  1. Hi there Everyone! I am due Feb. 10th with a boy. I already have a three year old little girl, so we are very excited to have one of each. I've gained about ten pounds so far, which is definitely hard on the ol' ego after working so hard to lose all that weight, but I know it's for a good cause and the band will help me lose it afterwards! Let's all stay in touch!

  2. Thank you for your response...I did leave my surgeon a message on his cell phone today, so I'm just waiting for him to give me a call. I had just the broth from wonton Soup for lunch today and that didn't cause me any pain, so that was nice...but still feeling a little indigestion.

I'll be curious what he says I should do...I guess it could be very possible I need a slight unfill. I'll let you know what happens!

  3. I posted this on the complications forum, but no one has made any comments on it...so I posted here as well...

Over about the last three days, when I eat my stomach just feels irritated. It does not feel irritated when I'm not eating, although I feel a little bit of reflux in the back of my throat, which I never have. Is it possible I've irritated my stomach lining around the band or something?

Should I go on liquids for a few days to let my stomach calm down?

I will also call and leave my surgeon a message and see what he can tell me as well.

  4. I will admit that I had my assistant, on her way back from her lunch, stop at a local 7-11 convenience store and get me a small cola flavored icee (about 12 oz). It's just the cola flavor, no carbonation. I drank about 1/2. I didn't want to drink anymore due to the calories. But I don't want to do that too often as it's too many calories in a liquid. However, it scratched my itch, for today!

I too, not long after surgery thought a Slurpee was a safe way to get that Cola flavor in, then I read the nutrition information about Slurpee's online...and they ARE carbonated. So just be careful with them!

  6. Hey Everyone! I just finished day 10 of the 30 Day Shred, and I definitely feel stronger and it's not feeling quite as hard. But don't get me wrong...it's still definitely hard! I haven't done all ten days in a row, I've spaced out a few days off evenly throughout that time.

I bought the DVD at Target for $9. Pretty good deal if you ask me! I'll keep you posted as I continue with the program!

Oh, and Jillian is tough, but now "scary!" She makes you work hard for those 20 minutes...but in the end you have to realize it's only 20 minutes and anyone can do that!

  7. I am on Day 5 of Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's only a 20 minute workout, but it kicks a$$! Even after only 5 days I feel stronger. I am alternating right now between Level 1 and Level 2 just to vary it up.

Anyone else doing this program? Anyone who has made it through 30 Days who can report their results?

  8. I think most of us totally understand this concept. I definitely am addicted to carbohydrates. I could eat nachos everyday! I realized I have to eat low carb to stay in control of what I eat, or I literally have no control. The band has been a tool for Portion Control, but it doesn't make my food choices for me (well...it helps a little).

WLS is definitely NOT the easy way out! We still have to work for it!

  9. I wear kind of tight exercise pants that sort of feel like they hold some "stuff" in...but I totally understand the feeling! I take boot camp classes and I have to hold down the "girls" with my arms when we do jumping jacks...otherwise I'd get black eyes!

  10. I think they typically call this stage "bandster hell." It's when you start feeling better from surgery and the swelling has subsided and your appetite returns. I've heard some people even gain weight before their first fill. I kind of had a delayed bandster hell...didn't get my first fill until three months out from surgery, but those couple of weeks before my fill I could a lot more and was hungry pretty quickly. Now after my fill I had chocolate milk yesterday and it filled me up all day! Crazy!

  11. I try not to worry about it too much one way or the other. Usually the tests they do with artificial sweetener on lab rats is ridiculous because they feed the rats, like, their body weight in artificial sweetener in a very short period of time. No wonder they get sick!

I think anything in moderation is the key!

  12. Hello my name is Valory andi go to my first seminar on 9-9-09 and have just one question if the band is not inflated when you get the operation then how are you losing weight before your first fill

Most people do not have a fill in their band until several weeks after surgery. I did not get one until over three months out from surgery. The restriction from just the band really made me eat a LOT less. Over time I started to be able to eat more, but still way less than I used to. So that's when I got my first fill...so back to eating very little. It's SO worth it! Best thing I ever did!

  13. Thanks for the number! And in terms of an emergency, Dr. Chae did give me his cell phone number when i had my very first consult with him, I think it's in my other purse, so I'll have to get back to you with that. Although I do think Susie on her voicemail greeting does leave a number for urgent calls, so I will check to see if they are the same number or not. Anyways, I will look for his cell for you.

Congrats on your hard work, it's nice to see the pounds melt away, huh? I got so used to losing weight since I got surgery that the last two weeks of no loss (and as I said before, actually UP a little now...grrr) is making me anxious. So I will definitely call Pam first thing tomorrow to set up my first fill. Thanks for your help!

    Talk to you all soon!
