  1. My surgery was 5 mths ago. Since then I have left a relationship, started a new job, fallen in love, and started a new relationship. I went from completely miserable to the happiest I've ever been. It didn't take long before my new boyfriend saw how filling up on food really hurts me and he's become even more conscientious of my eating than I am sometimes... Same with my daughter.... My point is I have full support surrounding me. I feel, however, that I have stretched my pouch in the last month. I'm able to eat a good amount of food compared to what I could eat a mth ago. I can even eat foods that I wasn't able to eat. I haven't lost weight or inches in 3 or 4 weeks. I'm really scared I've ruined it for myself. Should I do a pouch reset? Do you think it would help? Thank you in advance for any advice.

  2. I'm a little over 3 mths and lately I have had a few days where I can't stop eating. I tell myself no and next thing I know it's in my hand. I ate my first candy bar. A Snickers. About 30 minutes ago. I feel sick to my stomach. I have rejected only a few things. Candy bars aren't a habit I'd get back into but even once in a while isn't worth this feeling. On those days I can't stop eating I don't know what to do. It's funny, too, because I seem to even have more room in my stomach. It's maddening.

  3. I'm almost at the one month mark and feeling the same way...not sure if I'm losing as much as I should be. My scale and clothes tell two different stories. Seeing your loss gives me so much hope!! Keep up the great work!!

Thank you so much! I didn't think the surgery worked for the first 2 mths plus until I took that 3 mth picture and put it next to my starting picture. It makes me so excited to think of what the next coming months will bring!

Thank you!!! I get about 500 calories give or take. My nutritionist said not to worry about my calories just mainly my Protein so I get that in for sure. I walk 3 nights a week and do a cardio boxing workout on my Wii on nights I don't walk. I only started working out a few weeks ago and it really makes me wish I was working out this whole time... Since I added the workout to my walking my weight loss has started moving so quickly it's unreal to me. I just lost 10 pounds in a week. I don't want to stop lol. 7. [mention=352955]DanieHall[/mention]
yum yum !!! umm ummm good - hail, hail to pistachios!![emoji39]
buttttt, they are dangerous for me!! got it under control though.
bought a bag couple of weeks ago - put a good portion in small baggies.
grab them from the pantry that way. otherwise, i might have
prob stopping. but i'm good with one bag - not tempted to take
    another bag.
btw - don't worry about the ER, as with everything moderation is key
    good luck
    kathy
I love them so much that I also put them in individual bags lol. It's definitely a great idea. [emoji3]

  8. I'm a night worker, too. I walk to and from work because it's around the corner but I find it a lot easier to exercise right after work. I'll get home, change, and go right back out to walk. Sometimes it's hard to get the motivation after I wake up or before work so it really works best even after working all night. It's my wind down. Meals I usually eat within an hour of being awake. Then I eat about every 4 hours. I do have one shake a day which I save for when I know it's going to he hard to get a break to eat. I almost always have some sort of small snack ... Pistachios are my favorite but I don't eat a lot of them because they sit kind of heavy in my stomach which, ironically, is also the reason I choose them... I don't feel full so quickly. It doesn't always work so picture perfect but trying to stick to a time schedule works for me. Good luck [emoji171] I hope you find something that works for you.

  9. My mother did the same thing to me last week. She brought homemade banana nut bread and chocolate chip Cookies to my house. It was nice but she wasnt thinking. She knew i give in alittle with my temptations of food. Its the way my mom is i just dont take things to personal anymore and let it go cause shes alittle bit of a beautiful airhead like myself. Like mother like daughter is how i start noticing in myself. Lol.
[emoji171] beautiful airhead [emoji4] awww that just made me smile.

  10. Well, I might try killing it with kindness.
Tell your Mom that you are so excited right now to be on the same journey she went on two years ago. Explain to her that she has been SUCH an inspiration to you, that HER weightloss has been very motivating and that you are proud of HER. Tell her how much you admire the choice(S) she made to get healthy, and that it helped you want to get there too.
THEN flip the switch a bit and ask for her help. Tell her you need her support in this, not just for you but for her Granddaughter. Be honest and explain that these food items, while awesome and made with love, are just not good for you now. Ask if she will help you find healthy alternatives. Tell her you need her to put those awesome cooking skills to work in ways that will help you succeed. Maybe even ask if she will cook WITH you, if that is something you would like.
Moms love to be needed, and nothing is better than helping your "baby". If she sees herself as your role model and has a way to help you it may work for you both. You get real support and healthy food. She gets to feel needed, admired and, if she is backsliding into bad food choices, a great reason to stay on a better path. [emoji170]

Wow!!!!!! She would COMPLETELY LOVE if I did these things. It would probably work, too! Thank you! [emoji171]

  11. That's different considering she's been there, done that. Give it to a neighbor and don't eat it. Have the "You need to be supportive" talk with her again.
Yeah I definitely need to talk to her and definitely don't need to eat it or have it in my house. My boyfriend ended up eating it [emoji53] but he needs to eat right as well. I've been excited about the way my family eats the last few months. Even proud. My daughter lost 10 pounds. She should get all of this. I'll try again.

  12. My diagnosis: a control thing- by sabatoging you she wins- and it's "Poor Rosemary", to all her friends, " I warned her" We Sicilian aren't built for THOSE POOR DIETS- THAT RADICAL A SURGERY- We were meant by GOD to eat healthy home- cooked FOOD!" Nonna wins , YOU lose, and in her [emoji173], all is WELL. Meanwhile there you are , nauseous on the sidelines, wondering why your own mother acts this way? And I believe you're trying your best, for yourself and trying to be a good example for your Daughter, but her fine Italian thumb is right on top of you again! How do I know this? A long life and although I'm as American as Hot Dogs and Apple Pie, on my street were Italian neighbor Mamas, 2 streets over were the Greeks , and between Pasta and moussaka, and Paczi from the Polish Mamas the other direction, I became a Dietary Delinquent at an Early Age and now at 73 I'm still shedding the weight!
Finally, You know how you now feel about banana bread? I'm 10 going on 11 months out, someone made me what they called an Healthy smoothie, put a Banana in it, same General Body Reaction, Maybe the Yellow fruit and I will never be Friends Again! Sad, before my surgery they had much A-Peel for Me, just couldn't resist a Pun There!
Much Love, Much Sympathy because I have been" food- repulsed" also [emoji21][emoji113][emoji14]
Wow! That's a lot of food for thought... I love puns [emoji7] In all seriousness, though, it really is. In great ways. You have incredible energy. [emoji4] Thank you!

  13. the generic name is polyethylene glycol, so the brand name(s) might be different if you live outside of the US. It's just a mild laxative that's safe to use every day (well, unless you take a ton of it - but a capful or less is fine for daily use, according to my doctor). It's a tasteless powder you mix into beverages. A lot post-ops take it to stay on top of the Constipation issue.
This is very good to know and I completely see how this could be helpful. :) Thank you!

  14. I could understand if she hadn’t had surgery but when she has been through it herself it seems very odd
That's the one part of it all that makes me so confused and upset. And just under 2 years... That's pretty new. She's not dumb. Ugh I just have to sit her down again and keep it as real as I can and try to get her to understand. I'll definitely keep you all posted on the outcome.

  15. Maybe negligence not sabotage... Only you would really know
    BUT
I would suggest telling her EXACTLY what you do and don't want. Clarify everything so no one is in the dark about the new family diet moving forward. Adamantly saying no to non-Bari friendly foods people offer isn't rude its self preservation.
    Good Luck [emoji171]
I hope it's negligence. I am going to have one more talk with her. You're right... Saying no isn't rude. Thank you for reminding me of that. [emoji171]

  16. Were you honest with her when you talked to her the first time? Mom, at this point my daughter and I can’t have that type of food in the house. Some suggestions of things you can bring are ______.
I have been honest with her a couple of times now... It's funny you say that because just a month ago she told me about these bariatric friendly recipes for banana bread and brownies so when she handed me the loaf I got excited and asked if that's what it was and she said nope just regular banana bread. I will try to make suggestions to her as well. Anything will help. I love her endlessly but she does stuff like this sometimes. It wouldn't be AS bad if she didn't know exactly what I was going through and exactly what I need to do. Thank you.
