    Fear of Failure

I lost 150 lbs and gained back 70 lbs. due to living with someone and having no control over the food brought into the house. I lost 30 from that regain by moving alone and regained 10 lbs. I am right now trying to just not gain weight. I am using a calorie app and trying to be more mindful.

    MyFitPal Premium subscription

I am using a free app called Loseit. It works better on my iPhone than My FitnessPal and has lots more foods calories listed. I highly recommend it.

I Lost My WLS Super Powers

Thank you for the reminder. I hope the newbies take note. I had a weight gain due to moving in with my Mom to take care of her. I gained seventy lbs. I have lost forty but am struggling with the thirty left before I make it back to 200 lb. I lost the forty just by moving out of my mom's house away from all her goodies. This last thirty is a killer. I have a lot of issues surrounding food. And dieting often exacerbates them. It tends to be a trigger for me. So how do I diet with out dieting is my constant struggle. The newbie should not be scared away they just need to take note that the struggle isn't over just because you lost the weight. I so wish it had.

    Wind issues

You may be eating too quickly. Give your self 20 minutes to eat your small meals. Stretch it out and chew to a paste. I hope this helps.

    Finding the new me

Wow AZhiker you have so succinctly and eloquently described the mental pain of being obese. I never gotten thin but I try to go against my emotional reaction to withdraw but it is very difficult. People don't see me or don't want to see me. but It try to get out of my own head.

    No loss yet

If you are working out hard, you may be adding muscle and this could be what your scale is telling you.

    no clue what to do

This seems odd to me. I switched to BCBS in order to get this surgery. Mine is out of Illinois. Try another call. Maybe you will get another answer. Is there any way you can switch to another insurance? Where I work we have two alternatives Aetna and BCBS. but then I work for a large multinational. Definitely get your docs team to call they should be very helpful in this if they want to get paid.
  14. Wow! I don't have any constructive advice. I live alone and always have. But you need to do what is going to give you a healthy and happy life. He may be right but he doesn't have a crystal ball. the future is going to unfold with you in a better place healthwise. commit to that.
  15. I had a revision from gastric bypass. Only my surgeon went the other way he gave me a sleeve and did a SIPS a kind of mini Duodenal switch. Unfortunately, it didn't help me lose any weight. It wasn't a total loss I no longer have diarrhea. But I was in tremendous pain. Good luck with your plan but remember its what you put in your mouth more than anything that determines weight loss. A lots of these people who are successful are on very low calorie diets and stick to them. I thought I could get the magic bullet again by have my intestines operated on again. but it didn't work for me. Right now I am trying optifast. and so it goes...

    “Silent” GERD!!!

I feel for you. I had terrible gerd and it caused ulcers in my esophagus. but when I had my hernia operated on it went away. Now I have the occasional gerd due to a change from gastric bypass to DS Sips, the switch from pouch to sleeve. Probably you had it going the other way. I take a daily Nexium. Which works well for me. I hope you get better soon.

    10 months out bathroom problems?

You could have the other problem. I had diarrhea running down my leg when I was several years out. Probably too much something in my diet. but I had a revision and BOOM! I now get constipated instead. LOL You just did something major to your gastrointestinal system. I think everyone has some kind of issue. I hope you find something to help you. Maybe a little more fat in your diet as well as extra fiber and water. I am not saying a lot. Just a smidge.

    Hit a rough patch

Thanks for that comprehensive examination of how you lost your weight and kept it off Greater Fool. My problem is distraction. I don't have enough of it. Any suggestions of distractions would be greatly appreciated. Maybe something will spark a fire under me. I hate exercising too. I am definitely going to get some sugar free popsicles.
  21. Try Premier Protein it comes in a Mango flavor that is not a shake. It is like a juice.

    Not hungry just very thirsty

You can have water just sip it. Which surgery did you have? I was very excited to be losing weight. I had a gastric bypass initially and with that or Duodenal switch you are guaranteed to lose for the first year.

How do you know you are ready

Wow It sounds like you have got a lot going on. No one would blame you if you pushed the surgery back. Talk to the person who sets your surgeon's schedule. I am sure she will work with you and good luck with your studies.
