    Losing Hope

I feel your pain. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED! This too shall pass. Focus on other things as mentioned above - YOU WILL BE APPROVED! You will be in my prayers for a speedy approval - meet you on the other side : )
  2. KUDOS TO YOU!!! INSPIRING - THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!
  3. Question: Would you enter a brand new car you purchased into a Daytona 500 race? No So why would you start going to the gym shortly after getting a new stomach? If that worked for you (going to the gym) before surgery, why are you still obese? I haven't had surgery yet but I was into fitness/exercise before my slip/fall injury 2.5 years ago which has brought me to my August 27th VSG surgery. I've seen several posts of individuals wondering why their weight loss has stalled after 1 month because their lifting weights and going to the gym almost every day. Ask yourself, "What am I burning off?". You are taking in during your first month less than 500-600 calories, you are working that off at the gym and then, guess what "your hunger comes creeping back". No, I'm not an expert but I do have common sense. I want us all to be SUCCESSFUL & our first year is when we can turn this weightloss thing out!! So worry less about strenuous workouts and more on figuring out how to give your body more LOVE through figuring out how to balance out the right amount of food and nutrition. Remember - weight lose is 80 percent food and 20 percent exercise. Below information was taken from "Women's Health Magazine" Here's what that might look like: "I see this in patients all the time,” says Lofton. “People think, ‘If I run the marathonor start going to boot camp, I’m going to lose weight’ but they’re often disappointed when they don’t.” You don't need to hit an exact 80/20 ratio to shed pounds, but it is important for people to focus primarily on diet when they're trying to lose weight. "You can lose weight without exercise, but you cannot lose weight if your nutrition counteracts your energy expenditure through exercise," Matheny says. WE WILL ALL SUCCEED! God Bless
  4. CONGRATS! You will do great - prayers going up for a success procedure and a speedy recovery!
  5. @Nay143 Keep us posted with your progress!!
  6. She almost started me on my vitamins over a month ago so I can get adjusted to taking them timely with my work schedule - 4am, 8:00am, 12:30pm(after lunch) and last one before bed. I've been taking the biotin capsules for 3 months to get them in my system but will switch over to the biotin melts after surgery to get a headstart from hair loss. I take these before I leave work so they aren't close to my last vitamin intake. Just being proactive before surgery!
  7. 4 days full liquids & 3 days clear liquids before surgery. She advised me to have a journal before our video conference so I can start accounting for what goes in my mouth. My daughter pulled a nice monthly schedule off internet and I made a nice note book (attached).
  8. No problem - we need each other for sure! My dietitian will video call me on August 19th to go over my pre-op diet. Due to my weight, it will only be 1 week. I'm so excited! I have my anesthesia assessment appointment August 13th at the hospital I will be having surgery. So - I'm almost there!! I will be taking 3 weeks off, returning after my follow-up with surgeon 9/18. EXCITED!
  9. @Nay143 how are you feeling love? Praying your journey is everything and more in reaching your goal! BLESSINGS
  10. Ok my surgery date is August 27th and I'm trying a new pureed recipe I found under this site - ricotta bake! My grand daughter helped and she loved it too! I used 4 oz glass containers but once in this stage, I wouldn't use the full container - only half. I also added 1 scoop of genepro to add more protein. Anyone tried anything else that was good? Share pictures!
  11. Can't wait to be strong enough to do this every morning!

  13. Thank you so much RickM - very helpful information! Wishing your wife much success on her journey & commending you for standing by her through this life changing event ; )!!!
  14. Question: Do you have a WLS team once you are recovering back in the US? How does that work when you have your surgery outside of your insurance? Does your insurance allow you to have a specialized WL team in the US through your paperwork from Mexico of your procedure or wherever you went to continue long term care/support? Just curious & asking for a friend whose insurance would not cover her but she doesn't want to be denied a support team here if needed. Thanks!
  15. My dietitian wanted me to start as soon as I could to get adjusted to taking them on schedule. My surgery is August 27th so I have had a head start for over a month and glab about it!

    Hey everyone!

Hi Greg! I'm three weeks away from my surgery but totally understand where you are right now. Keep following the plan set for you by your nutritionist, get in plenty of protein sources and water. More experienced advice will hopefully be posted soon by the veterans. YOU ARE A WINNER!

Stop Hard Core Workouts after Surgery

Hmmm, yes. That's what he's saying. I guess people think I'm saying "we don't need to workout". That's incorrect. Light workouts in the beginning and work your way up.

Agree 110% "after" your pouch heals and your mind has mastered nutritional intake to burn fat not deplete much needed energy.

A great video by Dr. Vuong that explains weight loss surgery vs exercise. "Disclaimer" - this is not for EVERYONE. Those of you losing tons of weight working out 4-6 weeks after surgery - Kudos to you, but the rest of us let's take our time to heal. 2 month stall

Good morning Ladies, my surgery date is August 27th but if I may suggest from my tons of research, I would definitely let go of the weight training. Walking is Ok but weight training is building muscles and that will hinder weight lose. Keep us posted love.
