For me it was an unrelenting, excruciating pain in my mid-upper abdomen, like somebody was squeezing my innards and wouldn't stop. Both times it occurred about half an hour or an hour after lunch. The first attack only lasted an hour and-a-half, but came back after dinner. The second time, it lasted several hours.

I started getting gallbladder attacks three months after my sleeve. When I called my surgeon, she says it happens to about 30% of sleeve patients.

I'm four months out and still have no energy. I also get faint whenever I get up too fast from lying down. (I guess I need to speak to my doctor about the latter.)

Then came the nightmare. A few days ago, I drank about 2-3 oz of diet coke, and a few minutes later started having the worst stomach pains I have ever had in my life. It got so bad I ended up in the ER, in such pain that I was sweating and could barely talk. The pain subsided after an hour or two, but a few hours later, after eating a small dinner and drinking some Water a half hour after the meal, the pain came back so bad they had to give me morphine.
They ran tests and imaging studies and couldn't find anything wrong (except that I was constipated, which is my new norm post surgery), so the only suspect is that Diet Coke!
Addendum: I went to my PCP following my discharge and she says the pain had nothing to do with the soda. The C-T scan they did in the hospital showed gallstones (I don't know why the doctor in the hospital didn't notice that) and my PCP says it was a gall bladder attack.

I also always feel yucky as soon as I swallow that first bite. (I'm three months out.) After reading some of the posts here, I'm going to try smaller bites and more chewing. We'll see if that helps.calicotrixie Mine does the same! Although my stomach always feels a little unsettling. It’s nauseous on and off almost everyday. My dr. Said I’m still healing but doesn’t really have an answer. Everyone’s body responds differently in this journey. I’m just hoping this is an adjustment period since it’s still new, and it doesn’t last forever. I’m questioning my choice at this point[emoji25] I also can barely eat much and dr said maybe nausea may be due to the lack of food. I’m barely getting 3 meals a day. I just can’t seem to stomach food!

I'm so sorry. Losing a pet is so hard.Spent the last 10 days trying to save Ginger but she died on me early morning yesterday, This is a example of why WLS is important - Due to her weight and lack of moving she caught a respiratory infection - The vets were all over it and so was i but due to her being obese she could not kick it! This is why fat people die of pneumonia alot also!
So if you are on the fence take this as a warning! Now i have a 16 year old who is devastated at the loss, just venting! At least after 10 days of hell she can RIP

I agree that cold-turkey is the only way to go. After a while (it may be more than a few days...) the craving will subside.I have a massive sweet tooth, best thing I have found is cold turkey. There will be a few days of horrible cravings but once that is over, things improve immensely and the need for a sugar hit has gone.
Find ways to distract yourself when the cravings hit, something that occupies your mind and hands. Make sure nothing in the house to tempt you.
I don't know how far how post op you are but maybe go back to some basics...protein, non starchy veges, etc and lots of good fluids.

Don't let one Mean Girl turn you away from asking advice here. Most of us on this platform are nice people; it's a shame that the first one you encountered just happened not to be.I'm not a prankster... jeesh I think I'll not ask for advice again

Me, too. I was a major Water lover before my surgery, and now it doesn't appeal to me at all.

I get nauseous just THINKING about Protein Shakes. There is something about their taste and texture (and I've tried several) that is just disgusting to me. For the first few weeks after my surgery, I was okay with clear Protein drinks, but those started grossing me out after a while, too, and now the thought of those makes me gag.Hi, I’m almost a month post surgery and every time i drink Protein Shakes i get nauseas. I had no nausea or vomiting following this surgery, it just started this past week. Any advice or has this happened to anyone else?

I cheated and went back to drinking diet coke (in small amounts) about two months after my sleeve surgery. At first it gave me heartburn, but by about three months out I was able to consume a 6-oz bottle with no problem.I never got any information from my surgeon and I thought I'd ask the veterans on here what exactly is the medical reason behind the *NO* carbonated drinks like a soda?
I was really craving something today so I had a small no sugar coke just to see how I felt; I was very busy today realised at the last moment I got the wrong drink but I took it very slow small sips and haven't noticed any side effects?
I drink coffee during the day but also lots of Water everyday.
I've hit a stall the past few days I'm not sure if it's the coffee or the fact I'm very close to the end.
I'm currently 212; my ultimate end goal is between 180-190lbs...
Maybe the last 20+lbs will be more STUBBORN?
I must admit my activity level is minimal and that is my own fault I lack motivation most days..
I know I'll need to get into some kind of exercise; I've got a stationary bike but I really want to get a rowing machine for the whole body workout..
What do ppl think about rowing machines?
Sorry this is a multi part question...
Thanks.
Mike.

NO! Cocaine is highly addictive, and now that you are forced to give up your food addiction, you will be at higher risk than ever for a life-threatening drug addiction. Get whatever psychological support you need to get through this and stick it out through the hard beginning.since i can’t drink or smoke since i got my surgery a week ago .... cant i just do a few lines of coke... i’m serious please

Try the yellow packets, too, and see which is your favorite. I use one yellow packet per glass of ice tea. It makes it nice and sweet without being overwhelmingly so.

I like this one, too. It is nearly undetectable in whatever it's mixed with.
This is the best. It's medical grade and dissolves really well and is flavorless. Just put a scoop in a glass with a little room temp Water and mix with a fork. Add it to Soup or whatever after it gets to the desired temp. There's smaller sizes than this, I just bought this one because it came out to $1 per serving and that's the best bang for the amount of absorbable Protein you can get for your money. I got it on Amazon.< br>
They sell it here at BariatricPal, too, and last time I looked the price was lower here than at Amazon.

If you do eat it, make it the last of the meal. And if there is a concern about expansion, be sure to cook it with PLENTY of Water so it's fully expanded by the time it reaches your plate.

My doctor considers cottage cheese a liquid. The fat-free version is surprisingly tasty at this stage!I'm 5 days post op and am so over everything liquid. I had a 2 week preop liquid diet. I'm on full liquids until 2 weeks post op. I just need something/anything textured and more flavor! I can't wait until the pureed stage!!!! I want tuna, chicken or egg salad and some super soft veggies with seasoning.
I would love any suggestions!!

Upper abdominal pain after eating can also be caused by gallstones, which are common after extreme weight loss. Certain foods can trigger an attack.
