These post are permanent and the Internet never forgets...
I'm still not sure who exactly this cautionary tale is for? Spouses of patients? Surely not the patients here who knowing their pitfalls decide to work on them. have done their research and rigorously pass all evaluations.
    We. Are. Prepared.
Frankly, if your spouse had heart or knee surgery with complications and fell into the well of addiction and depression, you likely would not be on forums for that type of support saying you hate cardiothoracic or orthopaedic surgery.
Perhaps the better cautionary tales :
Life is like castles built in the sand
    You never truly know someone
    Divorce is possible
Otherwise your monologues are falling on deaf, but well informed, ears
    good day.

Ugh. I know how you feel. You are still moving and making progress. It's just a speed bump but you will still get it done. I have to wait till mid February too. I plan on staying busy, decluttering and organizing my whole house and hopefully the time will go by quickly. We'll get there!

Puffy-no-more got a reaction from Mimiwumba in Cigna Approval in GA
I do not have that insurance but my insurance company was the same way. One person said they required it, the next said they didn't. I finally pulled up the policy online and found they had revised the requirements on what was mandatory the month prior. When I called them back and quoted the policy to them, they said that information had not reached their office yet but that it was "probably" accurate. So my doctor's office decided to send in a prior authorization just to see what they would say. It got approved in 4 days.
I said all that to say that maybe you should just try the prior authorization. My surgeon's office said that if it gets denied, they will send specific requirements that you need and thAt will be the most accurate information you will be able to get on it because it's not coming from a customer representative but rather someone who actually approves or denies based on the info.
    Good luck!

Puffy-no-more got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in Why did you choose the surgery you had/will have?
I chose gastric bypass for a couple reasons.
I know everyone doesn't get it, but I feel like the dumping syndrome Would be a help to me long term to stay on track just in case I considered straying a little.
And second, I know this isn't everyone but I've seen alot of stories of people needing to get the revision from sleeve to bypass and I don't want to have to go through this again.
Like everyone else said, talk it over with your doc. He/she will be able to help you come to a decision.

So what is yall's Pre-op diet? I feel like mine is weird. They just said low cal, low carb, and high Protein for 10 days prior and nothing to eat or drink after midnight the day of. I just think it's weird cause almost everyone else has to do some sort of liquid diet prior to surgery.

@Aodhanmom that's exciting!! I'm in Kansas! I'm soooo excited. My insurance kept telling me I would need to do the whole 6 month diet thing but it had been removed from their policy that was just revised so my surgeon office decided to just send in the prior authorization just to see what they would say. I'm so pumped and ready for this new life!!!!

I found out yesterday I got insurance approval! And I just got a date! February 19th. But I have a question. My surgeon's office let me know what I have to pay them for the surgery but it's only to cover the cost of the surgeon and the assistant surgeon and it has to be paid at my pre-op appointment. But they don't know what I will owe for the hospital, anesthesiologist, and pathology. Nor do they know when I will need to pay it? Do y'all know if this is something they bill later like normal stuff or what?

I am kind of new here and a little on the shy side but this is so amazing. Thank you for sharing this! I have not had surgery yet but am looking forward to the day when I can get rid of clothes that are too big this time instead of giving away clothes that are too little for me cause I’ve gotten too big.
    enjoy shopping!!
