I think we should be clearer on these boards about Hair loss.
Almost every post about hair loss has said to make sure you get your Protein and Vitamins (yes, we all should be getting our protein and vitamins), but this isn't the sole cause of the hair loss. It can certainly be exacerbated by not getting in your protein or vitamins.
From the start, I have been able to get all my protein in, Water, and swallow pills. I have lost about 40-50% of my hair. Thank goodness I have a lot of hair, but it is still noticeable to me. I am really annoyed by it because it's growing back....but it's coming in all weird, and it's full of static right now too. It's probably going to take about another year for my hair to return to normal.
My point is, the stress of a 'traumatic' surgery on the body, coupled with massive hormone changes with this type of surgery is a big contributing factor to the hair loss. I spent a lot of months thinking it was my protein intake and that hasn't been the cause. I just want others to realize that it doesn't solely come down to protein.

canadianpopcycle got a reaction from SleeveToBypass2023 in How much calcium??
    Hello!
My requirement is 1200; however, I have to factor in any Calcium I get as well. So I always have a Decaf Earl Grey Latte in the morning (1 cup of Milk), I have 2/3 cup of fairlife milk at Breakfast making my oatmeal, plus I have yogurt and cheese at lunch. So I only ever take 1 300mg Tablet because I get so much during the day. Just make sure you take it 2 hour before or after your multivitamin....Calcium and Iron don't get along
    Hope that helps!

canadianpopcycle got a reaction from SleeverSk in Blah...my first stall...
Ah yes, the infamous 3 week stall.
I started just thinking of my body 're calibrating' and moving a smidge of fat from here to here, and moving more energy over there. I found that helped a lot with the mental energy worrying about the stall, thinking I had done something wrong, being catastrophic about it etc lol.
I am a just over a year out...and I spend most of the month stalled lol then I lose. So I just think of my body needing a minute to figure out what to do next and get organized and it halts ALL PRODUCTION until it sorts itself out again and starts losing.
    Hope that helps!

    A week.
I eventually had to take something to get it moving along.
After that, I guess I am one of the 'lucky' ones! I go everyday/every second day and I don't take anything for it.

    Hi!
I had my heart set on the sleeve as well. However, my gerd started getting worse and worse, and I thought...I can't logically get the sleeve and have my Gerd worse. I was afraid that getting my intestines all re-routed....and I was super afraid of the malabsorption.
I'm really happy with my Bypass. I have had no complications, and I am still losing...and I am a bit over a year. I did some research on the malabsorption aspect of the bypass, and it sounds like it's not really a malabsorption in the truest medical sense. There are tons of great scholarly articles on the internet that can help with some of the myths of WLS. Have you met with a surgeon yet? They would also be able to help with some of your questions and fears on the medical side of it. Is there something is particular that makes you feel uneasy with Bypass?

It's so funny....I didn't get the pain everyone talks about....around the neck/shoulders/side. I had gas just inside....the pain was right above my bellybutton. Walking didn't do anything....it wasn't until I was at home and could just pass gas that I felt way better! That was day 2-3 for me.
    Hope you feel better soon!
