    I don't want to/forget to eat

But I am only 7 weeks out and my Drs office said I should be between 500-700 per day. I emailed my Dr about this today in fact and he suggested being at 500 every day - sigh - so i am really confused especially since my bariatric nutritionist said 1300. I see so many conflicting pieces of information about this...
  3. what do you do for your pure protein bomb to get to 44 grams? Also now that it has been some time how do you like 20:4. did it work for you?

    I don't want to/forget to eat

AJ- I have been curious about fasting post VSG. how long did you wait post VSG to do you first fast and did you just do water or did you do IF? And for how long? I am low calories (average 500) and yet i still do NOT lose weight and i am wondering if fasting would help move things along. To lose the weight prior to surgery (so I would get approved) I did OMAD and i lost more on that than i have post surgery, which is nuts to me. I ate what I wanted but mostly salad with a protein (on and i would have coffee with almond milk in AM so not 100% strick fast) and i ate within a 1-3 hr window depending on how crazy work was that day and i Lost weight quickly. I have been interested in going back to that but i can't find anyone talking about OMAD or fasting after VSG. I would love to know more about your experience if you would share AJ. You mention shakes... would you say in average you fast and do not eat many days of the week and then occasionally you do two shakes a day? Am i reading that correctly? And so on shake days you get in about 320 cals a day?
  6. This is very interesting- many all of you are saying Proteins shouldnt be "too high" and perhaps getting in more calories... This week i have been experimenting going lower... so 400-500 cals and I'll see how that pans out... but might I ask, how often and how much do you workout a day? Because if you do say 1hr of cardio every single day then definitely that would need more calories and even carbs esp if its on top of a job where you move a lot (vs sit all day). After this week i think I might just up my calories to see if anything moves... my body is stubborn as a mule and i just want to figure out what it will take to let the weight go. I hate to do too much dairy but the fact is to get off of the shakes I am going to have to. I am trying to find fish i can stomach...

    Whole Food Plant Based Eating

do you find your weight loss is working well in a plant based diet and that you get in enough protein but not too many carbs?

    Advice needed

Yes youre period can get wake because you are on such restricted calories. I am six weeks out and i haven't had a period yet... I know it s because my body is in shock and on extremely low calories and having Endometriosis doesnt help. but it IS normal. Think about how anorexics lose their periods. its because they calories are so low. Same thing here.
  9. I have and had the same exact thing. its totally normal. I still have t around some of my incisions and its been 6 weeks. My bruises heal slowly...
  10. I think No one is the norm since everyones body is different and i think we can all learn from each other, so I for one love your feedback. I do hope you start to feel better soon and that maybe the weightloss will help your chronic illness? is that a possibility? I always like seeing what other people eat because honestly i get ideas for things to eat since i am so restricted (i dont eat meat) and picky in what i can eat.
  11. I too have Endo and i am so sorry for what you have gone through, bec it blows. How long have you been on just 300-400 calories? That seems excessively low and do you mind me asking, what do you eat to get up to 60 grams of protein when you can consume so few calories? I had no idea protein turns to glucose? I swear i learn more on these boards than i ever did from ANY of my Drs ever...
  12. This is all really informative actually and I like the cold hard facts so thank you but this is the first time ever i have heard that protein shakes were making you gain weight? How? You mean Like Premier Protein type shakes that have 1 gram of sugar? Im an occasional pescatarian but mostly vegetarian bec I dont ever eat meat so i rely on shakes to get in all of my protein but i am fascinated by the fact that shakes can make you gain. did you test your blood sugar after drinking them? how did you discover this? Its hard enough for me to get in protein but god if i cant have at least one shake a day I am boned. Theres only so many eggs a girl can eat.
  13. SCREAM TO THE ROOFTOPS... I sure do. I BLOWS and yes i totally get it. Its like well if its just going to come off this slow why the heck did i do this to myself because i can stay the same exact weight and and eat fries and pasta se veal times a week and stay the exact same weight so its mind-blowing to eat 500-600 calories and stay the EXACT same weight. it slick what the cruel hell is this life....so yeah. B*thch as much as you want its better than holding it in and better than eating your feelings which won't do either if us any good. Ill let you know if any of my "experiments work" like one week getting in a gallon of water a day.... and then one week maybe try an all day fast...? maybe that will work... Im open to suggestions and yeah it is NOT FAIR. I have even though maybe I should have gotten RNY or the bypass but this could have happened with that too and then id be REALLY PISSED. lol... To be fair i think with your loss you are still "average" in weight loss and i think there are a bunch of us like that but we dont post our losses like the people who lose 8lbs every week, ya know what I mean? But its BS when people try to say tweak your callers because how low can you go when you're averaging 500-700 to begin with.

    Hair Loss / Renewal?

Im not as far into my journey BUT i have been taking this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FJQ32BG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and my hair has grown in inch in a month which is nuts. I started taking it as soon as possible in the hopes it prevents too much shedding and my nails and hair are growing insanely quickly. I know having high protein helps too, like being in the 90 range or above... but try the liquid biotin.
  15. Girl I hear ya its a mind F&ck for sure. Its fantastic to lose 51 pounds so first of all that is awesome and CONGRATS but i do understand how frustrating it is to see others get to goal and lose over 100lbs in 6 months - its like WHAT????? Its super demoralizing to eat 500-600 cals a day and track macros and drink all of your water and still barely lose a pound a week. I wish i had words of wisdom but maybe the notion that you are not alone will help? Its NOT JUST YOU but it doesnt change the fact that the struggle is super real when youre thinking to yourself, "so i cut out 80% of my stomach,i eat 20 carbs a day (which for most people even without surgery they would lose enormous amounts of weight in ketosis alone) and yet youre calories in and out dont add up to weight loss. NOT FAIR" I for one would be happy to know ANY advice or eating tips or what have you from other peeps in our boat that found a way to get the scale to move. Maybe its to go up in thyroid meds, I have even thought of using progesterone creams bec with PCOS we are estrogen heavy... I dunno but whatever it is, I will do it. I didnt come this far only to come this far. I have tried cycleing calories... super low cal days like 300-400 to higher days around 700 (but most people lose tons of weight on 700) and i workout every single day. Ill let you know if i find the magic solution but im using this time to experiment a bit while still staying on plan. Hang in there... youre not alone but yes its okay to mourn the bum rap we got because I at times have followed the exact same diet of other posters who lose 5lbs a week and the scale will go down .8lbs and its infuriating... stay the course though. I also tell myself that perhaps the slow weight loss will mean our skin has more time to tighten and not be as flabby....try to find the small silver lining.
  16. This sucks but I always try to remind myself that the universe/ God has a bigger plan than i do and to trust that the date change is for your ultimate best good. It might give you more time to emotionally prepare for this journey... right now it seems like it sucks but I bet in hindsight you'll be so happy it happens when it happens. Best of luck...

    Hunger?

wow that must be tough bec the thing that keeps most of us going is not feeling hungry. I have heard that some folks have stomach grows but its actually acid reflux in their tummy? Question with the stomach growls do you also get the brain signal that makes you hangry and it says eat eat eat? Maybe when the Drs did your surgery they didnt get all of the Ghrelin(sp) so you still feel hunger although i know after while some people do get those pangs back.... I wish i had good advice to give you but i do know that before surgery and after when i eat protein first- i fill up way faster and even with a couple of bites my tummy would stop growling. Hang in there.... you can do this.
  18. Great Job Zahara and congrats. I know its hard because we see others who have the surgery doing the exact same eating as us and yet they lost 4-6lbs every single week, week after week and it gets discouraging. But its true without surgery none of us would lose 70 lbs in 10 months... so it is working but its a daily struggle - for me anyway- not to see others who lose what i should be losing and i am not. On average according to my watch i burn 3500ish calories in a day (including my RMR) and i eat around 600. so i am at a 2900 cal deficit a day! which means i should be losing 6 lbs a week. I am lucky if i lose 2. talk about a mindBLEEP. but this thread is so helpful a reminder that 2 lbs is still 2 pounds and in a year thats over 100lbs.. keep up the great work.

    September 2019 🍂🍁

I had the same surgery date and i find at times i get EXHAUSTED. I feel fine and then workout and then BAM- sooo tired. I guess at 6 weeks we are still healing? Congrats on your progress. I haven't tried many foods- im scared. lol.

    I feel discouraged.

yeah I'm an occasional pescatarian and im having hard time even handling that- i dont eat meat at all - so im stuck with dairy protein...and shakes.I appreciate your feedback so much btw- its super helpful.
  21. Serengirl

    I feel discouraged.

This is awesome thank you so much!!!! So it looks like you wouldn't do full shakes you would do partial ones? Also do you use a food scale?
