Now that they know the problem you are on the road to recovery, although this isn't pleasant or expected and feels like hell, in a few weeks you will look back at this as a road bump in your journey and be on phase 2 of healing and ready for your weight loss journey. Sending positive vibes for your healing. Remember this part is temporary

Well, she's certainly within rights to make arbitrary fantasy rules for her practice, but scientifically this is a load of hooey. LOL. ALLLLLLLL macronutrients are cumulative as is calorie load, glycemic load, incretin load, protein load, etc. So. You do what you think is best. But if you apply her screwy logic to your diet, you are gonna be working super hard to get all that protein down and you will likely be over eating = slow weight loss.
Protein Drinks + protein in food = total daily protein. Most of our docs say 60-80g for women and 80-100g for men (from all sources-animal, mineral, vegetable). LOL.

I agree with the others, I've never heard that before and it sounds absurd. I know they told us that whey protein isolate (which is in some of the protein shakes) is the best absorbed form of protein, so we should focus on those early out rather than shakes made from protein blends or whey concentrate, but they never told us not to count the protein in food.

in defense of Fluffy, she's a respected member of this site and a really good resource for us. It's just that what your nutritionist told you is wildy different than what the rest of us were told. It's....unusual advice. I've been hanging out on WLS forums for about five years, and this is the first time I've ever heard of anything like this.

Stop looking at the scale. Live your new life, keep walking your steps, hitting your Water and Protein goals. The weight will come off. It is NOT a linear loss. I have WEEKS where I lose nothing, and then all of a sudden I'll lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

I think we're all different honestly. And you have to do what you know is right. I would try to see if I could find some balance due to your fear.
    I would:
Only have 1 green smoothie a day (if you feel you must). Pack it with a scoop of Protein Powder, 1oz of avocado, 2oz of deep dark greens, psyllium husks, 1oz of blueberries (or other deep berry), liquid stevia, 28g Greek yogurt (plain) and thin it down with ice and either Fairlife Fat Free Milk or unflavored almond or cashew milk (not as much protein).
Then for lunch, I'd have raw veggies in a salad or with my 2-3oz of Protein + raw veggies. Use a Greek yogurt (plain) dip with Ranch seasoning if you need. Thin it with Fairlife Fat Free Milk. Include 1oz of avocado and a very very very light oil. I used 3 zeros Italian or Greek (zero cal dressing) or Walden Farms zero cal dressing. I would add 5g of pumpkin seeds or 10g of some kind of nut. That way you are getting plenty of fat for fat soluble Vitamin absorption.
Then for dinner, I'd have 3-4oz of protein + 1-2oz al dente steamed veg + 1oz avocado + 1oz grape tomatoes.

I would drop everything else. Your hunger should come under control in 3-4 days from now.
I would try to get in a range of 700-800 cals per day. I lost best around 650-700 cals and carbs at 30g net or below per day.
At the rate you are going, I honestly believe you will stop losing well before you are finished or should be finished. You need to up your speed and you are right to feel concern. You are mainlining sugar into your body with all your juicing and smoothies. And just quit the grains. No one needs em. Frankly. If they are causing your weight loss to slow so significantly and causing so much hunger, you clearly as an individual cannot handle them right now. Maybe for maintenance, but the question should ALWAYS be:
How did your meal xy or z make you feel 1 hour after eating, 2 hours after eating, the next morning. How long was it before you felt hunger cues.
By now, you should be able to go 3-4 hours minimum between meals. If you cannot, you are having blood sugar roller coasters and those are very bad for all of us.

Hope that helps. It's not too late to restart your plan!!!! Choose to do it today!

that stair-stepping pattern to weight loss is pretty common.
re: Protein - most surgeons seem to recommend something in the 60-80 g range. I have to average 100 g a day or else my prealbumin level tanks, but I'm kind of an exception. I do know others without protein malabsorption issues who do consume about 100 g (or even more) a day, though.
I've read that taking in more protein than you need is more of a problem for people who already have existing kidney issues, and not so much for people who don't. I don't know what the general medical consensus on this is, though.

I've lost a lot of inches though and my clothes are practically falling and I am becoming self conscious of the looks and comments but trying to take it in good stride!
Let's keep plugging away and a year from now, we'll look at these moments with laughter![emoji176]🧡[emoji176]🧡

Hang in there, it is temporary. I was dreaming of pizza and cheeseburgers in the hospital. The TV commercials were my worst enemy at home. 8f you can DVR your shows and fast forward past the commercials. I was hungry until I got to the pureed stage. It definitely will get better. Sip, sip, sip your Water and protien shakes. I am 11 weeks out, obviously still haven't had that piece of pizza but down 45 lbs and am ok without it. Stay strong

64 oz is the number that you work your way up to eventually and all fluids you consume count towards your hydration goals (tea, broth, popsicles, even jello)
Proper hydration especially Water is important for a lot of bodily functions. Use google scholar to pull some journals to support this with evidence and get a doctors note if you need to stating your need to use the restroom more frequently is temporary.

I agree with you , baby steps I think is good . If you don’t feel ready, it won’t do you any harm to stay with what you’re doing for a bit longer I’ve mashed a boiled egg with a spoon instead of a fork today - in preperation😄but I am very nervous of the next bit . I’m sure we’ll be ok , but have to remember to eat slowly . do you have a list of “caution foods “ to go careful with ? YES! we should compare notes , let’s do it 🙂 Good luck . 😊

Did my Wednesday weigh in last week and had a disappointing stall with no loss to report, not even an ounce. Did my Wednesday weigh in this morning (10 weeks post op) and the scale went down 4.5 lbs. However while in my stall week I wracked my brain as to how nor fret over my stall. In true fashion of being a David Letterman fan I decided to go old school and come up with a top ten list of things I've achieved since surgery pertaining to Non scale Victorys and not the number on the scale. Hoping everyone will post a few of their own. Here goes :
    1. Actually realizing what full feels like for the first time in 57 years
    2. Being able to buckle the airplane seatbelt without sliding the buckle to the very end
    3. Being able to leave the bathroom after showering with only 1 bath towel wrapped around me instead of 2
    4. Being able to tie my sneakers without being out of breath
    5. Being able to easily zip last years winter coat and not having to buy a new one like the last few winters
    6. Eagerly remembering to take the Fitbit off the charger to track steps and not leave it there for 3 or 4 days before remembering I haven't looked at it
    7. Ordering the work team t-shirt and not having to pay the extra price for the sizes past XL
    8. Being "that person" at lunch that actually orders the salad with grilled chicken instead of the cheeseburger and fries or tortellini alfredo after eating half the bread basket
    9. Realizing you actually bought a piece of clothing because you liked it and not just because it was your size
    10. Being able to sleep without waking yourself up with your own LOUD snoring

Only 7 weeks out... but so far:
Bought sneakers a half size smaller because my feet are thinner again
Down from size 16 to size 12 (snug, but not a 14)
More energy during the day, staying awake much later
sleeping better at night, no longer taking medication to help me sleep. Also had to tighten my CPAP headgear straps
Comfortably taking 2 mile walks again... DAILY in the AM! And starting to add a 2nd walk in the evening
