I had my band removed because it slipped. I never had the success you experienced. I am three months post op for a gastric sleeve. The weight loss is slow which is fine with me. I would not worry about getting skinny. How much you lose will be dependent on you and your body. Pray about this and other things. Great luck!

I have been a thick girl my entire life. I had the lap band in 2012 and lost 80 pounds but gained 30 back. The band has been nothing but a complication. So I am having it removed and replaced with the sleeve. I am nervous 😬 that I will loose too much weight and become skinny. My husband and I want me to be healthy. I’m am in tears over being skinny. I know this seems weird but I am really nervous. I have always been thick and afraid for how I will look after. What I I don’t like what I see what if I hate myself. I even cried today due to this fear. This is me now the second picture at 230 and the first one is at my lowest weight 186. My doctor wants me down to 130 I just can imagine that!!

Hi there, well its been 6 months exactly for me, what a ride its been! I've lost 111 lbs as of today and 38" over all lost too...I've given away a ton of clothes, buying new ones is a minefield now as the sizes are so messed up in stores and online. I hope you guys have all been doing great, I love hearing about everyone's losses (that doesn't sound right but you know what I mean) Heres to another 6 months!

Just had my 6 month follow up on Monday (actual six month date will be 4/29). The surgeon says he is pleased with my current progress as I have already lost 47.7% of my excess weight. This seems low to me but the scale seems to have stalled out since I started exercising at the beginning of the year. (TO be fair i should clarify it is not a complete stall but just a drastic slow down. ) I am still on the graduated intake and in the process of expanding to 4-6oz of food per meal. I have found that some of the meats and heavier foods are harder to get in the additional amounts without feeling uncomfortable or bloated. But I am determined to keep pushing forward with the plan and see how far I can get. I am almost certain at this point and the current rate of loss that my goal (125lbs) will not be achieved by 11/1 but if it isn't I don't want it to be because I gave up or didn't try. I have discovered that getting slimmer doesn't always mean getting healthier as I seem to have developed a low blood pressure issue that is being monitored and the exercise is causing some chaffing/rash issues under my arms and on my legs that I am learning to manage. Its hard not to get frustrated with everything happening (and the scale not moving) but I just keep telling myself that this WILL be better for me in the long run and when this is all said and done I will be better off than I was before.
Ive also taken to doing comparison shots from different periods of my weight loss to remind myself that even if the scale isn't moving there are still positive changes happening. It also helps to read everyone else's experiences and updates and to know that even though i am frustrated, we are all on our own journey and we are all progressing at our own pace. I cant let myself get drug down without pulling myself back up and getting back to work. It is going to take time and effort but I can do this.

So today is my 6th month anniversary day!
96.9 lbs lost since my 2-wk pre-op liquid diet. My BMI in October was 43.2, this morning, I clocked in at 25.4, I,m sooooo close to the top end of the "normal" BMI range for my height. Yay me!
    I wrote a longer-ish update here as I didn't want to double post 😉 :
btw, I also have a (beloved) spreadsheet that details inches and lbs lost by post-op week, post-op month, and calendar month. I was going to post it, but I'm not sure if its very interesting to anyone, lol. but I can post it/dm it if anyone is interested.

    Good morning everyone

I just took my 6-month pics (although I’ll be 6 months on the 30th) and wanted to share my results with you all.
I lost a total of 71 lbs and 69” overall. Down from size 20 to 12 and pretty damn happy I had this surgery! I still have 47 lbs to lose and intend on reaching my goal weight by October. Even if I don’t reach my goal I am still happy with my results.

    Have a great day y’all

Hello all! I weighted myself this morning and I was happy to see that I am -65kilos from when I started, that is 143lbs less !
Still have about 40 kilos more to lose (88-90lbs) but I am already so happy, reaching the weight I had in my university years (and that was like 20 years ago)
Congrats to all of us for taking the decision and doing the best we can for ourselves !!

Thank you!!! I had the survey Wednesday morning and came home yesterday. Honestly this isn’t as bad as I thought it would be at all. My doctor and his staff are VERY much on top of the pain management and it is helping. I can get up and down ok alone, my husband helped me take a shower for the first time. He didn’t tell me how much he took off but he showed me picture. Holy gross!!!! I’m very happy I did it and recovery is totally tolerable so far!

Hi everyone! I was converted from lapband to gastric sleeve on 10/1/2018. I have lost 67 lbs going from 227 to 160. My goal is 155! After lots of consideration and advice from doctors I went again and got a full Tummy Tuck and breast lift on Wednesday! I am sooooooooo thrilled, I never though I would be here in my life. Everyone keep up the great work!

Good morning y’all...just came to thank you all for the support and also to share my progress so far.
Almost 9 months pp and down from a size 18/20 to a size 8/10! I am in Brazil because my mother had some serious medical issues and don’t have a scale around but last time I weighed I was 90 lbs down and have 28 more to go to reach my goal.
    I am beyond happy!
    Hope you’re all doing great!

Hey guys! Hope all is well with everyone. Just an update, after having gallbladder removed I feel SOOOOOO much better. I've noticed that I am able to eat pretty much everything (just in smaller quantities). The diet has started to struggle a bit when it comes to making the best choices. But at least I realize it and can correct it ASAP. In June I hit the -100 lbs mark and broke down in happy tears in the locker room at the gym. It has been very hard not to compare myself with others who have had the same surgery. But we really are very different and will lose/gain at different rates. Best of luck to everyone! Remember not to be so hard on yourself. You did this because you love yourself and want better health for yourself.

@ms.sss thank you for the support! My proportions are still off for me to go down another size just yet...I dont know if its excess skin, some remaining stubborn belly fat or a combination of the two but I have a hard time getting smaller jeans to comfortably button and zip around my lower abdomen. (I call it my baby poosh because it only became a real problem after I had my kids but that obviously isn't a medical thing. Lol) it's smaller than it was but its still pretty prominent in some photos. (You can see it in the gray tank top I'm wearing in my recently posted pic)

Reached the 10 month post op mark four days ago.
I've been in maintenance for about 3 months now, having decided to stop losing weight back in the end of May. Still trying to find my "sweet spot" in terms of calorie intake and exercise. It's basically been trial and error, but I think I'm getting close 🤞🏼
Regardless, I feel awesome and am almost used to the new bod. I'm still sometimes taken aback when I see my reflection, or when I fit into clothes that look microscopic to me.
Anyhoo, here is a pic from a couple weeks ago (I'm wearing a bikini bottom for effs sakes! haven't worn one of those in decades). And for fun, some BEFORE pics (these were taken last summer, about 3 months before surgery)

I'm working with my therapist to try to see the good side of this surgery . I originally wrote a long post about how crappy I feel, but instead I'm going to focus on the good (if you're curious, you can see my most recent rant post). I've lost 88.65% of excess weight (measured from weight on date of surgery to top of healthy BMI), 42% of total weight (measured from highest weight) and 81 inches (bust, chest, waist, hips, both thighs, both calves, both arms, and neck). My nails are really strong (not surprising given how much dairy I eat) and I've been cleared to stop taking extra Calcium. Most of my blood tests are good (except cholesterol which is, weirdly, higher - but still not horribly high)
NUT at last appt (which was last week) asked if I wanted to stop losing. I was a bit surprised at the question. I guess I haven't really focused on what would be the goal weight-wise. Doc has never set a goal (just says that 50% lose 60% EWL), and I haven't really either because I know if I set a goal and don't meet it, even by half a pound, I'd feel like a total failure (a trait I am working on). Before surgery, I would have said beating the average would be good. But maybe given where I am, I aim for a healthy BMI - about 15lb more? Who knows - something I need to think about.
Surgeon has basically said I need to continue to do the blood tests he wants, but that I can do that with my GP if I want and he'll call her to tell her what to look for.
some pics for reference. Please ignore my messy bed (I should be better about making it - particularly before pics - but i never thought I'd show these to anyone). I hope all are doing well.

Don't be discouraged. And by no means consider a revision, you have to feel better than you did. You were, I'm sure told that you would hit a plateau, as we all do. To kick start it again, take a couple days and do protien drinks or have protien drinks during the day and have a light meal, push through. The first 5 months the weight goes so fast, you want that to keep up, but it can't and doesn't. Keep pushing through. Seek support groups to help with this, if needed. I think the key is to kickstart it again and I was told that going back to liquids for a couple days would help do that. I too feel like my appetite is pretty good, but then when I'm actually eating, I can't finish all that much, so just because you want to eat it all, your probably not - or don't let yourself, find something else to do. Keep up the good work, no matter how little that may seem to be some weeks - it will all be worth it in the end!!

Well please don't drop out of here, we need you and your perspective, you just may be the spark that keeps us twinkling on! And I do enjoy knowing each and everyone I have met on Here. And I'm snuck over from the other side of the Surgical Forum, but many, many of my best bari- friends are VSG! And I am living smaller at under 200 than I did 300 and more than a half, and feel better too . Now if I could only relive the obese years over again but at 73 I really am grateful for additional DAYS of LIFE.

Well, they say that 70 is the new 50. Congrats on your decision to move forward and take chances. I am hoping to get a July date too, maybe Aug. I've finished all the pre-stuff and just waiting for insurance approval. I'm so happy that someone started the over 65 groups as we have other goals. Our knees, hips, and mobility. I too live in the Carolina's. I just want to be able to go swimming in the lake and get back on the boat. I'd also like to keep up with the grad kids. Good luck on your journey and keep in touch.
