  1. This surgery has become overwhelming! I can’t find anything to eat, and each day I’m cooking 2 meals! One for me and one for my family. I run a business and really don’t have time. This has become too much for me. Can you share some meal ideas that me and my family can eat. Also I don’t meal prep past 2 days. After 2 days I throw it out. I have wasted so much money on food it’s ridiculous.

  2. Hi all! Well I’m slowly getting through this new phase in my life and becoming closer with Sleevie (my sleeve) everyday. Just need a little advice. I am about tired of Water because it tastes funny. I use to love water and now I can only drink about 8oz before it starts tasting funny. What type of juice can we have? Also as far as food it seems I can only tolerate ground beef and shrimp. I haven’t tried too much just yet. I don’t do Protein Shakes instead I eat my Protein. My go to meals now are eggs, bacon, mini meatloafs, and chip less nachos. Please I need more meal options. Thanks you. I wish I could have some fruit!

If you have access you may want to consider seeing a therapist our emotional relationships with food don’t end because of the surgery it’s a real struggle

I’m sorry this has nothing to do with emotional eating. I have just recently had surgery. I couldn’t get anything down. However thanks to some fantastic people with their helpful insight I am trying different things! Thanks

Protein is very important..not only does it help your body heal it also helps build muscle and not let your body turn to skin and bones not to mention the added amino acids in most decent protein..

And Vitamins are taken daily because you will struggle to get enough from food early on... I've been taking chewable Multivitamin I got from the hospital since day 3..feeling good now 2 weeks out...

I also disagree with choosing to only follow what rules you like..this surgery is hard on the body and I don't see why you would get surgery Just to sabotage yourself by heading down the slippery slope of cheating....

Everybody says oh I'll only have one cheat meal.. One turns into 2 and into 5...then you'll complain in 6 months why didn't I lose much????

Thank you for your support. However not once did I state that I cheated! My tastebuds changed drastically after the surgery towards the Protein Shakes (Unjury & Premier) and I can’t find any Protein that won’t make my tummy hurt. Can you suggest something different?

    I’m sorry that you’re hurting
    I’m sorry that you’re struggling
I am going to call you out though for lashing out very rudely.
Whether you like the advice or not, someone took time out to give a response.
Yes, maybe the wording was a bit harsh, but please take the message and go back to all of the months of physical and psychological prep that went into this.
There are many of us here from decades-long veterans to those surgeried just in the last few weeks that can help.

The first 2 weeks are the absolute worst. Your body is tired, your mind is tired and everything is dramatically different. However, I haven’t heard of a single weight loss patient who didn’t know this going in, so refer to your action plan and work the plan.

    Drink
    Protein Shakes (if possible)
    Vitamins
    Rest
Work with your NUT and bariatric clinic. They don’t disappear after surgery, they are there and want you to succeed.

For the first 8 days post-op, I “consumed” a total of 800 calories. For 8 days.
Didn’t hit a single Protein goal ANY of those days. Emailed my NUT panicked 3 times that week bc I couldn’t hold in anything thicker than Water.
Her advice was to relax and not stress too much about the Protein as long as the Water happened. She was right and within 2 more weeks I finally hit my first protein goal. It took me 3 weeks after surgery to do that, so you’re still good.

It won’t always be easy, but life changing measures seldom come easily.

    Thank you!!

Don't worry about it, we seem to get trolls around here that complain a lot. Yes, some people have issues but if you're mentally prepared you'll do fine!

No one or nothing can prepare you for what’s to come. You just have to go through it. I only spoke my mind and if you can not offer positive support, go on to the next post. It’s simple.

Sorry you are struggling. Many of us had buyer’s remorse right after surgery. This is a big adjustment.

Your new stomach is healing. At first, it’s hard to get your Protein and Water in. It gets easier over time. Hunger is real in the first stages. I was angry about seeing food commercials and anyone eating real food around me. Hunger is more manageable as you progress to real food.

    Congratulations on your surgery.

I will be glad when I progress to real food. Right now it’s just horrible.
