When I had my band, band revision, and eventual band removal I remember the pain in my shoulder. So not looking forward to that again 🥺

Glad you're doing relatively well! Like you, I'm doing better than I thought I might. No vomiting and I'm guessing the pain in my abdomen is gas, although I was told gas often settles around the shoulders. Trying to walk, walk, walk. I was the one bugging Nurses & Aides to walk. 😁 The staff was great and there were 3 fabulous Nursing students who helped me immensely.

I was able to come home from the hospital yesterday. The first day I was in horrible pain that was made worse by the fact that I started my period on surgery day and I tend to have bad periods. But after that first day, things improved a lot. I’m home after 2 nights and almost 1 additional day in the hospital, and I’m still pretty weak. But it’s nice not to be hungry.

I'm doing better than I thought I would. Spent 2 days in the hospital. But no nausea or throwing up. So I guess that's a win. The gas pains have subsided and I'm a little sore. How are you doing?

Doing pretty good- thanks for asking! Rough afternoon on the 4th but woke up at 4am on the 5th feeling a lot better. Still really sore but that's to be expected. Most difficult? No Water until Thursday afternoon!!! So, so happy the surgery is in the rear view mirror!!

That's good to hear! I like Water too. Hopefully that will go away- especially considering how much of it we have to drink! I'm up to bat tomorrow!

I had mine today. No pain, but I’ve been incredibly groggy all day. Water tastes terrible and I LIKE water! I’m just hoping it is the taste of the hospital’s water and when I get home it will be good again. I managed to get broth and some Jello down. Not really feeling a restriction though. Overall, it hasn’t been as hard as I expected it to be.
Good luck to all the folks in the future and I hope the folks who also had surgery today are doing well!

My surgery is on the 9th, and I’m on day 7, it definitely got better for me from day 4 on. I’ve lost 15 pounds in the 7 days though so I hope it’s doing all that it should. I have to admit it is still hard though, cooking for my family and not being able to eat as well stinks, but it will all be worth it, right!! We got this!

Good to hear the hunger got better for you! I'm also on Day 5 and still hungry but towing the line! Someone on this forum commented to another person who was struggling that 'we all went through it and you can too!' I keep that encouragement in mind. I have chronic Migraines and have had one since Day 1. Fortunately I had already given up my much loved Coke Zero and gotten through that or it may be worse. I'm so grateful that I only have 10 days to get through !! My surgery is November 4th so almost there!😃

    Wishing you much success!

Whether folks survived it or not it’s still really hard and we get to whine about it. Giving up coffee has been the worst!! I remember missing Diet Pepsi with my band years ago but it went away after a while and I never touched it again. I think I will have a harder time with straws. I sit here with my hydro flask and drink all day from the straw lid.

right now I’m a bit burnt out on sweet...protein drinks, Protein Water, jello...broth only gets you so far. But soon this part will be over.

you just have a few days to go! Sending you super positive thoughts! 🥰

I have a similar experience to share. I got the sleeve in 2013. About 1 year post op I hadn't reached my goal weight and decided to do a liquid only diet for 4 weeks. We all know liquid diets will result in weight loss. Three weeks in, I felt faint. I almost passed out a few times when going from sitting to standing. I lost my appetite and found no pleasure in anything I did. At this point I had lost 117 lbs. I convinced myself if weight loss was going to make me feel so bad, it wasn't worth it. I gradually let my diet slip and over the next few years gained 90 lbs.
This year I went in for a revision to DS. Again, I felt faint frequently. I fainted one time at home and woke up on the tile floor. This time I did some research and consulted my doctors. I attributed the light headedness to a combination of several things. Too much low blood pressure medicine, so we halved it twice. I assumed my blood sugar was low so I added more fruit to my diet. Restrictive diet with many artificial foods (shakes). It was time to advance to a soft food diet so I started eating a great variety of real food and dropped Protein Shakes completely. I needed more calories. Ketosis, I had a lot of rapid weight loss. At this stage the weight loss slowed a bit. Dehydration. I was doing a lot of outdoor home projects in the Summer. I wasn't getting enough Water.
I tested as much as I could individually and was able to rule out the blood pressure medicine. Even when I didn't take medicine for days, I was light headed. Even when I drank plenty of water for days, I was light headed all the time.
From my experience the second time around, I dealt with the problems and changed everything up until I found the right combination. I eat healthy meals, get plenty of food, and lose weight each month. Four months later, I'm no longer feeling light headed. Today I'm at my lowest weight in 20 years.
I know they call loss of satisfaction a form of depression. I never went to a psychiatrist. Maybe I should have but I don't feel I would get much benefit from them. My advice is to evaluate your nutrition plan and eliminate anything that isn't natural food. Natural sugars in fruit are better than anything with added sugars. Protein in lean meats is better than protein shakes or bars.

First, your pain and swelling worsening at this point is worth a call to your surgeon.

Second, pretty much everyone had some sort of pre-op diet, but there are huge variations from surgeon to surgeon, and even for different bmi’s. I had no energy on my 2 week pre-op diet (shakes and plain, low carb veggies only), but I did lose 15 pounds. I have had loads of energy since surgery and consider myself lucky for this.

I hope everyone here gets some energy back soon. It has literally been my favorite thing about having this surgery 3-ish months ago. I wish it for everyone here!

    Good luck!
