    February Surgery ?

It’s good to hear you are feeling better. And it’s good to hear the drinking gets easier. I was wondering how long it would be such a struggle to get fluids down. So would you say it took about 5 days to really get to feeling good?

    February Surgery ?

So my surgeon’s office just back with me. They said it’s most likely from the diet. They said if I want to take Imodium, I can but that the diarrhea won’t effect surgery and to just stay hydrated. So I guess that’s that. Lol. Thank y’all for your help.

    Pre op surgery

What kind of diet are you on? Is it clear liquid only! It all depends on what your surgeon’s requirements are. BTW, I’m scheduled for the 19th as well!

    February Surgery ?

@DB in AZ ok. I will give them a call. It’s late in the day so not sure if I will hear back today but maybe Monday. I am doing so much better regarding my caffeine withdrawal. I honestly feel amazing and it’s so empowering to know that I’m not dependent on that anymore. @ResaRoo I’m going to check if there is a way to get more fiber in with my diet. I need to do some research in food labels. Lol

    February Surgery ?

Hey everyone I have a question. Probably TMI so I apologize in advance. I’m on day 6 of my 10 day pre-op diet. It’s not liquids only like others. I can have a certain amount of fruit, yogurt and sandwich meat per day for each meal. I can also have unlimited amounts of foods like pickles, celery, cucumbers and so on. But y’all, I have had straight diarrhea for the past several days. Did anyone else experience this? I don’t feel sick to my stomach but I have diarrhea several times a day. Just wondering if this is a normal thing.

That’s the same with me. Just clear liquids for one week and then the next week I start full liquids and start working on protein.

@lisafrommassachusetts it’s good to hear you are doing ok. I’m not a veteran yet so can’t answer any of your questions but I’m also wondering how long until it’s not such a struggle to get water in. I’m not even there yet but can only imagine!

    United Healthcare History/Requirements

So I have UHC choice plus. They told me over the phone that they required the 5 year weight history, 6 month diet visits and so on. But I went and looked at the policy online and saw that they had revised their policy and guidelines at the end of the year this past year. In the revised policy, there was no 6 month diet needed and no mention of the 5 year history. So I called again to verify that and they told me no, that I needed the 6 months diets and blah blah blah. So..... I saw my surgeon for the first time to get this all started on dec 27. The nurse told me she would just send in for the prior auth and see what they came back with. When she sent in for the prior auth, all she had was my 1 office visit with them, my psych eval and that was it! I got approved in 4 days. Yes, it has to be at a center of excellence facility and you do have to have a psych eval, but @momotrips3 and @Deemarie1221 I would strongly recommend requesting they just send in the prior auth once you have those. At least they will tell you for sure sure what they need for approval. the nurse at my surgeon’s office told me that sometimes policy changes and that new info doesn’t get passed down to all of the customer service representatives but the people who are actually approving or denying should know what they are doing. anyways This is just my experience and hope this helps!

    February Surgery ?

That’s awesome. I know! I feel like once I started this diet that I’m becoming very impatient. I’m trying to stay busy and hope this time passes quickly. I can’t complain though because @lisafrommassachusetts had hers scheduled and then had to reschedule for a week another out due to being sick. But she kept at it. That takes work and commitment!

    February Surgery ?

Hey @DB in AZ I’m Glad to hear you are doing so well. I’m doing good. I have a 10 day pre-op diet so I just started on Sunday. I can have some foods but mostly yogurt, a little fruit, 3 oz of fat free deli meat, and protein shakes. I was a very heavy Pepsi drinker (like that is all I drank throughout the day) so I knew the caffeine withdrawal would be wicked and it was. Sunday night and yesterday, I felt really bad but I am feeling great today. I’m not hungry after eating the little bit that I’m allowed. I felt like the time was flying until I started my pre-op. Now it seems to be dragging a little lol but we’ll get there. And I agree. This forum has been really great!

@niffer I agree. This group is wonderful! And I know I wouldn’t feel so horrible normally but it’s the severe caffeine withdrawal for me that’s kicking my butt. From everything I’ve read, I should be feeling better by tomorrow. I’m so excited and ready to get this show on the road!!

Congratulations to everyone who has already gone! It’s so great to read your updates and be able to know what’s ahead for us who still have to go. I’m on day 2 of my 10 day pre-op diet. And I’m not going to complain. Yes I feel horrible but......I feel for those who have to be on liquids the whole time. I am able to have a little food on my diet so I don’t feel like I can really complain lol good luck everybody! We’re doing this!!!!
