I always use the soap the hospital gives. Usually it is Hibiclens soap, I think? You can also buy it at Walgreens. I buy Hibiclens wipes and use them for cleaning wounds with my family sometimes in lieu of hydrogen peroxide.
I've noticed that every hospital that has great grades/points due to super low incidents of patients getting infections seem to adhere to protocols like this and others which in the end is what WE, the patients, NEED.
I was delighted I was given Hibiclens soap free from the hospital and didn't have to break into my 'got it on sale at Walgreens's suppy'..lol

Drains were and still are the worst part of all this . Just today I was freaking out - I have holes in those places and it is ****** scary [emoji43][emoji33] but my surgeon was helpful and explained everything so I'm much calmer right now . Recovery is good except these incisions. Thanks for nice wishes [emoji8]

    They sound perfectly normal.
Drain sites close from the inside upwards. If the skin healed first then the hole underneath would end up being a pocket called a sinus which would fester and become infected.
A couple of steri strips and small dressing over them should be fine. Don't touch or pick them.
They don't sound infected. It is normal for wound sites to be hot pink and tender and ooze. An infection would be very red, hot and very painful and the redness would be growing in diameter each day.
Nothing to be scared or angry about, all perfectly normal

I had a central line. It was put in once I was out on the operating table. Had it in recovery for 4 days. They could provide meds and take blood from the same line. Saved my arms from being pricked all the time they wanted blood.

    Hi!
Carefully clean around them with a saline based wound wash, keep dry and covered with gauze then call your Team. Infections need to be addressed by professionals
    Good Luck 💜

I won't be going to the hospital until the day of surgery, and most likely will get discharged the next day.
    Best of luck to you!

Well my surgeon requested diet woth calorie intake 1200 - as long as I stayed in that range I can eat anything I want
But cause of easier calorie counting I'm in a full liquid diet with one meat - low or no carbs meal

Selena_Sarajevo reacted to PeachPerfect in hunger pains less than 2 weeks post op?
I haven't dealt with hunger pains pre or post op, but my mother got this surgery before me and I saw her deal with it. Uncomfortable from being hungry, not liking things she used to (like tea), not tolerating the Protein Drinks (vanilla, chocolate, anything shake like really), and really just being so frustrated about it. My mom was an emotional eater for almost half her life. I worked my ass off years before getting this surgery to kick that habit and learn new, healthier habits (and no I don't mean picking up a carrot instead of a cookie). I begged and pleaded that she go to therapy because even the surgeon explains, if you are an emotional eater this surgery cannot fix that as it will eventually creep up again.

I agree with a lot of what everyone has been saying (stomach acid pain is no joke and its just likely that it could be the cause. Obviously no one can tell what the problem is besides a doctor), I'm just like a huge believer in therapy, and I hope this all doesn't come off wrong.

This sounds like stomach acid. Are you on a PPI?

I don't think anyone on here dismisses head hunger. There is just different ways to deal with physical hunger vs. stomach acid vs. head hunger. Early post op, it is more likely to be head hunger or stomach acid vs. physical hunger. A raw sutured stomach isn't likely to be hungry, but over production of stomach acid is common, and being honest, most of us who have WLS have significant issues with cravings and head hunger.

Yes, it's very common. It will pass! Do mindful things for yourself to help get through it!
    1. Sunlight every day--exercise/walk outside if you can and also supp Vitamin D and Vit C.
    2. EXERCISE hard every day--walk fast if that's all you got.
    3. Eat healthy! Maintain good control over what goes down your piehole and cut out any crap if you're eating it. IT helps you feel successful.
    4. Watch comedies. Laugh a lot.
    5. Deep breathe--especially when you're in the middle of an episode of sadness. Google Four Square Breathing.
    6. Develop a network of friends and likeminded people.
    7. Get a creative outlet, even if it's coloring on your mobile phone!
    8. Get enough sleep! Work on developing good sleep hygiene so you really get deep sleep.
    9. Focus on happy thoughts, on the future, on victory.
    10. Stand in front of your mirror in a super hero pose for 60 seconds each day and imagine yourself winning the day and being happy.
