MeepMeep got a reaction from AZhiker in POST SURGERY- When did you get your energy back and go to the gym?
8 weeks and I felt “normal”. My energy was back to pre-op levels and I felt I was ready to go back to the gym. Take it slow! Several times I came home and had to take a nap. I’m feeling better now that I’m eating real food again. Somehow those Protein Shakes didn’t give me enough energy to do much without getting tired quickly.

Only you can make this life changing decision. And it looks like you have a few examples of how this is a tool and your daily decisions will affect how it works. I questioned myself about making such a permanent change but am so glad I did. You’ve worked so hard and have overcome so many obstacles to get where you are..don’t quit on yourself now.

Mine included all of the information given by other above. We also confirmed what surgery I would be having, my current weight and how to continue on my pre-op diet successfully. This is the time to get all of your surgery questions asked and answered. Nothing is off limits—this is your body and your new life. Don’t be shy..if you’re wondering about something, speak up.
    Good Luck!

You need to find a surgeon that accepts your insurance immediately and have all of your documentation transferred to the new surgeon, please do that ASAP friend. Living like that is not okay. Keep us updated.

You might need a doppler to see if you might have developed a blood clot. I would let your surgeon know immediately. It could also be electrolyte imbalance, but they will always want to play it safe rather than sorry. I developed phlebitis in one of my leg veins after RNY. Doc sent me for a doppler and turned out I had 3 blood clots with none of the usual symptoms!!!!

I put lotion on my incisions with no problems. If you’re still questioning it, start with something like Neosporin or hydrocortisone cream.

Pooping makes the world go around! The world go around! The world go around! Many think this song should be about money, but nah...I think it's all about the (Mr. Hanky).
Good Lord! So I've been through MOM 60ml x 3 days, Mag Citrate 400mg pills Daily, Mag Citrate liquid (1/3 bottle--oh the humanity! Never again!), Smooth Move Tea, and Miralax x 2 days, psyllium 12g x 3 days, chia seed pudding (standing by), and daily Colace 250mg pills...and finally. Finally!
    FINALLY!
The earth moved. I would like to thank the academy.
I feel such a sense of relief. I was seriously bloated, uncomfy, was 4 lbs up on the scale, and generally in a pissy mood yesterday. I was miserable. Now, this morning...I feel light as a feather and so relieved. No more pain, distended tummy, nuttin honey. Life is good again.
Nowwwww....wax eloquently and profusely about how much better you feel when the trains are rolling down the track on schedule!!!
    Ok, go!

    Snack: Vitamins & meds 😂
lunch : yogurt, broth, water, tea
    Snack: Jello
Dinner: ricotta bake, Protein shake, water, tea
    Snack: popsicle
    Extra snack: water, sleep 😂

Ok, yes! Be hard on yourself. WTF? Seriously. Call your surgeon and get a referral to your RD and to the bariatric counselor. Start therapy now. This may sound harsh? But you are 4 WEEKS post op! This is the "easiest" and the "hardest" you will ever have it and the time you will feel LEAST like eating in your entire journey. Cuz barring complications like it sounds like you're asking for, your restriction will get increasingly less and less as the months go by and you continue to heal and evolve. You either take care of your food/behavior problems now? Or you could be doomed to either never see goal, or regain.
Tough? Fu*k yes. I am being tough and shocking. I hope it shocks you into getting a grip and getting real with your bad choices.
It begs to be asked...Why did you have this life-changing surgery if you weren't ready to get serious about living a new life? Ask yourself, WHAT IS YOUR WHY? WHY did you want the surgery? WHY did you want a new lease on life? How important are YOU? How important is your marriage? Your LIFE?

(Seriously one of the saddest posts I've ever read and I've read a bunch including a post-op eating pizza at 4 days.)

This is just me, so do your thang and happy you found something to work for you.
But, my surgeon said no Protein Drinks over 200cals. At that point they become "milk shakes" and further, I didn't have bariatric surgery just to down massive quantities of calories and carbs in a Protein Drink. The purpose of Protein drinks is to get nourishment down your piehole for the ABSOLUTE FEWEST calories while maxing protein.
In a protein drink you want way more than 1g of protein per 10cals. And this is falling short. I can have a Premier for 160cals and get 25-30g protein. Or I can have an Isopure for about 140cals and get 25g.
Sorry. But I also don't want to activate the hedonic pleasure center by linking my "milk shake" with my protein drink. This is the time to retrain your brain.

I’m a side/tummy sleeper too. About 8 days out I could do both without much discomfort. I did try it a fee days earlier and found with a pillow supporting my torso/tummy on my left side I wasn’t in pain.

Mine did the same right after surgery—even with liquids. Now that I’m on soft foods it still happens. 🤦‍♀️ Just something we have to deal with. I take chewable gas-x tablets if I have a meeting after lunch. Lol.
