  1. I have no clue how to even handle this. The anesthesiologist did come up and apologize but I’m not able to shake all of this
  2. I know many of you were following my story after Cigna denied me twice and finally after peer review surgery was set for Monday, November 18th. However because my case was already challenging, why not throw a bit more into it right?! I started throwing up and having diarrhea/ stomach and chest pain Monday the 11th. I have been having trouble on and off since I had the fundoplication takedown, hernia repair, and my LINX device installed. This went on until Wednesday morning at 6am and had to be rushed to the hospital. It was there they determined after lots of tests that my wbc count was through the roof, I had heightened liver enzymes and an enlarged liver, blood in my urine, and the flow from the bottom of my gall bladder had stopped working. I have immediately admitted for surgery. When I asked how this would play into my sleeve surgery, they said theoretically they could do the gall bladder Thursday and then turn around Monday and sleeve me if I felt okay. I asked him if we could get it all over with at one time so I didn’t have to go through it again and after speaking with insurance they all agreed this would happen. So on Thursday I went in for a triple surgery- gall bladder removal, gastric sleeve, and LINX adjustment. Let me start by saying I am so grateful that it’s done. I’m supposed to be discharged later today (Saturday) so my stay here has def been longer. However during surgery, they didn’t give me enough sedative and I WOKE UP PARALYZED but could feel! I just couldn’t move. Had they done the gall bladder and waited on the sleeve I would have never gone back into surgery. I will say coming out of the surgery and that first night was awful. I heaved, I was in the most intense pain (keep in mind 3 surgeries), and I just didn’t think I was going to make it. I have been cruising right a long though. Increasing my walking here at the hospital, moving gas, drinking shakes and water with no problem and chicken broth never tasted so good. I am and have been ready for this step in my life and although this has been a rough way to get it done, I am ready to fight for my life and health. So just keep pushing on. If you take away anything from this mess it is that you got into this because change was NECESSARY, you have been putting in the work, and now it is on you to maintain the lifestyle. 3. I started this journey last spring. I did everything by the book but did not loose weight through the process. Part of it was I had to have a major surgery a couple months back before I was eligible for the sleeve. So going into the insurance submittal, I thought for sure that was what would hang me up. I got my first denial 3 days in. They said my surgeon wasn’t in network. However they sent me to his office and his partners in the same office were . That brought appeal 1. I was then denied again after 2 weeks. This time they said I didn’t qualify because I didn’t do all of the steps. Turns out some person at Cigna forgot to look at the whole packet of paperwork that held my nutrition visits, the extra steps, psych evaluation, etc etc etc. but because this was the 2nd denial, opening my case back up required a peer review appeal. I am happy to say as of this morning I am approved for surgery on Monday (18th)!! I have spent today going to appointment after appointment to last minute get things in. I am sitting in the room now for my ore admission counseling and all I can think is please God let there be no other hurdles! I am ready for this! I’ve prayed in this! Let’s do this!
