  1. I chose gastric bypass for a couple reasons. I know everyone doesn't get it, but I feel like the dumping syndrome Would be a help to me long term to stay on track just in case I considered straying a little. And second, I know this isn't everyone but I've seen alot of stories of people needing to get the revision from sleeve to bypass and I don't want to have to go through this again. Like everyone else said, talk it over with your doc. He/she will be able to help you come to a decision.

    February Surgery ?

Okay that's neat. I'm just doing alot of research to figure out what I'm going to do for post op with the shakes and broths and powders and best brands and all that. There's so much out there.

    February Surgery ?

So what is yall's Pre-op diet? I feel like mine is weird. They just said low cal, low carb, and high protein for 10 days prior and nothing to eat or drink after midnight the day of. I just think it's weird cause almost everyone else has to do some sort of liquid diet prior to surgery.

@Likklelime I'm on the 19th too! I'm sure you will pick the best one for you with the help of your team.

    February Surgery ?

@blette that's my date too!! I'm so excited. What kind of pre op diet do you have to do?
  7. Hey everyone. So I was notified today that my insurance approved my surgery!! I got an email From my surgeons office telling me what I would owe their office and of course that it would need to be paid at my pre-op appointment. She said that the fees from the hospital, anesthesiologist, and pathology would all come from the hospital and that they would be in contact. I haven't heard from them yet but I called my insurance and they told me that according to my benefits, everything at the hospital would be covered in full by insurance and that the money I owe to the surgeon's office is basically my deductible for the plan year. Soooo my question, since I have a bad habit of always assuming the worst, if my insurance is incorrect, does the hospital require their payment up front as well or does that get billed after the whole ordeal? I just want to make sure I've got all my Financial stuff good to go.....

    February Surgery ?

@Aodhanmom that's exciting!! I'm in Kansas! I'm soooo excited. My insurance kept telling me I would need to do the whole 6 month diet thing but it had been removed from their policy that was just revised so my surgeon office decided to just send in the prior authorization just to see what they would say. I'm so pumped and ready for this new life!!!!
  9. Ok yeah that makes sense. I suppose I will just need to be patient and wait to hear from them......
  10. So the hospital wanted sort of a down payment?

    February Surgery ?

I found out yesterday I got insurance approval! And I just got a date! February 19th. But I have a question. My surgeon's office let me know what I have to pay them for the surgery but it's only to cover the cost of the surgeon and the assistant surgeon and it has to be paid at my pre-op appointment. But they don't know what I will owe for the hospital, anesthesiologist, and pathology. Nor do they know when I will need to pay it? Do y'all know if this is something they bill later like normal stuff or what?

    Officially in Wonderland!

    You look amazing!
  14. I am kind of new here and a little on the shy side but this is so amazing. Thank you for sharing this! I have not had surgery yet but am looking forward to the day when I can get rid of clothes that are too big this time instead of giving away clothes that are too little for me cause I’ve gotten too big. enjoy shopping!!
  15. @Chris NH yes! I found that out the hard way as well. I didn’t go through the whole program with them but had to change to a different doctor because of the COE. I also have to do the psych eval for insurance and that is scheduled for next week.
  16. @Chris NH thank you! I did not realize that they had a specific customer service team for this. I did meet with my surgeon’s office and they did confirm that they just revised the requirements and that it is no longer 6 months but that they would not give her a specific amount of time. She said basically for me to do 2 months followed by my physician and then they will send in the prior auth and see what they say. But I’m going to call back tomorrow and see if I can get the bariatric team and try to get a specific answer. thank you again for your help!
  17. Ok makes sense @SorryNameTaken. My surgeon's office actually called me about an hour ago verifying insurance so they can have all the information available for my appointment on Monday. I guess I'll find out then. Thanks for your help!
  18. Ok thank you. I reached back out to my insurance company because what I was seeing was that the requirements had been revised in October and they had removed the 6 month requirement. The person I talked to looked deeper into it and told me that they hadn't received that update but could see it online? I don't know. It doesn't make sense to me. My appointment with the surgeon is Monday so I'm hoping to find out more then.
  19. Hello! I am hoping for a December/January surgery date. I meet the surgeon this coming Monday but I have already completed all of my insurance requirements. I might be crazy in thinking I could have the surgery scheduled for the next month or two but I’m hoping!
