are wanting to eat at night, then consider adding a small mini meal. Make it only Protein and a tiny bit of healthy fat. Or do a Protein Drink (yes, sigh, they're sweet. that's a b***h.) Eat a hard boiled egg. My rule during WLM was if I wanted to eat I got to eat a hard boiled egg, or a tuna pouch in water, or an ounce of turkey lunch meat rolled up, or a light string cheese. And if I didn't want any of those, then it was head hunger, not real hunger. And my rule was: I don't feed head hunger, that's what got me to the Obesity Ball.
Hope this helps. Nip it in the bud.
Once you hit maintenance you can set up a whole new set of rules to work with your pouch!

Hi everyone, I'm still adjusting to VSG surgery and will be one month post op this week. I've been having major sugar cravings since doing the low carb high Protein lifestyle. I've even had slip ups since graduating to phase 2 where I can have soft mushy foods and I've eaten sweets. Does anyone have suggestions for fighting these sugar cravings? I don't want to set myself back after coming this far on this journey. The cravings have only gotten worse since it's almost my time of the month and have been hitting the gym more often. They hit at night when it's time to rest.

Hahaha! Steal away! BDG Goal. It's a thing.
And I'm 57 and on a drug for breast cancer remission that shuts down my hormones into super-menopause. I still have lost about 155lbs. You can do this!

Hey. Well I'm only a month out and I'm having doubts on whether this would work because I gained 2 lbs at my 4 week doc appt this week. My first appt I was down 27 lbs. We did just have Thanksgiving but I can relate to the fear and panic. You've come so far in your journey it's inspiring and your just 8 months out. I started at about 334 before surgery and currently I'm at 305. In your case I don't think it's the end. Just stick with setting goals and you'll find a way to reach them like you've been doing.
