Yes, the burping eases up a lot. Once you start adding in soft foods in a couple weeks, be prepared for some gas on the other end. 😂😬

Hello surgery twin!! Hope you are recovery well ❤️ Hydration is my biggest concern, I have timers set so I dont forget! lol
Thanks!!! Taking it day by day, 2 weeks will come in no time right? LOL. Gas pain sucks but I have tried my best to walk. The biggest thing for me is getting out of bed when I wake up, it's kind of painful. But I'm glad to be here. I don't have much of a support system, except my kid. So glad to have a place I can research and figure out where I should be in my progress

Hope the gas pain is less! Are you home yet? The first few days were the hardest for me. Rest, walk and hydrate!

Hi Gang. I'm less than 24 hrs post op vsg and WOW the gas pain is real. I've been walking walking walking and they've kept me on track with pain meds but the gas is still here! They finally gave me gas drops at about 7pm last night and those definitely helped.
Also, most of the day yesterday every sip of Water or protien water made me throw up so I haven't really gotten much down. I'm hoping that today I have more success drinking. I just woke up and can already tell that I feel better than yesterday, thank god. I hope everyone else is hanging in there, it'll all be worth it!!

Good luck! I was nervous too. My surgery was delayed a week because I had the flu so my anxiety was really high. You got this! Can't wait to start reading your reports of post-op life.

9 days post op! I start "smooth" foods tomorrow and my Vitamins. My hospital divides the 3rd stage in 2; 3A is egg whites, cottage cheese, ricotta, tofu, refried Beans for Protein, and soft bananas, cream of wheat, canned in own juice peaches or pears, sugar free pudding. I do that for 10 days. Then I add in more foods for 20 days (e.g. whole eggs, soft fish, etc.)
I am strangely kind of nervous! I am afraid once I get to eat real food I'll overeat. I am sure this is nonsensical, but it's funny how the mind works.
I had a stressful work related call today, and found myself, phone in hand, heading toward my kitchen thinking about crackers. It was one of those "AHA" moments. I have a feeling I have many more coming....
On the upside I feel really good! I got 8000 steps in yesterday, and all in all I'm feeling good. I seem to be able to drink my glass of Water more quickly, and it does not feel like a full-time job getting myself hydrated. I have been able to get over 65g of protein; the Bone Broth really, really helps. So we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Right here! I'm struggling with it right now. I've added Miralax twice a day to my drinks, bought some Fiber, as well as upping my Water intake. I also have metoclopramide from a previous surgery and I took that so I would just go! I can recommend what my nutritionist told me today - more fiber! You can also look into some fleet enemas or suppositories. Good luck! 👍

One week after surgery! This has been one LOOONG week. It seems much longer ago I was checking into the hospital. But I am pain-free, and so much stronger than I expected to be! One day at a time.

Hi everyone! I'm a new member and my gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for 2/18. I'm excited and terrified all at once! There is the physical aspect but this whole experience has been a real mind shift. I was just telling my husband that I am aware of how much of a complainer I am being. The liquid diet has been tough on me. I started keto/IF on 12/28 and was losing weight before it. Now this feels like torture but I know it's preparing me for what is to come, in two days, I will be in a whole other phase...looking forward to learning and experiencing this with you all.

Hi everyone. I’ve been lurking on this forum for a couple of months and figured better late than never to actually join and post. I’m getting sleeved tomorrow!
Im so tired right now after the week of liquid diet but can’t go to sleep until I chug 2 bottles of “ensure pre surgery” at midnight. 😖
thanks to all the February people that have posted. Makes me feel so much less alone!

Just got my sleeve on 2/6 and came home the following day. My surgeon requires 2 weeks of liquids before (60g protein/day) and a day of Clear Liquids before. I’m down 32 lbs (almost 11% of my body weight!) since starting liquids almost 3 weeks ago. I see the surgeon Friday and I’m hoping he clears me to start “real” food then. I’m not hungry and I wouldn’t even say I have “head hunger” but I am over these Protein Shakes - everything tastes so sweet now! I’m keeping an eye open for ideas on savory, high Protein liquids to get me through!
It’s been challenging to get all of the protein and liquids in since surgery! I’ve just been setting a timer to remind myself to drink because I don’t handle dehydration well! In terms of pain - the first 2 days were rough, but walking a lot helped me. My main issue now is the little gas pains that come after drinking (especially cold things) and not being able to go like I normally do! I’m a nurse and I miss my work family, even though my awesome hubby is taking great care of me! It’s his turn on 2/24!
    Good luck everyone!

Had my surgery yesterday. Everything went smoothly. But I had a lot of upper abdomen and lower back pain, extreme nausea (mostly dry heaving and gas related). But it for way better by this morning. Pain and nausea mostly gone (I was told it may come back but not to the same extent.) Today I’m up and walking around the surgery ward and, unless something odd comes back in my blood, I’ll get to go home (to a hotel, actually) around noon.
