I like making greek yogurt mousse. One 650 or 750g container (whatever you've got, I know they come in different sizes) mixed with one package of Jello sugar free pudding. Makes for a lovely texture and a bit of a decadent treat! :-)

I have been trying to go off omeprozole and am afraid that my GERD will come back. I do get a little heartburn daily and have taken tums and that works, but I would rather not have to take anything!

I love smoking and I do love the smell too. Problem is, that at 75 yrs old, I’d like to save my lungs! last yr I had tiny nodes on my lungs but they were very small and didn’t get larger So if I try not to smoke too much. I have an addictive personality as most over weight people and tend to smoke every night. Besides the cost, the cough messes with my allergies. Haven’t tried the 𝐆𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐬 since it’s illegal in Florida but I have a medical card.

I’ve had the bypass 17 yrs ago. I was 275lbs and in my late 50’s. I am now 75 and am 163 lbs. when I had the surgery, my doc took out my gall bladder also. I’ve tried edibles and nothing works!
I’ve made Cana butter and cana oil from the recipes in books. I made brownies with good weed.
made cakes that floored my friends, me, nothing! After way too much waste of good flower, I give up. I think I just can’t absorb the good stuff🤔
Just a tip: don’t over do the Calcium and d3 Vitamins. Too much over the yrs messed with my kidneys and I had and have terrible stones. My kidneys aren’t 100% since.

It has been a journey, the last several months the hardest! The down 2 up 1 is driving me crazy after the dropping easier for the first 6 months. Now I struggle for 5 pounds a month. But today I'm going to sit back and enjoy the loss and feel very proud of myself. I never thought I'd be here a year ago. I was still trying to qualify for the surgery and gaining weight each day. Today is the start of my new me and new life. I can walk every day without knee pain and look forward to it too. For those of you thinking about it just do it. For those who think you are too old, I'm 73 and did it. Good luck to everyone out there and please stay healthy!

Its been 15 years and 10 months since my surgery and I have lost 196 lbs and kept it off. I have a goal for this year of getting down to 164 lbs from 199 lbs where I'm at now. I was 24 lbs heavier just over 2 months ago. I've been using an app called myfitnesspal.com to lose the weight. It took my a little bit to get the hang of it but now I'm comfortable with it. I pick my foods and it gives my the serving size and calories and deducts the calories from my daily limit. It sets up your plan by diet, starting weight and goal weight. As you lose the weight you change your current weight and it adjusts your allowable daily calories to keep you losing weight. I tried it free for a month and was shocked at how much I had lost so I purchased a one year plan and it wasn't expensive. I have the app on my phone and it is easy to use. I hope that this information is helpful for someone.

Lynda486 reacted to BriarRose in update on 10 years out regain, and weight loss
I posted a while ago about my weight loss, and regain and taking control again.
Started at 320 or there abouts 5'2" and 54 years old 10 years ago. VSG. Lost weight and got to 180 pounds. Over 8 years I regained to 220. Started slow weight loss / getting back into control in mid July this past year. I have now lost 30 pounds. Back to 190. I started my weight loss with a BMI over 54 in the 300's. I am still considered obese at 190 and a BMI just under 34; but darn it, I am so flipping proud of myself.
Yes, I am 64 years old. No, I can't really exercise ... but I do some short walks and I garden and vegetable garden, take care of my chickens. I had to get a local teen to help me lift 40 pound bags of feed this year; but I can still haul the 25 lb bags.... and I continue to work full time in my career. Life is good.
In my weight loss journey this time out, I stopped at 20 pounds lost and took a break. I experimented with adding in more foods, and balancing out what I needed to do to maintain that 20 pound loss, and did that for a month, then decided to lose some more. I think that i never really paid all that much attention to how much, what kinds of foods how I Prepare them.... and exactly how my body reacts to it. I use very little salt at home. When I eat out, I gain weight from the added salt. Yes, it is Water weight from the salt; but being on lock down at home and working from home, with no lunches out for meetings.... going to have to find places to lunch that cut the sodium out !!! Going to continue what I am doing. Taking breaks, slow weight loss and maybe make it down to overweight, or not.... but will be pleased to keep that 30 # off !!!
Still using my VSG. 10 years later.

  22. Congrats!
Lynda486 reacted to New&Improved in * 6 MONTHS POST OP UPDATE with photo *
Well I hope everyone is surviving through this virus situation.
i felt like updating everybody I'm pretty much 6 months post op give or take a few days!
This has been an incredible journey to say the least.
Had the RNY BYPASS surgery and I believe it completely changed my metabolism; I've lost so much weight and it's like I can't gain weight.
i actually started my own pre-op diet roughly 8 months ago way before surgery and my highest weight was 322lbs.
I was weighed in for surgery day at 257lbs.
Over the past few weeks I've pretty much hit maintenance I believe and I'm weighing in between my lowest day of 168 and my normal days of 170/171 obviously weight can fluctuate from day to day.
I am gobsmacked how well I've done and how good I look but I know I really need to start to tone up and build muscle.
My main focus from Day 1 was to just shed the weight off lose the LBS and I've done that. Never thought I'd get this far.
In the past few weeks I've really tested my metabolism over Easter I had some chocolate and some crisps and a few alcoholic beverages but it appears not to make much difference at all to my weight but obviously I'm back on track still logging my food intake most days and some days still using Protein Shakes when I'm busy or not that hungry literally 6 months post op some days I'm still not hungry.....
So in summary I've lost max 154lbs since day 1; 8 months ago and in the 6 months since surgery day I've lost 87-88lbs and I'm feeling great and it's weird people now telling me I've got to stop losing weight LoL.
I'm finally the slimmest one in my group of friends. People treat me differently in general.
I've included a photo it's not the best angle as it's hard to take photos of myself but you get the general idea considering the amount of weight I've lost there's not a huge amount of excess skin the main area is my lower belly abdominal area!!!
I really truly believe my metabolism and the way my body processes food has completely changed and it's an amazing feeling!!

    Lynda486 reacted to onmyway11 in I CAN'T FREAKING DECIDE!
Hi! I will tell you my story. I’m 5’2” and Caucasian female. I was 50 when I went to my surgeon at 283 three and a half years ago. I was 256 4.5 month later when I had my VSG. I did amazing. I lost 112 lbs most of it in the first 7-8 months. I thought for sure I was home free I was really committed and excited. At my one year I was maintaining at my 2 year I was up 20 at my 3 year I was up 60 lbs.

The thing about the sleeve is there is no malabsorption. Also you are able to eat whatever you want without repercussion as far as sickness. Sugar, fat whatever. Also after a while I was able to eat a decent quantity and of course there was the grazing.

Six weeks ago I had my conversion at 232 I had a modified DS. I asked about a bypass. My surgeon said it wouldn’t result in a great weight loss. The DS is no joke. It’s early I know. I ate some frosting off a cake on Easter yesterday (my first cheat and not that much either) and I was up all night. I’m hoping that gets easier.

Every one of these surgeries comes with good and bad and sometimes the good is bad and the bad is good. For instance I won’t be eating frosting again. I’m down over 30lbs in 6 weeks and I’m committed to keeping it off and staying on track and never letting myself gain weight back again. There’s no easy fix and there’s no one size fits all answer. Wish you the best!
