    Hi Heather~
I'm doing well and about seven months out now.. How are you doing with your weight loss? Mine has slowed down, although I am very happy with 72 lbs. that I have lost. I started to take measurements over the last few months, which helps in seeing inches lost when the scale doesn't always move.

I completely understand and BTW we have a support thread in the Sleeve section called the The Slow Losers club - for support. I feel the exact same way but i will say 90 lbs in 3 months isn't a realistic expectation. I dont know ANYONE who has lost that much weight that fast who started less than 300 lbs. Has the increased calories been working? Do you drink enough Water? I wish i had the answers because I have the exact same thoughts... its so hard to know others have lost twice as much in the same amount of time... I am here for you and hopefully one or both of us finds work arounds to help speed up our loss. People say stick to the plan, and we can and will and do but its much harder to stick to the plan when you're barely eating and dont lose weight. The payoff for all of the sacrifices IS the weight loss (thats why we did this in the first place!!!) so if you dont have have that- its very hard to stay the course and not wonder why you went this route in the first place. I do think there are a lot more slow losers than we think though... they just dont admit it out of shame and disappointment because we compare ourselves to normal or fast losers who get all of the glory and all of the satisfaction that this was the best decision they ever made.... Sending you hugs.

    Hey SL's
off scale victory. I started the elliptical yesterday (after 6 yrs). My goal was 10 mins and then I would walk for 30. Well I was ABLE to do 30 mins!

Now that I can do the elliptical, I am hoping to start losing more. I am satisfied with my current loss even though its slow. I have lost more inches than anything. I was a tight 22/24 and I can fit into an 18/20 and 22/24's are too baggy.

    Great thread btw!

Had a great day seeing my surgeon and checking in for my 3 months post op RNY.
My blood results were great all my Vitamin levels are good just my healthy cholesterol a little low so he said to start eating a little more food more fish and olive oil etc.
He said I've done amazingly to get from 322lbs(146kg) to 186lbs(84.4kg) in just 5 & 1/2 months.
I've shed 90% of my EBW; I'm about like 3lbs from "healthy bmi"
Surgeon said now to stop worrying about the numbers as much & to just concentrate on more variety in my diet and thinking long term.
if I stay at this weight it's perfectly fine if I lose a few more lbs that's great but to stop stressing so much about the lbs as I've done so well.
He said I'm in like the top 5% of all his patients results to lose 90% EBW
it was great to see his receptionists were shocked as was the surgeon when they saw me.
It felt good to get such great praise 😀
So that's my new philosophy to try more variety in my diet; I'll still check my weight each day but I won't stress so much about it
I've dropped 136lbs and dropped like 18 BMI points and multiple dress sizes all in just 5.5 months.
his other main point was to start building some kind of muscle tone coz I am looking kinda skin and bones at the moment Lol.
    first world problems 😀
I feel amazing like so much more energy everyday. I love seeing old friends for the first time in months and their reactions are great!
Now hopefully when I'm ready I'll be able to meet a nice young lady and start a beautiful family; that is my long term goal
Thanks to everyone on here for all your support!!

You are 100% correct - See my long post on how i crashed. It is hard and some take it harder, Just got help and get back on track, I did it was not easy and i will say there are times i get confused about my decision.
But look at it as i do .... We both would be dead shortly from some Fat Related disease, We both were not happy with our body/ and life sucked when we were unhealthy - So no way in hell now that we have busted our asses to get healthy are we letting a little mind games mess with us!
Game on Mind - I will win

There is transient depression as we heal. For no reason, you might wake up depressed, or have it descend upon you.
It's important to know it's temporary and has a physical derivation caused by fluctuating hormones released from your fat as you lose weight, or as a result of anesthesia and having someone inside you messing with your guts. (Your guts produce neurohormones that regulate mood.)
Hang in there. Deep breathe, drink LOTS of Water, do comedy therapy on Netflix, walk a LOT, get outside into sunshine and nature, hug someone hard for a long time! Smile to your reflection in the mirror, get enough sleep, eat your Protein and veg and all will be well in your world soon.

Average expected weight loss post surgery is 2-4lbs per week. I know it FEELS like you are losing slowly, but you are averaging 14lbs/mo and there are 4.33 weeks in a month: you actually at about the 75% percentile which is really really lovely!
Not trying to denegrate your perception. Cuz perception is real. But WE control our thoughts which then control our emotions. And my knowing that in reality you AREN'T a slow loser, would allow you to feel and understand the great progress you are making?
    I shared your angst too...

Totally agree, but I hope most of us are able to discern the information that is helpful vs the negativity from people who had bad experiences for one reason or another. It amazes me that some people will have WLS, thinking it is some sort of magic pill and that all their problems will go away if they lose weight. Then they are shocked and angry that there actually is some pain involved (it iS major surgery, after all), and that they actually have to do some work on their own. This is a major commitment to a lifestyle change. It should not be done on a whim. I am so glad my insurance required a 6 month period before surgery. It gave me time to really research the procedures, examine my own feelings and commitment, weigh the risks, and finally come to the decision that was right for me.
Remember, too, that everyone who has a negative experience wants the world to know. There are 98-99 people who have positive outcomes, compared to the 1-2% that have problems, but you don't hear as much from the 98%. I am in that 2% - I had blood clots in my legs and also developed an ulcer. But it was still the best decision I've ever made for my life and I wouldn't go back for anything.

Do you also track what you eat?
I find recording my daily weight (regardless if it's higher or lower than the previous recording) is useful to cross-reference with what I ate, how much Water I drank, how much I exercised, time-of-month or whatever if i feel the need to de-mystify weight changes and/or recognize trends.
...but that's just the anal nerd in me. I know this is not for everyone. LOL.

Hi everyone! I had my surgery on November 19 and have been doing well with following the food stages and losing weight. Between my pre-opt diet and the surgery I was down 29 lbs. I’m on stage 3 soft foods and within the last 2 days I have gone up a pound and half. Of course it’s upsetting but is this normal to fluctuate a little or am I doing something wrong?
