Hello lovelies- I am post op day 4 almost 5 and still In the hospital. Probably will be a few days before I can go home. The first night I was here, I wanted to sit up in the chair and when they helped me my bp bottomed at 85/40 and my hgb went down to 7.5 and my hct went down to 21. Needless to say they have spent the last 3 days trying to get my levels stable before they will send me home. My drain kept filling up and I just felt horrid. Today was the first day I felt anything remotely towards normal. I was watching the food network earlier and I NEVER watch that channel and everything looked so yummy, but I was not the least bit hungry. I have been drinking my Water, tea, juice and today I had a popsicle. I am OVER orange Jello though 😊I am typing this at 11:30 pm- I am so excited to be back in my own bed to resume this journey. I hope all of my June surgeries peeps are faring well ❤️

    Hey logo,

I totally understand! I fluctuated in weight over my weight management appts, and ended up weighing the same at my pre op appt. as I did on my last weight management one 😅 At the time, I was actually 7 pounds down from the beginning of my liquid diet, b/c I gained a bit weight on a 3 week vacation in Central Europe (but of course I didn’t tell my surgeon that!)

I typically drank 3-4 shakes a day, 2 cups of broth, and some SF Jello and popsicles, for around 500- 600 calories a day - enough to be losing *some* weight you’d think?

My surgery was actually yesterday morning and I just got home! I was a bit worried b/c I had started my period a couple days before and was retaining Water like I usually do, so I actually weighed in a couple more pounds than I did at my prep appt (242 vs. 240) - no one said anything and my surgery went perfectly! Even with all the swelling and the massive amounts of Fluid they pumped in me, when I weighed at home this afternoon, I came out to be 234 and some change.

I would say don’t worry so much, b/c it’s basically guaranteed that you’ll lose weight after surgery (minus a couple pounds you might initially gain due to the IV fluids). I was worried my preop results were a negative prediction for my post op ones, but it doesn’t look like an issue at all! If you know you’re doing everything right, keep at it and you’ll eventually reap the benefits 😊

    Saggy Breasts? CHECK!
    Hair loss? CHECK!
    Loose skin? CHECK!
I knew ahead of time that these side effects were an inevitable part of rapid weight loss, so I was pretty much prepared for when eventually happened.
Like @Diana_in_Philly said above, my boobs were already gravity-affected, so they didn't really sag much more, only deflated, nothing a good bra doesn't take care of. In all honesty, I do sort of miss some of the size (so does Mr.), but I wouldn't trade my smaller boobs for more fat. Neither would Mr. I'm way healthier now.
The hair falling out freaked me out at first, but then I just chopped all my hair off into a pixie cut, which I wouldn't have been able to rock with my former bigger face. I love my hair now
As for the loose skin, I am giving into my vanity and getting plastic surgery. For my arms and most likely my tummy. I could probably live with my stomach, its not so bad, really, but the arms are non-negotiable, which I hated even when I was obese. I have "un-firm" thighs and neck too, but I don't hate them enough to knife 'em out.
You need to figure out what's important to you, but really, the ultimate goal would be to get healthy and live longer, right? Even if you aren't as firm and have less hair for a while?

I'm 28, had my sleeve done last year when I was 27. 7.5 months out...I had a lot of hair to begin with and have experienced Hair loss, so it's not too noticeable for me. I also started to lighten my hair as having darker hair you can see your scalp more. I have lost nearly 140lbs and do have sagging breasts (went from a 42F to a 34 DDD) and sagging skin on my belly, thighs and a teeeeeny bit on my arms. I feel like if you have stretch marks, wherever those areas are, they don't seem to recover as well as other parts (my experience). I've posted about this before though, it all depends on your genes...I have very sensitive skin and scar easily. Some people have hair loss, some don't, some people have sagging skin and others snap right back. At the end of the day, I chose to improve my health and expand my wardrobe and live with saggy breasts and skin...I want to fix it eventually but, am in no hurry. Reach out to me directly if you have any questions too! I know sometimes it can be hard to post in a public forum. I attached pictures of my belly and thighs and then a picture of me today. No spanks, no special bra (one of those new lounge bras by PINK), no control top leggings just me today. It's easily covered up. Everyone's different. Hope I've helped and not scared you, but I can tell you 1000% it was worth it for me. Best of luck on your journey!!!!

I'm 1 year 2 months post op and have lost 115lbs which is awesome. I have more energy and can do more things with my daughter, I'm in clothing sizes I have never worn! I should be the happiest I've ever been, but I have a mindset I feel is holding me back. This may seem ungrateful, but I'm ANGRY I'm treated differently now that I've lost weight. It's like I was invisible (or worse- gross) when I weighed 286 but now people notice me just because of what I look like and it PISSES ME OFF.I was all the things that make me ME before I lost weight and now it's like a revelation that I'm worthwhile somehow. All of this positive feedback would have been awesome when my self-esteem was in the toilet from being depressed and overweight.
-My husband wants to tell me I look cute and wants to have more sex - and my 1st thought is why didn't you do this before?
-People who wouldn't give me the time of day at work tell me my ideas are great - and I think, they were good before, why didn't you speak up then?
-My family tells me nice things about myself and my clothes - I cant stop thinking about how I could have used this support BEFORE.
Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do to move past this? Should I see a therapist? I don't want to be ungrateful...

Sorry to hear you are feeling this way, I think you would benefit greatly if you saw a therapist.
Some people are treated differently when they lose what but I don't think its all about the way they look, I think some of it is the way they present a different attitude, more confidence, happier, etc etc.

I don't think so. Follow your doc's program. I'm 6 weeks out and just started walking more regularly and just started seeing regular loss. Your body is healing now and trying to figure out what happened. I couldn't walk at much as you do at 2 weeks. I get that we all want to blink and be at goal weight but it takes time. We didn't gain it all overnight.

Hi all! I had my surgery on 6/4. Leading up to it the nutritionist told me the pain would be similar to my breast reduction that I’d had many years ago. Well- the pain when I woke up from surgery was truly the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. I had horrible nausea, but the chest/gas pains were the worst. Wow! Every day has been better and I’m up and walking and not needing my pain meds except to sleep. The nutritionist also told me I wouldn’t be hungry after the surgery. Wrong! I’m on full liquids but I’m dreaming of scrambled eggs and rotisserie chicken. I was hoping I’d have no appetite. Anyway, why do some people do full liquid for a month and some for two weeks? Just different doctors?

I know everybody is telling you it will get better. I know sometimes it is hard to hear but it is 100% true. As the days go on it gets better and better, and before you know it you will be back to normal routines, still not eating alot, but back to normal routines and having fun. I had mine done in Nov.. both Thanksgiving and Christmas and my Birthday ( In Nov) were hard, but my family is very supportive and they made it fun, and un food related! You will have food police, and you just have to nip that in the bud really early on. You will slip but not fail as long as you stay focused on why you did this in the first place. With the goal ( reason) staying in sight, it will keep you on plan for the long run! Welcome to the Losers Bench and have fun with this.. It truly brings out your creative side in the kitchen
