  1. I have always assumed, ok..in the last few weeks when I changed dr's and the new one said that I could indeed have a gastric bypass and that based on the weight I need to lose, etc. it would be the best best - especially as my insurance is a "one and done" (i.e. you only get 1 bariatric surgery..EVER)....I assumed the RNY would be done via laparoscopy?
Hopefully the days of "open" RNY's, etc. are a thing of the past. However, I just got my "official copy" of my insurance approval and it says "Gastric Bypass by Endoscopy"
What the heck? Is this a normal part of RNY - do they go down your..um...esophagus and also do little incisions on your abdomen? I've been so heavily sleeve focused for past 3 yrs, I feel like I've missed something crucial..or I just don't understand. Why am I drawing a blank on this??
It's just made me....pause (not changing mind - still having surgery on 7/25)...and try to 'catch up' on just what is going to happen "now". I mean, I've watched videos, TV shows, etc. but so far I've seen the use of robotics/laparoscopy or just laparoscopy. Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough or missed that part of the show?

Maybe they are referring to the endoscopy you have prior to your actual bypass. I'm almost 2 weeks post-op and only familiar with a laparoscopic procedure. I had 5 incisions and also had my gallbladder removed. The endoscopy is done as one of your many pre-op appointments to check to make sure your overall health is great before surgery. Hope this helps you. Best of luck to you.

  2. My surgery went very well! I came home on Tuesday evening and the pain is getting better but still lingering. Trying my best to get my Protein Shakes in, but they just don't taste the same. I use Orgain mixed with low fat lactose free milk. I'm required to drink 16 oz. I was able to get in 14ozs yesterday. Also tried just a little Water, Jello, and 8oz of broth. I'm glad I'm able hold my liquids down. My goal today is to get my full 16ozs of Protein in. What flavors of extract have you guys tried in your protein smoothies to make them taste better?

  3. I’m going in for VSG tomorrow!!! I have to be there at 8 a.m. [emoji15] so many emotions are starting to hit me!
    Good luck!!
I'm excited for you. I probably won't sleep tonight due to my crazy emotions, but we are definitely taking the right steps to a better healthier lifestyle. I'm about to double check my bag to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Then to bed I go.

  4. Currently having my clear liquid dinner for the night. Tomorrow will be my last day on the Clear Liquids. Surgery is scheduled for July 8TH at 10:30AM. I am feeling a plethora of emotions. I did really well avoiding the temptation of eating any of the chicken casserole for my family. Just so ready to get this surgery done. It has been a long time coming. Might as well make some of my favorite tea and then call it a night.20190629_101423.jpeg 20190624_192337.jpeg
