smaller_sav got a reaction from Iamtspeaks in Sept surgery people
Sept. 16th and two week pre-op liver shrinking diet started Monday, 09/01. I was a little mentally unprepared because my approval just went through on Friday, 08/30. It was like oh crap! Pre-Op LSD is Protein Shake for Breakfast and Protein shake for lunch then 4-6oz. lean meat for dinner with approved veggies list. Have to wean off caffeine which has been terrible. But I am so excited it’s almost surgery date!! I just keep telling myself how worth it everything will be!!

And a 1 year after update for you all. I went from not being able to cross my legs, to cross in the shape of a figure 4, well last night I crossed them and I almost make a Roman Numeral I, I used to envy my late father-in- law, a tall thin normal- proportioned Dutchman, cause He Could and I Never Could, well today I CAN and. even wrap one foot around behind the other like I've seen Fox News Ladies do, so their undies aren't in view. Whooee, Yippee Yahoo, I'm almost NORMAL & AVERAGE in appearance, Another NSV that I never planned for, they just keep coming and I 💕each and every new thing about ME I FIND!👈😛👉

    1. To weigh less than my hubby.
    2. Hopefully this will help my back (not all issues in mine are weight related) Kind of worried right now though because even 25 lbs lighter after over a year of maintaining the pain for the past week it has been worse than it was 1-2 years ago.
    3. To not excessively sweat.
    4. To not have to pay so much more just to have cute clothes.
    5. To look amazing at my son's graduation from pilot training.
    6. To be healthy, be able to be active without "dying"
    7. Hoping that losing weight and getting healthy will help with my depression-be a happier person.
I know there are more and none of these are really weird, but I am blanking on other things right now

    1) To feel more comfortable in my skin!
    2) Fit in more professional clothes. Sounds strange, but I hate clothes shopping. It's expensive to find cute plus sizes
3), Wear high heels and not feel like a weeble wooble
    4) Shave legs much easier
    5) To not feel like the fat mom at my kid's school/sports/church/etc. activities
    6) Cross my legs!
    7) Learn how to ride a motorcycle comfortably

I totally agree on the clothing! My boss fusses at me once in a blue moon about dressing more professional since I try and get away with the most comfortable clothes possible. Usually jeans and a semi dress top. I am looking forward to being able to shop for cute, professional dress clothes without paying an arm and a leg.

This might be why, when you consume foods like this and then go to bed your body can't burn them off... try switching your cheat meal to the middle of the day to see if that helps any.

I'm more excited about clothing. Just the thought of having the option of something besides plain t shirts and pants when and if I want to. I just started going to the gym and I cannot find gym clothes in my size. The thought of losing enough weight to wear gym clothes of all things is strangely inspiring to me.

My original date of June 17 had to be cancelled because I failed my stress test, which in turn caused the surgery to be postponed. Everything’s OK now & I officially have a new date! July 22nd awaits! I’m excited, nervous & pumped all at once. The countdown begins!

Because every time you turn on your TV some movie star or other famous person is announcing " I have cancer of the_____but I am going to fight it all the way!" Seldom do they announce " I'm going to sit in my recliner, put my feet up, watch reruns and Wait for the Death Angel to show up!" So the average person sees you suddenly looking thinner, and it's "OMG are you dying? "Well technically we all are from the day we are born but an intentional weight loss is not a bad- type thing at all. I am happy I am losing weight, its just the freaky fact I have started looking like dead relatives and I hardly recognize myself in the mirror any more. Even Tomkitten my son remarked on it "Gee Mama I never realized you looked like Aunt Grace!" Probably because she never was obese like me! Hey a Happy Journaling Victory, I have broken the 40 BMI barrier so well on my way to being merely obese instead of the Dreaded Morbid Obesity notation. What a lovely thing, not to have that cited as a reason for every doctor visit. Sometimes I'd like to hand him. a printout of the encounter " Physician still smart -aleck, never weighed more than 150 pounds in lifetime!" bet I could find a billing code to fit that! Once put on Tomkittens" Erythema of Nose" that was because he had a slight sunburn, would you have put in a billing code for a red nose? Well he sure did, wonder what he would say about Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer? Probably say it was seasonal!

At the beginning of my 2 week pre-op liquid diet in October 2018, I was 235 lbs. My surgeon suggested that reaching 160 lbs within a year would be a success. I got to 160 lbs in 4 months (Feb 2019).
For a personal goal, I chose 120 lbs, which is in the middle of the "normal" BMI range for my height. I was in the 120's until I was about 30 yrs old, so I figure it was not impossible.
I'm almost 7 months post-op and I'm about 10 lbs to my personal goal. I figure at my current rate of loss, I should reach this by the end of next month. Then comes maintenance which will be another lifestyle change altogether...yikes.
  19. Congrats!

I have hungry pains quite a bit too. I try and take big drinks of Water. I figured I'd enjoy the big sips of water now while I can since it's so restrictive afterwards. I've had horrible headaches from detoxing caffeine too. I just keep telling myself it will be worth it.

Arrived at the hospital ~5:30am for a 7am surgery signed in filled out remaining paperwork.
Taken to the preop area, urine sample collected (pregnancy testing), changed into hospital gowns then weight, temp, blood pressure etc. testing.
Layed on bed while IV line was placed, asked to confirm personal info (name, date of birth, reason for visit -to make sure patient is aware of procedure)
Lactated Ringers began (IV fluids), Surgeon stopped by to go over the plan answer questions (very calming) next Anesthesiologist stops by and asked confirmation questions (name, date of birth, reason for visit -to make sure patient is aware of procedure) tell you the type of anesthesia answer questions.
    VSG:
Versed Fentanyl given while being wheeled back to OR. I arrived to cheering and applause from surgical staff. Greeted everyone with fairytale princess waves. Transfered from bed to OR table. While monitoring devices were placed i drifted to sleep.
    RNY conversion:
Wheeled back to OR, with jokes and laughter, where i was introduced to every member of the team (by name and position) who would work with me. Greeted by everyone with hand shakes or waves. Transfered to OR table.
Versed Fentanyl given while friendly chatter and banter ensued. Monitoring devices placed, i asked Anesthesiologist how long until i feel asleep, he told me to count to 100. Oxygen mask placed, i only remember counting to 8. Fell asleep immediately.
    Both surgeries:
In and out of lucidity while in recovery area. Not fully awake until i reached my room ~1-2 hrs after surgery ended.
