I have watched lots of YouTube videos and talked to several people who had VSG surgery, and the one common denominator among all of them is the same thing you said: "best damn thing I ever did!" I know the journey will not be easy, but I am thinking about the long term goals and dreams - too many of them to even list! I am thrilled to be on this journey finally!

Congrats! So awesome to hear about all the positive changes! I can't wait to start experiencing that myself. Good luck on the rest of your journey!

First time using this forum, still figuring out how this works. I am new to this VSG journey and am really excited to begin this next chapter of my life. I had my first appointment with the Bariatric clinic on 12/17/19, to get the ball rolling. I have several other appointments scheduled for this month (January 2020), and many more will be coming up in the months to come. I am hoping to have surgery in the summer of 2020.
For the first time in my life, I feel like reaching my goal weight is a realistic possibility. I am working on losing as much weight as possible in the next 6 months (before surgery), to give myself a greater chance of getting to that goal. Thus far, since 12/17/19, I have lost 14 lbs and I feel such a huge difference in my body already! I can't even imagine what it will feel like to lose the rest of the weight!
Are there any other Newbies out there who want to walk this journey together? I would love to hear from you! I would also love to hear from people who are farther along in this journey, who can share their experience and wisdom.
I place this whole journey in the hands of God, by whose grace this is all happening in my life and on whose strength I totally rely! Thank you Jesus!

Anyone else NOT have a pre-op diet?? Mine is day before only. 🤷🏻♀️

At my first meeting with the bariatric surgery program (12/17/19) I asked about the pre-op diet. I was told that the latest research shows that liquid fasting for 1-2 weeks prior to surgery does not benefit the patient, but actually causes distress, so they no longer require it as of a few years ago. For the pre-surgery diet, they now require that for 2 weeks, you have one small meal a day, and the rest is liquids. I was so happy to hear that because a month seems like a REALLY long time to be on liquids only (if you have to do liquids for 2 weeks pre-surgery and 2 weeks post-surgery.
