I got the official call today. After my insurance company delaying a decision because they needed additional paperwork, I finally got approval and am scheduled for March 3. So I’m technically in the wrong group now, but since I’m early March I’m going to hang out here for all of your post op stories. I’m so excited. My pre op is just one day liquid diet so that won’t be too bad.

I’m getting so excited!!! I seriously can’t function at work. I register tomorrow at the hospital and meet with my Dr again for my pre-op appointment and then Friday at 130 is my surgery! I’m having the sleeve done. Such a long wait so very glad it’s finally time!!

@niffer I agree. This group is wonderful! And I know I wouldn’t feel so horrible normally but it’s the severe caffeine withdrawal for me that’s kicking my butt. From everything I’ve read, I should be feeling better by tomorrow. I’m so excited and ready to get this show on the road!!

I'm on day 3...in addition to liquids I can have either 2 yogurts or 1 yogurt and 1 Protein Bar. Not terrible so far but 7 days to go and then 2 days in Clear Liquids only!! This group is keeping me going, I love to check in on everyone's progress and encouragement. Everyone here rocks, thanks February Surgery Pals.
    Good Luck!

Congratulations to everyone who has already gone! It’s so great to read your updates and be able to know what’s ahead for us who still have to go. I’m on day 2 of my 10 day pre-op diet. And I’m not going to complain. Yes I feel horrible but......I feel for those who have to be on liquids the whole time. I am able to have a little food on my diet so I don’t feel like I can really complain lol
good luck everybody! We’re doing this!!!!

I also heard that you should really take the time you have available not to overdo it because it was major surgery, you don’t want to sabotage the process ...major adjustments to a new journey with health and wellness. I personally think that if your incisions haven’t healed on the outside, there certainly are not healed in the inside. Good luck to everyone recovering. Protect your investment...and that is you ❤️

Just got word on Friday that surgery is Tuesday, Feb 18 at 11:00 am.
I am super excited but a little nervous about the clear liquid phase next Sunday and Monday.
I think I'm gonna be a hangry hungry lady. Any suggestions to keep my mind off food would be great.

I don't work and stay busy at home; but speaking for myself, if I did work I'd feel perfectly fine going back tomorrow (surgery was Wed 5th) my real only restriction was not to lift over 10lbs
I think staying busy helps so that's what I slowly plan to start tomorrow!

I went to several surgical groups to talk to people who have had sleeve/bypass. 2 of the girls in the group have desk jobs and they said they returned to work within a few days. I also have a friend who did sleeve and she was back at work in the hospital within a week. I guess it just depends on how you feel. But the consensus seems to be from those I talked to that it's pretty easy to get back to a job, especially one behind a desk. Good luck. 👍

Hello, I just want to give a little update since my surgery 2/4/20 cuz I know I was always wondering how everyone was after their surgery. My first day was rough! I had a lot of pain and I thought something was wrong since the person that was in the same room I was in was in no where as bad as I was!!! But the doctor told me she was a rare case! I was a normal case! Not that it made me happier but it eased my mind It lasted basically 8 hrs of pain that wouldn’t go away. I did everything to try to make it go away, I walked. Sat up, laid down, hot pads and etc to make it go away and it finally did in the middle of the night. The morning after I was told in order to leave I need to drink 3 cups of clear liquids. That was my other struggle. I would take a small sip and I just couldn’t hold it down. I tried for 3 hrs to drink Water or crystal light. Then the nurse came and offered me chicken broth and let me tell you it made a big difference. My stomach was not okay with anything cold but once I tried the broth I was able to take sips often and home I went. It has not been that bad ever since. I can only take little sips of room temperature water, crystal light just so I can have a taste once in a while and chicken broth. I tried to drink Protein Shake on the third day and it did not feel good at all so I didn’t try until the day after and finally I was okay to take small sips of Protein Shakes. I was okay also with starting the Vitamins but I had to take them a few min apart to let it go down with out it feeling like it’s too much. I told my doctor I was having trouble with the Protein Drinks and she said as long I am hydrated and take my vitamins and take the most sips I can of the Protein shake and I feel good then I am doing it right. Everyone body is different just to try to get more and more in as the days come. Sorry for my story but I wanted to share my post op Incase in can help someone else. Especially the part with having a hard time with cold drinks. My stomach was more happier with warm drinks.

I'm doing really good, drinking my liquids well and slowly taking in cream Soups (1/8 of a cup is all I can get down) but it's oh so good!
Slowly I believe I am learning to know when my stomach is full; I do not want to over eat and get sick!
Drinking anything 30min before and after food, that's different because I would always drink with my food; change is good though

I'm scheduled for the sleeve on 2/20, my PreOp appointment is today! I understand exactly where you ate coming from, as I am not telling anyone other than my husband and mother. It's nice to see all the people on here sharing their stories and tips. It's even good to read about the struggles,we'll all have some! Good luck to you on this adventure!

I had my surgery on Wed the 5th and I had no issues at all. Yes the post diet gets very very old but it helps the Drs in the OR and makes your surgery/recovery so much easier.
I've just had my first 2 oz of Protein today and it tasted so good!
When you start the preop diet rotate Protein Shakes with protein Water and even Crystal lite, will help break it up taste wise for you.
    Good luck! You got this!

Oh and I didn't tell anyone either so when anyone saw me doing shakes at lunch or breaks I told him I was on a low cal diet. That way its already known so no questions asked!

I'm scheduled for sleeve on 02/26. I am feeling ALL of the feels right now. Mostly I'm ready.
I could use some friends as I'm not really telling people about my surgery. I was approved back in November, but I got that notification the same day I got a new job offer so I asked to wait to schedule anything until I got settled into my new position.
I lost a lot of weight a few years ago when I took phentermine. I am looking forward to losing weight, keeping it off and not being a jittery rage monster like I was on the drugs. Also: weight came back fast.
All of my preop appointments and labs are done. I just need to make sure I don't get sick between now and then. I am super stressed about that.
I start pre-op diet on 02/12. I'm working on eliminating coffee right now- I'm told no coffee for six months post op.
I'm down to four ounces or less per day, but giving it up entirely is proving to be really, really hard. I'm planning to take three weeks off post op.

Just finished day 2 of the 2 week pre opt diet. Doing okay so far.But I can see that these Protein Shakes are gonna get old fast. I'm making some of my own Protein smoothies. My doctor's okay with adding a bit of fruit or leafy greens like spinach so I'm making some with apple or grape or bananas. They also allow a little bit of yogurt or cottage cheese which I have been doing at the end of the day It was dessert.12 more days to go.

    dessert.12 more days to go.

Should be discharged in the morning and off to begin my new ways
I'm glad its over, I had all types of paranoid thought, lol so uncalled for
good lucl this month for the rest of you!
